one thing i know for sure is that racing is different from skating with folks. My friends are much harder to beat when they know we're racing. If i don't tell 'em i'm racing them i beat them everytime :^). And i want to know how i'm doing before i get out on the courses...
So i'm thinking....
Who else would be willing to join me in a Bandit Marathon? The beach path is 22.7 miles, and if we add some of the docks in Marina del Rey, we can make an excellent 26.2 mile course from the north end of the trail @ Will Rogers beach to the south end of the trail @ Torrence.
I think it would be interesting to see how many folks we can get out. If we have an early start, say 6-6:30am, we can easily and safely use the path (relatively) free of tourists and other weekenders. And i think the Orange County skaters might be persuaded to come play with us too!
To make it more interesting, I'll offer to pony up a $100 prize if we can get more than 25 skaters. i can locate numbers easily, and i'm sure we can find some folks to "officiate".
That is a good idea. I would be down for that. A start time of even earlier could be accomodated as the sun keeps coming up earlier as summer creeps upon us. Maybe the skate could finish at an IHOP for breakfast. Mmmm.
Re: LA Bay Inline Marathon?
ok, i'm going to be training this weekend, so i'll measure and mark the course... once i get it measured i'll map it and post it.
Roger, i know you're reading these... you gonna spread the word down OC-way?
