June 1st - June 19th
It's almost summer! The last few weeks of school have come, and students will need to study hard for their final exams! Don't let up yet, or your grades won't be what you want them to. Of course, the weather is almost perfect and pristine, in attempts to lure students away from their studies.
La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Oh man. Formal occasions. Formal occasions meant breaking out the tux, tie, and squeaky, shiny dress shoes. Looking spiffy and handsome, so to say. Tucker liked to look good, yes, but he had a certain style to his appearance. Having the kind of rough and tumble look. The messy hair, styled to perfect sloppiness. The untucked shirt, loosened tie, it was all about Tucker's look! THIS. This was not Tucker's look. Not at all. Who THIS was, well, who the bloody hell knew. All Tucker knew was that Puck had attacked him with a tux, a tie, shiny shoes, and a bottle of shloppy goo. Merlin, he must have had ten pounds of it in his hair to keep it all gelled back and off of his face. The world seemed so...open. He could actually see everything without his vision being slightly guarded with a few wisps of dirty blond hair!
Other than the hair, Tucker had the elegant, formal works. Black dress pants, which his hands were roughly and awkwardly shoved into the pockets of, a black tux jacket over a white button up shirt (He had tried to pop the collar, but Puck threatened to hex him if he did it again) and tied tightly around his neck was an elegant little PINK bow tie. What was Puck thinking? PINK?! Okay so the saying went that only a real man could pull off pink. Tucker knew he could pull off pink. He was satisfied with that fact. Why did he have to prove it to everyone?! The worst part about it was that it matched, to the exact hue, the color of the vest he wore under the tux jacket. This was humiliating. Tucker thought he was going to choke and gag by the end of the night. Something about formal wear was so constraining! And hot. Cory better appreciate how dressed and spiffed up he was, or he was going to face severe disappointment, and have to rip his suit to shreds. What else was it good for?
The doors to the Great Hall were wide open, a velvet red carpet leading into the grand room, decorated splendidly to the occasion. A large part of the floor was covered in the same red velvet, which Tucker assumed was cut out for the dance floor. Along the right wall of the Great Hall, a stage was set up with red velvet curtains hanging from the edge of the stage to the floor, the stage being raised up a good three feet. On the stage was a young looking enchantress. From what Tucker heard, this was the new singing sensation Vixen Veelaen. And just taking in an eyeful of her, Merlin almighty! She WAS a vixen! Long blonde hair down to her waist, an hourglass figure, well endowed with a nice set of hips that surely allowed for a preferable bottom...Tucker would make a mental note to somehow position himself behind dear Vixen to find out just how nice that backside was...
At the current moment, Vixen Veelaen was singing a slow, sultry song, and a few couples were out on the dance floor. Tucker, however, positioned himself right at the door waiting for Cory, in his hands a bouquet of a dozen red roses. For his beautiful Valentine. Things had been rough, things had been rocky, but Tucker still loved her. Yes, Tucker had decided recently that he was in love with Cory. True, genuine love. He just figured he should wait a while before he told her that. A few of Tucker's girlfriends in the past had been a bit put off by hearing it so soon. It wasn't his fault that he had convinced himself that he was going to hear wedding bells after he graduated...
It had taken nearly twice as long to get Tucker ready for the Ball than it took Puck to get herself ready. Naturally she had taken one look at Tucker's messy hair and mismatched clothes, and had gone into a whirlwind in an attempt to fix him up. He had protested and squirmed, as though he were a four year old protesting the fact that he had to take a bath. I do NOT envy the woman who has to marry him someday. Puck thought as she smoothed his hair back, trying to ignore the goo that she had covered her hands and fingers with in an attempt to keep his hair out of his eyes. The golden locks seemed to struggle against the goo as though they had minds of their own! Puck had nearly hexed Tucker and his hair a few times, but eventually he shut up and let her fix him up so that he looked presentable. Puck didn't know everything that had gone on between him and Cory, but she knew that cleaning up was the best thing a guy could do to impress a girl. There just wasn't anything like seeing a scraggly rough-and-tumble guy clean up enough to wear a tux and look at the world without his bad-boy strands of hair hanging down into his eyes. Naturally, he would be the most stared at guy at the ball, and Puck would feel immense pride for her creation.
Luckily, she had gotten herself ready before she had gotten to work on Tucker. Unfortunately, she had gone about buying a dress last minute from a catalogue. It had been a February catalog, so of course everything, even the very pages themselves, had been a horrendous shade of pink. Puck decided that if she had to look like a raspberry tart, then so did Tucker! So she hadn't hesitated to throw a pink vest and a matching pink bow tie on him. Of course, like any boy, he had protested, but Puck had shut him up easily enough. What was it with guys and their innate fear of the color pink? Pink wasn't anything to be afraid of. A girl couldn't be afraid of pink, especially when she was expected to wear it from time to time. Puck's mother would probably go mad at the sight of Puck that evening. Puck hardly ever dressed up, and she hardly ever looked feminine. It had been a stroke of luck that all the balls this school year had been either informal or costumed. Costumes, Puck could handle. Informal, Puck could handle. Large dresses? That was quite another story.
Regardless of how Puck felt to dresses, she had ordered one from the catalogue. The dress was rather elegant and eye-catching, especially for Puck. It was exceptionally long, so it almost completely hid the white high heels she was wearing underneath. Puck was a girl who hardly ever dressed up, but she decided that she should probably make an exception for valentines day. Not that Puck had ever looked forward to a valentines day. She had never had a valentine before, and this year hadn't been any different from any other. Everything that she had going for her had crashed and burned when she had been love potioned during January. She had been all over Devon because she wasn't in her right mind. One thing led to another, and Puck and Ashton decided that the fact that they were good friends made the whole relationship too weird to pursue. Or something. Puck lamented this fact, but she wasn't sure if it was because she liked Ashton or she just didn't want to be alone. Puck hated being alone, because she was the type of girl that thrived on attention. She could hardly see herself being alive if there wasn't someone to pat her on the head every once in a while and say she had done good.
The other main reason she was dreading valentines day, aside from having no one to spend it with, was because Ashton's birthday was on valentines day. She was obligated to give him a present, and it would have been rude to completely ignore him all evening. Well. Puck thought to herself as she got dressed,You don't piss in your own pool, so why should you date those in your friends group? Bad idea. At least you know never to do it again.
Before pulling on her dress that day, Puck had put up her hair. She pulled it back and used an immense amount of bobby pins to pin it back, with the tips of hair stylishly sticking out every which way instead of being perfectly stiff, molded ringlets. Puck's bangs were swept to the side, revealing her forehead a bit more than she normally felt comfortable with. For makeup, Puck applied a light pinkish lip stick, and an almost white eye shadow. She hadn't done much else, because she didn't really feel the need to. Even without pounds of makeup, Puck managed to look rather pretty in her own eyes, which was really saying something. Puck rarely felt confident in her appearance, mostly because she had never had anyone to tell her that she was anything special growing up.
After attending to Tucker, Puck had pushed him out the door to head to the Ball, while she retreated up into her dormitory to grab Ashton's present. Once she grabbed it, she ran back down the stairs and left the common room. When Puck had finally arrived at the Valentines Day Ball, things looked as though they were getting underway. People were dancing, the entertainment was singing... Puck pursed her lips silently, tapping the small present in her hands lightly before walking over to one of the walls. She leaned up against it, waiting to recognize one of her friends. Aah I can't believe you actually came to this. You idiot. You don't have a date! Who are you going to hang out with? Your friends all have dates!
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
It was Breena's first Valentines Day at Hogwarts! It was an exciting event indeed! Almost as exciting as Breena's birthday had been eight days prior. Yes, Breena was finally twelve years old. Compared to the seventh years like Armand who had celebrated his 18th birthday, Breena felt extremely young, but at least she was one year older. She was on her way to not being SUCH a young'n. Well hopefully. If only she could speed up time and just be, say, fifteen, then Breena would be a happy little girl. But sadly that was impossible, and Breena would have to wait for that glamourous day to come. Merlin, it was going to take forever. How she hated her life. With such a passion. All the older students had more fun. Not to say that Breena wasn't having fun at Hogwarts, but not the same KIND of fun.
But Breena was intent on having fun that night. She had taken extra care to get ready, and she was going to dance up a storm. Hopefully with a couple different cute boys... Well, she would admittedly leave a very upset little girl if she didn't at least get to dance with ONE boy. It would be a night wasted! All of her hard work gone to vain! She had dressed herself in a fun, short black dress. It was shorter on her right thigh than on her left, where it came down about six inches. The top was a spaghetti strap with a square neck, squeezing tightly to Breena's small and slim body. While she didn't have any curves, the dress had to be skin tight, or it would look particularly ghastly. The sleek material of the bodice was slightly gathered at the right side, making the fabric fold slightly, and the skirt was made out of two different layers of the same sleek material, ruffled for a fun, party-like skirt. To Breena, it was a dress MADE for her. A dress of perfection.
She had done her hair in a rather intricate up-do, tying it high up on her head before curling it in tight spirals, pinning them down so it was a bun full of brown curls, which she had sprayed with sparkles so it would glisten and shine whenever each individual sparkle hit the light. She wore a simple, silver chained necklace and small hoops hung from her ears. A few bangles clanged happily from her wrists. A few dashes of make up were on her eyelids and cheeks, even though she was perhaps too young to wear make up and didn't necessarily need it. She had to have gloss on her lips though. As far as Breena was concerned, she simply wouldn't look formal without it.
Breena had departed her dormitory, confident that she at least looked good. Now to find a suitable dance partner. Breena entered the Great Hall and looked around, glancing at a few people already on the dance floor. The night was early, apparently, and very few people had arrived as it was. But Breena spotted one person worth talking to on the wall. Puck Goodfellow. Now was her chance to have a personal conversation with the girl that she positively idoled! Brid would go green with envy!
Clicking over in her heels (which added an extra three inches to Breena's short stance) Breena arrived at Puck's side and leaned against the wall next to her. Now, what to say to bring up a decent conversation? Mention her animagus form? Ha. That was a good one. Puck would probably decapitate Breena on instinct if she found out that the young girl knew. Maybe just...greet her? Hopefully Puck would make conversation in response... "Happy Valentines Day, Puck!" Breena said with enthusiasm. "Waiting for your date?"
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
The announcement had stated that the Valentine's Ball was a formal occasion and thus required formal attire. Some of the girls were excited about the whole ordeal, but Cory, frankly, had groaned at the announcement. As much as she liked to look good, she wasn't a girly-girl at heart and would pick pants over a skirt anyday. She preferred to go play a sport out in the rain than stay inside and get her nails done. And while Cory thought dresses were pretty and were necessary once in a while, she didn't like to wear them all the time and around Valentine's? Definitely not. While some girls squealed and giggled about Valentine's Day, Cory, frankly, despised the holiday and didn't even think it worthy enough to be considered a holiday. After all, there was no real meaning to it and the story behind how Valentine's came about was completely off and was no more than a simple legend, not to mention not enough to have a holiday named after it.
Yet, Cory supposed that since she actually had a boyfriend this Valentine's Day, it was best that she actually attend. She was more inclined to do so as well, seeing as her relationship with Tucker was a bit strained of the late. Ever since New Years, there seemed to be a bit of tension between them and they simply couldn't shake it. Both of them were stubborn and neither really wanted to talk about what had happened, thus not enabling them to fix what had happened. And, of course, while ignoring everything was a temporary solution, it didn't exactly help in the long run. Cory knew that, but she didn't want to admit and she didn't want to have to talk to Tucker about it. She knew he didn't want to hear anything about what had happened anyway, so what was she supposed to do? She wasn't excatly the type to beg for forgiveness and besides, her actions had been the result of what Tucker had done to her, so what had she done wrong?
Nonetheless, Cory was determined to make this night work. She'd had her father send over a dress for her to wear. While the Head Girl had never been a big fan of pink, she supposed it only proper for her to wear the color, especially since she caught wind that Tucker, perhaps, would be wearing something pink. The thought of the boy wearing anything that even had a hint of pink on it made Cory want to laugh, and she supposed she could indulge him at least by wearing the same color. At the same time, she didn't want to wear something completely formal, one, because she just didn't want to have to deal with the hassel of wearing one, and two, well, although formal dresses were pretty, they were impossible to dance in and people usually ended up stepping on the hem anyway, so what was the point? The answer was, there was no point and if one expected to dance at said ball, they should wear something a bit more comfortable.
That was why Cory had picked out a light dress that was pretty, but comfortable enough for her to move in. The dress was pink, but had black patterns on it, making it look much more lively and fun. It looked a bit like a spring dress, and had no sleeves and was also a bit on the shorter side, but it was completely short and went down a little past her knees. The material was soft and light, the first layer being a solid pink while the layer over it was a bit thinner, being slightly see-through and decorated with those patterns. For shoes, Cory had slipped on some pink heels, but ones that weren't too tall. For one, Cory was already tall and she just didn't want to have to kick them off later. While tall shoes did look good, they were a pain about fifteen minutes into the dance.
Upon walking in, Cory looked around and saw that she was fairly early. Well, "early". It seemed most of the people chose to be fashionably late as usual, but it wasn't as if Cory spent that much time getting ready anyway. Her hair was down as usual, though she'd fixed it so there was a slight waviness to it. She'd also thrown on a necklance her father had bought her a few years ago and her make-up was dismal as usual. But Cory was the type who didn't usually wear a lot of make-up, so even if she hadn't worn any, she still would have looked fine.
Spotting her date, the Gryffindor couldn't help but grin as she walked over. "My my, what do we have here?" she asked, cocking her head to one side as she looked at Tucker. Or what previously could have been Tucker. "Is this actually a gentleman I see?" She laughed lightly, looking him over. His usually wild hair was tamed, having been combed and geled, which was a surprise in itself. Out of all the years Cory had seen Tucker, she'd never seen his hair actually pulled back in a manner in which one could actually see his entire face. And the clothes -- well, the clothes was another thing. They were formal and actually worn properly, which was a shock, and the colors... The grapevine had been right for once. The boy was, indeed, wearing pink and thus, Cory and him matched perfectly. "Could get a little hard to run your hand through that," she told him with a lazy wink as she placed a hand softly on his shoulder.
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Valentine's Day usually meant having boys on the sports teams tease her and swarm her with requests about being one's Valentine. For Melana, Hogwarts meant change but she didn't mind. It was rather nice to not have to worry about having pre-pubescent boys running around after her. She was now in a gorgeous castle with very fancy people who could make things fly! She herself flew a broom for sport! How wonderful was that?
To contrast her pale skin and bright orange hair, she wore a short, light pink dress. Melana wasn't in the habit of wearing anything fancy at any given time.
But she did make the most of the situation Tucker was in. He was wearing the exact same shade of pink she was! And since he was being distracted by Cory, the moment was perfect...
She simply pounced on him, with no intention on sticking around for long. Just enough to bug him a bit.
"Tucker... why are we wearing the same kind of pink? That's crazy! Ooh, nice date. Hi Cory!! Oh man, Valentine's Day, snogging's in the air for anyone with enough hormones. I'm too young for hormones, so no snogging for me. But that's ok, I rather like keeping my spit to myself. Whatever floats your boat!"
Melana climbed down from Tucker's back. "Oh and I want a dance later on. You have to make me fly, big bro! Later!"
Quidditch practice was cool, because sometimes they'd goof around and Melana would be sent flying by the strong arms of the older boys. Tucker's idea, of course. But instead of freaking her out, she loved the experience. She couldn't wait to show off to her friends Breena and Brid!
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Lynn turned and looked at herself in the mirror from a different angle, adjusting the tiny clips in her hair one last time. She knew that she looked good with makeup, but fantastic without, so she had foregone it for the evening. Her lips had always been a deep rosy pink, often causing people to think she had worn lipstick. It was certainly money saved, in her opinion.
She preferred the natural look, anyway. She’d styled her short hair in a flouffy sort of way, using mousse and a drying spell to keep it bouncy. As well, she’d added tiny clips with mini fake diamonds attached to give her hair a bit of sparkle. She had a feeling, though, that it would be her dress that sparkled tonight. How could it help it? It was covered with sequin trails!
With pale peaches and cream skin, she hadn’t had difficulty picking out a colour – hot pink was a cliché, but it worked. Worse had been picking out the dress itself. She had looked through a catalogue her mum had sent her beforehand and picked one out; her mum had sewn the dress herself and had done a good sight better than Lynn imagined a professional seamstress would have done. Strapless, it fell gently around her womanly curves and came to a smooth stop at her ankles.
Smiling, Lynn checked to make sure that her white heels – nothing terribly fancy, just a heeled shoe, really – were secure and then added the final touch: a dangly silver bracelet that she had received as a gift that Christmas. Since she had a long neck, Lynn tended to alternate between wearing necklaces and drawing attention to it, and letting other parts of her steal the show.
There. Now her outfit was complete. Lynn wished that Puck were still in the dorm, but she had left a while before, looking rather stunning. Lynn knew that they weren’t the closest of friends, per se; it seemed that she had few of those, these days. Sean really was her closest. And she was going with him to the Valentine’s Day ball; she felt like the happiest girl alive.
Humming to herself, she drifted out of the room and clicked down the stairs, making her way towards the Great Hall. Since they were in separate houses, she and her boyfriend had agreed to meet there. There were a few people there that she already knew, including the aforementioned Puck, but this would be Sean and Lynn’s first ‘public appearance’, as it were. Lynn was looking forward to making an entrance in front of the entire school. She waited just outside the doors and clasped her hands together.
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Valentines day was a day for everyone to show their love for a special someone. It was full of loving cards and gifts; chocolates, stuffed animals, and jewerly. At school you could always tell that Valentines day was coming up. All the girls would be in a flutter; all giggly and mushy. It also was the perfect reason for the school to hold yet another ball.
This however, was no concern of Sean's. He was actually excited for this upcoming event. The ball meant that he would be able to spend more time with his girlfriend. He would be able to show her off to everyone. Not that she was a prize or anything, he just wanted to be able to show how much he cared for her. She would never, ever, be a prize.
Sean checked himself in the mirror, making sure he looked at least somewhat decent. His hair he had spiked less then normal, but still spiked none the less. He had his smallest hooped earrings in as well. His suit was nothing too special, just a normal black and white one. Sean adjusted the suit one last time, checked his hair last time and left for where he was to meet Lynn.
Pacing himself, Sean made sure that he wouldn't arrive too late or too early. He made his way casually to his destination, walking among many already coupled groups. Sean waved and smiled at them but didn't leave his course. He just wanted to see Lynn.
As Sean reached the stairs, he quickly made his way down, watching the stairs as he went. About halfway down he looked up and stopped in his tracks. There stood Lynn, waiting for him, and looking absolutely beautiful. He stared for a moment, he had never really seen her like this. Of course she looked beautiful normally but tonight she just stood out above all the rest.
The noise of a growing crowd, however, knocked Sean's senses back into him and he was able to start back down the stairs toward his girlfriend. "Hey, Lynn" He said as he came up to her, putting a hand gently on her lower back and giving her a kiss on the cheek. "You love beautiful."
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Lynn wasn’t one to get extraordinarily giddy about Valentine’s Day. Oh, it wasn’t just another holiday to her; she loved watching all the lovestruck girls wandering around, all the drama that unfolded with the mixups of who was inviting who and who had gotten their heart broken and stomped on.
Cruel, yes, but theatrical and slightly entertaining to watch when it was in public. She watched the couples begin to arrive and drift into the room; if they greeted her, she smiled at them and said a few quick words before her wandering gaze fixed onto the stairs where her boy would come down.
This would definitely be an exciting evening. Neither of them had really told anybody, or at least she assumed he hadn’t, and as far as she knew, not many around the school were aware that the two were dating. Yet. Lynn planned to make sure that people knew that this was not just another one of their things, but that she was actually, for the first time in her young life, in a committed relationship.
Well, maybe committed wasn’t quite the word for it, but hey. She was standing in front of the hall in a hot-pink dress waiting for her boyfriend to come down the stairs to escort her to the ball. She could think what she wanted to think. There were no Thought Police, nobody who could read minds (as far as she knew) so she was safe.
More and more couples began to drift down the stairs, and Lynn was beginning to wonder when she would be one of the ones entering the doors. One more wistful glance, and then she looked back to the stairs. A smile lit up her face as she saw him halt at the top of the stares, looking at her. She wanted to make a sarcastic comment, like ‘what are you waiting for’, but resisted. She didn’t want to ruin his starstruck moment.
Instead, she waited until he resumed his path down the stairs to greet him.
"Hey, Lynn" He said as he came up to her, putting a hand gently on her lower back and giving her a kiss on the cheek. "You love beautiful."
Still smiling, she returned the kiss on the cheek and looked up the scant distance between them. “Thank you, darlin’. But in my opinion, it’s you who steals the show,” she said, taking a step back to survey the entire picture. “The formal wear, the hair and the earrings … it’s a killer combination.” With a wink, she slipped her arm around his waist and waved her other dramatically towards the entrance. “Shall we?”
Oh yes, this would certainly be an excellent event. She was looking forward to the stares. But then, didn’t she always?
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Valetines Day was entertaining and yet sad at times. Sean had a girlfriend every Valentines day, so he was never alone during the holiday. He felt sorry for all the girls who didn't have anyone to be with. Either they didn't have boyfriends, or their best girlfriends had boyfriends and didn't make a girls night out of it.
Through out the day girls would burst out crying whenever a couple would be seen walking happily down the hall holding hands. Valentines Day was probably one of the most depressing yet happiest day. No wonder his sister didn't like Valentines Day.
Sean was happy that he was able to spend this this Valentines Day with someone that he cared. Lynn was a great girl and brought the best out of him. As he stood with her, he felt like the luckiest guy.
He was glad that he could be one of those guys in a happy relationship. This dance was a dance for him and Lynn. A chance for them to show everyone how they felt about each other.
“Thank you, darlin’. But in my opinion, it’s you who steals the show,”
Sean just gave a bashful smile and whispered "Your sweet" in her ear as he kissed her. “The formal wear, the hair and the earrings … it’s a killer combination.”
Chuckling slightly, Sean pulled Lynn closer to him. "Well I do try" He told her simply. "Whatever makes you happy" He added slyly.
“Shall we?”
"Of course" Sean looped his arm in Lynn's and opened the door for her. The room looked great, very romantic. There was a couple of people there, not too many though. "Anyone you want to say hi to?" He asked her.
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Dion had been sitting on the step outside the entrance of Hogwarts. He had a fag set between his index and thumb, and was puffing on it. He was tempted to stick some weed it, but he thought against it, at least for now. He was nervous, despite the fact that he was simply going with his good friend who was the girl he felt most comfortable being around. Perhaps it was because this was the first real Hogwarts social he had been to in a while.
He was wearing a simple black, three-button suit with some leather flats to be a little dressy, and had added a baby pink dress shirt and matching tie to wear underneath the jacket for a valentines touch. He had bought it himself, after he had gotten out of Juvey, when his mom insisted they go out and buy some new clothes for the year. But for the time being, he had his coat off so that it wouldn’t smell of smoke – making it awfully bloody cold sitting outside. He knew Sera wouldn’t like it if she could tell he was smoking, so he was trying his best to rid the smell, though, he doubt all of it would go away.
He took the last few puffs, as he looked out at the darkened scenery around him, and was feeling a lot less stressful. He would just have fun tonight, and that was all. No thoughts about homework or other things that were rummaging around in his mind. He deserved a moment of enjoyment, and he would make the night well worth his time. Standing up, he put his cigarette out with his foot and took out his wand, casting “evanesco” so that the butt had completely disappeared.
Dion then grabbed his jacket, and quickly put it on, as he stepped back inside the warm castle and put his wand back into the inside pocket of his overcoat. He left his jacket undone, put a piece of minty gum in his mouth, then took a small bottle of cologne out of his pocket, spraying it in front of him as he walked into it, then returned it to his pocket.
He needed to meet Sera at the entrance of the Great Hall, so he quickly made his way up the stairs in the entrance hall, and turned a corner, so that he came across an array of other people who were waiting for their dates to meet up with. He rubbed the back of his head as he looked around for his friend, then grinned pleasingly as he spotted her.
It had been the first time he had really ever been anyway with Sera as a “date” but he supposed he was due to the fact that they only really had that chance in their 1st to 5th year, and they were too young to even think about dating then. At least Dion was. But they were only going as friends, and Dion liked it that way. If anyone thought they were hooking up or anything, they’d be wrong. But Dion would be far from embarrassed if anyone had such presumptions. Sera was a rather attractive girl.
Walking up to the side of her, he continued to grin, “Well hello me lady,” he greeted, spreading out his white teeth into a witty smile, he was fighting his urge to give Sera a noogie, “Don’t you look lovely tonight,” he added instead, eyeing her attire, and at the same time, trying to get away with eyeing her figure. Sera was a very good friend of is, but a female no matter, and tonight was probably one of the only nights he could get away with such acts. He took a white rose from out of the inside of his jacket, which he had conjured up with magic, and held it out to Sera with a sincere smile on his face, and held back some other teasing comment he was going to throw. He lifted an eyebrow playfully instead, and then held out a bended arm so they could hook arms.
As they walked closer to the great, wooden doors of the great hall, he continued to look at the people around them, eager to see who had came with who on the night of love. He wasn’t a gossip-meister, but rather was interested in which of his mates had scored with who, and what choices his lady friends had made – hopefully the sort of choices that wouldn’t provoke Dion to open up his watchful eye.
Soon enough, he’s sight came across an oh-so-familiar couple. “Tucker!” he exclaimed, reaching out his hand that wasn’t occupied in Sera’s arm to give his mate some typical, manly handshake. He paused for a moment, goggling his eyes at Tucker’s hair and outfit, as a serious expression overtook his face, “…you…look gorgeous…” he commented, widening his eyes slightly at the word ‘gorgeous’. “Cory,” he continued, turning his glance to his other fellow Gryffindor and nodded his head at Tuck, continuing to manage a somewhat serious façade, “it must’d took some effort to match up to such beauty” he finished off, before laughing it off with his wide, white smile.
Of course, Cory was looking gorgeous as usual and Tucker’s new hairstyle, was…different…but looked fine. Dion was only joking around to blow away some of the staid, lovey-dovey aroma in the air.
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!"My my, what do we have here?" Tucker turned and caught sight of Cory, a grin spreading across his face. Finally, she had come! And just as Tucker expected, she looked beautiful in a light, flowy pink dress that...perfectly matched Tucker. Merlin. Puck had probably let the secret out that Tucker dared to be manly enough to wear pink to the Valentines Day Ball. But hey, it was Valentines Day. The holiday of pink, red and white. Tucker would maintain that that was his reasoning. For those that would recognize him without his unruly dirty blonde locks hanging down into his eyes. Puck had mentioned something about a haircut. Tucker had mentioned something about making her die a slow and painful death. He liked his hair the way it was, thank you very much. It was very...Tucker. It defined him. She could't take that away from him. She wouldn't! "Is this actually a gentleman I see? Could get a little hard to run your hand through that."
Tucker grinned, and gave Cory a cheeky sort of wink before replying. "Indeed. But oh, my dear," Tucker said, sounding shocked. "Is this a lady coming my way? In a dress that couldn't possibly hide any weapons or firearms of any sort?" With that, Tucker presented her the bouquet of flowers. What she was going to do with them, Tucker hadn't the slightest. It would probably be bothersome to carry around a dozen roses all night, so hopefully she would summon them up to her dormitory, or find a safe spot in the Great Hall. Whichever suited her fancy. "But the hair's not my fault," Tucker said, placing himself up for some sort of defense. No way was everyone thinking that he put himself to having sleek hair. "Puck attacked me with a bottle of goo because she didn't have anything better to do. It'll take five hundred gallons of water just to wash this junk out." Catching scent of an opportunity for a joke of a suggestion, Tucker looked back at Cory with a demonic sort of look in his eyes. "You wouldn't care to assist me for a bath in the Prefects Bathroom later on, now would you?" He asked with a grin.
"Oof!" Before Tucker realized anyone was behind him, a small body had pounced right onto his back. "Tucker... why are we wearing the same kind of pink? That's crazy! Ooh, nice date. Hi Cory!! Oh man, Valentine's Day, snogging's in the air for anyone with enough hormones. I'm too young for hormones, so no snogging for me. But that's ok, I rather like keeping my spit to myself. Whatever floats your boat!" Melana said all at once from her position on Tucker's back. Tucker couldn't help but laugh. He reached behind him and found Melana's stomach, poking her a bit hoping she was ticklish in some way. Whatever he could do to unstick her from his back!
"You're never too young for snogging," Tucker replied simply. "Find yourself a nice first year and go experiment. You'll have fun, I promise."
"Oh and I want a dance later on. You have to make me fly, big bro! Later!" Melana said before scrambling off of Tucker's back and prancing off to go attack someone else. Man, that girl had spirit. Tucker could only laugh and shake his head in her direction.
"You bet, Melana!" He called to her retreating back.
“Tucker!” Ah, more company. Tucker turned to see Dion and Sera coming his direction. Wait, were their arms linked? They were there as a date? They were there as a date! Tucker could only wonder how that had ever come to be. From his observations, Dion and Sera had just been friends before. Did this make them a couple? “…you…look gorgeous…” Dion said to Tucker, a serious expression on his face that made Tucker scowl. Oh, he could go kiss Tucker's... “Cory,” Dion continued. “it must’d took some effort to match up to such beauty.” Dion finished, and finally started laughing the whole thing off. Still scowling, Tucker gave Dion a good slug on the arm from annoyance.
"Hey Sera, your date better mind his manners or he's gonna have a black eye by the end of the night," Tucker said, teasing his friends. "How did you guys end up as dates anyways?" Tucker asked, his curiosity getting the best of him. It probably wasn't the most polite thing to do, but he didn't really care. Glancing over at Cory, who Tucker feared he had been negligent to for the last few seconds, Tucker reached his hand over and gently took Cory's hand in his own, squeezing it gently as a signal of affection.

Sera wasn't normally the type of girl who dressed up full out on any occasion. However, it was her last Valentine's Day Ball, and she had taken the attitude that that meant she could do almost anything she wanted. That included dressing up. She had gone shopping with her mother over the summer prior to seventh year, but they hadn't bought any dresses since it had been far too early. Since she hadn't gone home over Christmas, she couldn't have done it then. However, her mother had come up with the brilliant idea of sending her photos of the dresses that she thought Sera would like, and Sera had sent the one she liked back. Well, it had been more complicated than that, since her mother had a fairly good eye for clothing - at least better than Sera's.
Shaking her head, the Gryffindor smoothed out her dress and then sighed, fingering the strap and examining herself in the mirror one last time. The fabric was a silky blue that complemented her eyes, a stark contrast to the colours she normally had the tendency to wear. It was a nice change, she decided, and made a mental note to find more clothing like it. Really, her only complaint about the dress was that it had no sleeves - and Hogwarts castle definitely needed a new heating system. Well, a heating system period. She was always cold, and figured that before she made it to the Entrance Hall, she'd have half frozen.
Brushing her hair over her shoulders, Sera surveyed herself in the mirror one last time before glancing at her watch and growling under her breath. Bloody hell, she was late! Tossing the timepiece onto her bed, she lifted her skirt and bolted from the dorm, picking up her shoes in one hand so that she wouldn't end up breaking her neck or twisting her ankle. She slowed her pace down once she was in the main hallway, and by the time she reached the entrance hall there was no sign that she'd even started off the evening with a little bit of a run. Surprisingly, Dion wasn't there yet, and so she resigned herself to picking a spot near the stairs and waiting patiently. She was actually quite tempted to go and find a mirror, but she knew that if she did, she'd really miss Dion and then he'd be the one waiting - he would be around momentarily. Her hair, which was loose, couldn't be that tangled, and she knew that staring at herself in the mirror for a few more minutes wasn't going to make her look any better or worse.
Glancing around, she caught sight of Dion approaching and unfolded her arms with a grin as he approached, taking in his clothing.
“Well hello me lady. Don’t you look lovely tonight,”
"Right back at you," She grinned again, wondering if this was the point where she was supposed to duck and run. They were going as friends, and she was expection Dion, in typical brotherly fashion, to ruffle her hair or something along those lines. He didn't - which was good, because then might have had to exact her revenge, in some way or another - but instead produced a rose from his pocket, which she accepted with another grin and a hint of a blush. "Why thank you," She bit her tongue before she mock bowed or finished with, 'good sir knight,' or something equally as lame. This entire ball thing had her on edge, and she wasn't sure why.
That was a lie, she was sure why. Social events weren't her thing, to say the least. She was the type of girl who had the tendency to be too busy for balls and dances and whatnot. Between patrols, quidditch, and school that wasn't much of a surprise, but that didn't make it any less unfortunate. Hooking her arm in Dion's, she laughed slightly and glanced around as they began to head toward the great doors of the Great Hall. The girls were all looking lovely, the guys dressed up, and for a few moments Sera felt a touch underdressed before she realized that she really wasn't. Glancing off to one side, she turned her gaze to Tucker and Cory as Dion altered their direction.
“Tucker! ...you…look gorgeous…”
Sera couldn't help it; she snickered, but covered her mouth with her hand in the hopes of being able to muffle it. Honestly, though. Gorgeous? Tucker did look good, but that sentence coming from someone like Dion? She was suddenly feeling awkward, being the only one not in pink in the near vicinity - but hey, pink wasn't really her colour. That was a lie, but blue looked better. Sera had to fight the giggles as she glanced at Tucker again, the expression on his face priceless. "Cory, it must’d took some effort to match up to such beauty.”
"It sounds like you've got some competiton here, Cory," Sera teased, trying not to laugh - which was incredibly hard, considering Dion was laughing and laughter had the tendency to be contagious. Her lips twitched as she tucked her hair behind her ear, forgetting about the flower and nearly tucking it back there as well.
"Hey Sera, your date better mind his manners or he's gonna have a black eye by the end of the night. How did you guys end up as dates anyways?" Sera grinned, wondering vaguely if people were going to start thinking that she and Dion were dating; she had no problems with people thinking that, in all reality, even if it wasn't really true. They were friends and, as far as she knew, nothing more. In a mock serious tone, she said,
"Well, it happened like this - I was in the Common Room, doing my usual thing, and he walked up to me and professed his undying love." She shook her head slightly, eyes sparkling. "No really, we were both dateless, so we decided to go together. I hope you weren't expecting something incredibly romantic..." She glanced at Cory, wondering how - exactly - the other girl was feeling about this entire 'Valentines Day' thing. Cory didn't really seem like the type to enjoy this sort of holiday.
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Lynn shivered as he whispered in her ear, ”Your sweet,” and kissed her. She couldn’t help it. It tickled! For years, she had insisted that she wasn’t ticklish. Of course, that was before she’d had friends who actually dared to test that theory out. She really was extremely ticklish, especially in certain areas.
There was definitely something comforting about being held so close by someone who you knew cared so much about you, and even as she thought this, he pulled her closer as he chuckled at her comment about his attire. She hadn’t been joking, of course. He did look perfect for the night. She couldn’t get over how much he suited her. Normal, gentlemanly, but with a little bit of oddball and bizarre pitched into the mix. How could he complement her more?
"Well I do try" He told her simply. "Whatever makes you happy" He added slyly.
Lynn smiled. “That certainly has interesting possibilities,” she said, grinning as he looped his arm through hers. And indeed, in true Lynn style, she was already brainstorming. Maybe she could get him to swim in the lake sometime. True, it would be cold, even nearer to the summer months, but definitely entertaining! Or she could get him to join her in the kitchens for a past-curfew snack. The possibilities were endless.
He assented to her request to enter the room and looped his arm through hers, then opened the door for her and led the way through. As they walked, Lynn took a moment simply to admire the Great Hall. Whoever had decorated it had done an excellent job, and the velvet carpet she was currently walking on was the perfect touch. She felt like a movie star. Not many people were here yet, but she recognized a few. The one that jumped out at her was Cory Weiss.
Had Lynn been at the ball stag, chances were she would have gone out of her way to heckle the older Gryffindor. They didn’t exactly see eye-to-eye, and the fact that Lynn tended to be a trouble-maker along with a … well, a girl with a taste for most of the young men in Hogwarts … it all added up to a general dislike for Lynn; at least, that’s what she assumed were the reasons. Not that it didn’t go both ways. Lynn couldn’t stand the older Gryffindor.
But tonight, it was a night for herself and her boyfriend. Wasn’t that just a lovely thought? Lynn Stuart had a boyfriend! So she allowed herself only one sneer in the girl’s general direction before she turned her attention back to Sean.
"Anyone you want to say hi to?" He asked her.
“Hmm,” she said softly, glancing around the room once more, and then cocking her head slightly to listen to the music. A grin spread across her face as she looked at him askance. “I think I’d rather dance first. You know, that way people will see us together and then, by the time we do talk to them, they’ll be over the shock.” With a wink, she began to lead him gently to the dance floor where the singer was currently singing a rather sultry, slow song.
“Besides,” she murmured, slipping both hands around his neck. “This is a Valentine’s Day dance. You and I come first. Pfft to social obligations.”
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Send me a dress. That was all that Alex Summerlin had written in a letter home to her mother. And as she awaited the parcel, she found herself scared out of her bloody mind. What had she been thinking? That it would be nice to let her hair down and act feminine for one night? Had she completely lost it? Her mother was going to send her some poofy, frilly, disgusting dress that looked better in the garbage can than it ever would on a sixteen year old girl. And Jereff was going to be ashamed to be her date. She could see it all playing out before the package even arrived. She should have asked for one of Andrew's old tuxes. He liked to get all dressed up and would certainly have a wide selection of them in varying colors. Pink, purple, fuscia, red, orange, maybe even yellow. Then she would be decked out in Hufflepuff colors! But unfortunately, it didn't look like that was going to happen anytime soon.
Finally, almost too late, a rap came at the window, and an owl hovered just outside holding a delicate package. Oh great. The moment of truth. Alex jumped off of her four poster and unlocked the window, allowing the owl to soar into her room and drop the package on her bed before turning around and flying back out, probably heading up to the Owlery for a well deserved nap. Alex looked down at the paper parcel, and with trembling fingers, she reached forward to open it. "Please don't be ugly," Alex murmured as she ripped one side of it. "Or too girly," she continued as she opened the other side. Closing her eyes tight from anticipation, she finally ripped the entire package apart, and a smooth fabric rippled past her hands to where it landed on the bed. She peered one eye open to see a red dress crumpled together on the bed. Opening the other one, she reached her hands out and lifted the dress off the bed, holding it in front of her to see.
Merlin almighty! It wasn't as bad as Alex had thought it would be! It was actually quite NICE! Her mother had done well for her for once, rather than trying to humiliate her in a disgsting pink dress. No, this one was classy. Figure hugging all the way to the floor with an open and corseted back. At the end of the corset, the satin red ribbons continued, tied in a lovely bow that would fall down the remainder of her back. And the front was scrunched up at the bust, and a tie went from the middle to around her neck. It was...well, lovely! And Alex didn't even like dresses! For tonight, though, she would have to. She would have to pull the dress off and pretend that she didn't feel uncomfortable or out of place. She quickly undressed and slipped the stunning red dress on, buckling the black heels her mother had packed wit them. Heels? Was she serious? Alex couldn't walk in heels! A few paces around her dormitory told her that! But she had to keep practicing.
As she curled her long brown hair with her wand, she paced back and forth around her dormitory, slowly getting more accustomed to her heels. And soon, she was ready. She looked herself over in the mirror, and almost didn't recognize herself. She looked like a lady! A nice young lady. Her brown tresses had gotten longer since the last time she had worn it down, and were now tumbling down her neck and shoulders in loose spiral curls, brushed out to be full and wavy. Around her neck, she had added a simple black satin choker, only about a half inch thick. It was enough to finish the look so her chest and neck didn't look bare. Well, this was as lady like as it was going to get. Satisfied with that, Alex started out of her dormitory and made her way down to the Great Hall, hoping she wouldn't be regretting the dress or the heels in the next few minutes. Luckily the entire walk there would help skill her in the art of heel-walking as well.
And soon, she was there. Several couples had already arrived and were beginning to weave their way across the dance floor. Dancing? In these horrid heels? Alex would make a point to kick them off before it came to that. She wanted to look lady like, yes, but she didn't want to break her ankle. She resigned herself to waiting by the door like a few other students had chosen to do, scanning the Great Hall and the corridor for their date. Hopefully Jereff would get there soon so Alex wouldn't have to stand alone, feeling completely and utterly awkward.
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!“That certainly has interesting possibilities,”
Sean laughed slightly at Lynn's comment. Oh yes, very interesting possibilities. There were so many possibilites for Lynn and Sean. The couple had so much going for them. Everyday Sean expected something new and exciting to happen when they were by each other's side. Lynn was an exiting girl, and Sean was lucky to have her.
Looking around at the others Sean felt that Lynn truly outshone all the other girls. It was incredible, though, how much change there was in girls when a dance came along. Girls seemed to try harder on there looks, wanting to look their absolute best. Guys usually didn't really care about dances. Probably the only reason they went and showed up decent was for the girls.
Tonight was an important night for Lynn and Sean. It would official that they were dating, it would be known to the school. Sean didn't know how he felt about it. He anticipated everyone's reactions, wondering if anyone would say anything. Sean hoped their wouldn't be any negative reaction toward them, he couldn't see why there would be.
“Hmm,” Sean looked around the room until Lynn spoke again. “I think I’d rather dance first. You know, that way people will see us together and then, by the time we do talk to them, they’ll be over the shock.”
Sean gave a small smirk at the wink that Lynn gave him and gave her a knowing look. "That will be one Shock, but its fine by me. Everyones going to know eventually, there's no need to be sly about it anymore." He answered, grinning. Sean allowed Lynn to lead him to the dance floor for a slow dance, there first one.
“Besides,” she murmured, slipping both hands around his neck. “This is a Valentine’s Day dance. You and I come first. Pfft to social obligations.”
It was nice to here that their relationship came first. Sean slipped his arms around Lynn's raise, pulling her gently towards him. Sean liked to be close to Lynn, she was such a comfort. "Hmm, I think that's a good answer" He told her as he kept his eyes on her, not glancing around at everyone yet.
It was a bit weird being the only ones on the dance floor but it was a dance afterall. And, as Lynn stated, was indeed a good way to reveal their relationship. This way people couldn't come up to them right away and start pestering them; while everyone watched them they could ease in the idea of the pair dating.
Sean knew that people would be very surprised, since they hadn't told anyone about them in the least. Of course Mack knew, Sean didn't like hiding things from her. Sean was sure some people had figured it out but he wasn't sure how many. Well tonight was a good enough night as any to find out.
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Lynn had no idea that Sean was thinking about how far she outshone all of the other girls; if she had, though, it wouldn’t have changed things, really. She wasn’t vain in any sense of the word. The only reason she cared so much about her appearance was that it gave her confidence. She knew she looked good, and that helped her walk confidently and without hesitance. Even she needed reassurance every once in a while.
She had gone through such a transformation in her years at Hogwarts. When she had first come, she had been shy, barely having any friends. She was always following others around, never really offering an opinion of her own. However, she’d begun acting classes, and that had helped her more than anyone could ever know. She was sure that people had been shocked at the change in her when she came back to school all confident-like and, well, loud.
She felt like she had shot up to a peak, had gone to the extreme. She’d had hormonal urges all of a sudden, and had satisfied them all. Now, though, she felt like she was beginning to temper out. She was still the mature, wise old soul that adults had always praised her to be underneath the exterior, and Sean had seen that. She knew he had. That was part of the reason she felt so lucky to be with him. He saw her. He saw her as she really was. He had seen past what others chose to see … and that was the greatest gift he could’ve given her.
"That will be one Shock, but its fine by me. Everyones going to know eventually, there's no need to be sly about it anymore." He answered, grinning.
Lynn grinned in return. “Exactly,” she said, letting him hold her around the waist and pull her closer. Had she ever felt this close to anyone? “No more hiding.” That was what she had said to herself on the Hogwarts Express, after last summer. No more hiding, she told herself. You’re going to show them who you really are. You’ll show everyone who ever teased you, who ever goaded you, that despite them, you grew into a far better person than they ever imagined you could be.
And she had. Lynn was fifteen and a half, and she felt like everything was falling into place.
"Hmm, I think that's a good answer" He told her as he kept his eyes on her, not glancing around at everyone yet.
Lynn smiled gently up at him, meeting his gaze with her own. Every time she looked into his eyes, she saw something there, something that made her want to hold onto him forever. It was as though there never had been, and never would be, anyone else. Even if it wasn’t true, that was how she felt, and how she hoped he did. It was a comforting feeling.
After a moment of simply swaying and gazing into his eyes, Lynn kissed him gently, like a butterfly, on his lips and then did something she had never done before. She closed her eyes and rested her head on his shoulder, letting his cheek rest against her own. There was something so intimate about this gesture, and it worked so well since they were almost the same height.
She was falling, and she loved every minute of it.
As they danced, she listened to the singer, and listened to her thoughts. If she said it, it would be quick, it would be fast … but she really, truly meant it. “Sean,” she murmured, keeping her eyes closed. After a moment, to be sure she really had his attention, she angled her head slightly so she was whispering into his ear. “Maybe it’s too quick to be saying this, but I’ve never been more sure, and I can’t think of a better day to say it.”
Lynn’s fingers interlaced at the back of his neck, and she drew comfort from how close they were. “I’m dangerously close to being in love with you. I think I might even already be there.”
OOC: I was listening to Mandy Moore singing ‘Only Hope’ from A Walk to Remember as I typed this … and the last part just came to me … now let’s just hope this doesn’t backfire. XD
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
It seemed as though everything would end up perfect tonight. So far everything was good. Lynn looked beautiful, they were dancing in front of everyone, letting their feelings for eachother show publicly at last. Sean was already having a good time, already knowing that tonight was certainly going to be a highlight of the year.
Sean had been to many school social events. He had been to quidditch games, parties held by the school and parties held by students. Hogsmead days were definantly a must go to event as well. This was only Sean's second school dance. He didn't like going to dances unless he had someone to go with. At Hogwarts he had a hard time deciding who he would want to ask. That was one of the main reasons why he never went. This was the first dance that Sean was really sure about.
This was just one of the things that he knew he and Lynn would be able to enjoy together. They had so many days ahead of them. He knew he shouldn't think too far ahead, that sometimes scared girls, but he couldn't help it. He had planned many fun filled days and nights with him and Lynn before he went to sleep. He just enjoyed being with her, he made him so happy.
"Exactly...no more hiding" That was good. Sean didn't like hiding things from others, he always felt bad. Sure some things were to be kept secret for reasons but he always felt guilty. He never betrayed those secrets thought, he was loyal to the end. That was just how Sean was; he would never do anything to betray someones trust. He never wanted to do that to Lynn.
Sean knew that he wasn't the most exciting guy. In Australia and New Zealand he had a lot of friends that their personalities just complimented each other. But at Hogwarts it just wasn't like that for Sean. He was grateful that Lynn was able to see past his Prefect, studious, seventh year exterior and see what he was like inside.
It was Sean's hope that he was answering to Lynn's needs. He didn't want to be the boring, and dull boyfriend for her. Of course he knew she wouldn't want him to change for her but that was just inevetible. He felt like a different person around her, he felt like he was becoming the person that he was when he was back home. He missed that person.
As Sean danced around with Lynn the world seemed so right. Every worry was washed away. All thoughts of other people being in the room vanished. He felt like he was on cloud nine. Lynn then gently kissed Sean on the lips and he returned it just as gently. He felt so free now; no more hiding. He didn't even think of how others would react right now. It just wasn't important anymore.
Lynn's eyes were closed but Sean remained looking at her. “Sean,” He heard whisper. "Yes?" Sean whispered back.
“Maybe it’s too quick to be saying this, but I’ve never been more sure, and I can’t think of a better day to say it.” Sean was paying very close attention to Lynn now. he knew when she had soemthing important to say. What was too quick? But he would know soon enough. The fact that she said that she was never so sure was comforting.
“I’m dangerously close to being in love with you. I think I might even already be there.”
Sean paused slightly but quickly resumed the dancing. He wasn't sure he had heard right. Did Lynn just say that she was falling in love with him, IN love? This was entirely surprising and unexpected but yet entirely welcomed. Sean knew that Lynn was only fifteen. BUt Sean knew that when you deeply cared for someone, age wasn't a factor.
A grin came on Sean's face. "Is that so, well I have something to say to that." Sean leaned closer to Lynn, so that he was right up to her ear, "Im pretty sure I have already fallen too" He then kissed her on the lips, a soft, slow, love feeled one.
ooc: I love that song! And this is definantly getting fun and interestin!!
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Lynn really didn’t want to think of what her mum would say if she knew; after all, Sean was eighteen to her fifteen, and in teenage years, that was a vast difference. In only four and a half months, he would be graduated from Hogwarts and looking ahead to the future. She, on the other hand, would have two years left to go. It would be a miracle if they could keep their relationship together with such separation. Now she said she loved him, and she convinced herself that it would last, that she wanted it to last … but what if it didn’t? She was filling herself with fantasies.
For the moment, she really didn’t care. She just needed Sean to know how she felt and, more importantly, how he felt. If he said what she hoped he would say … then maybe, just maybe, they might have a chance. Maybe. Lynn was determined to hope for the best, even if there was such a huge difference between their ages.
When she told him that she was falling in love with him, she felt him hesitate, but then quickly resume dancing. Oh, dammit, she’d ruined it, hadn’t she? It had been too fast, she’d spoken her thoughts too quickly and scared him off. How stupid was she? He probably thought she was too young, too naïve to know what love was.
With her eyes closed, she couldn’t see the grin on his face, but she felt his warm breath on the side of her face as he leaned closer and said, "Is that so, well I have something to say to that." For a moment, she wanted to ask him to stop, to shut up, anything to keep from breaking her heart. She didn’t want that. She wanted him to love her, so much more than she had ever needed anything from anything else.
"Im pretty sure I have already fallen too"
Shocked, Lynn’s eyes flew open as he kissed her on the lips; it was so slow, so tender, so soft, and so filled with the love that she felt through every fibre of her being. She let herself melt into the kiss, keeping her eyes on his so he could see that she meant what she had said. It seemed like the kiss would never end, but eventually, as all things do, it did.
Lynn wasn’t surprised when she felt her eyes fill with tears, but she was a little embarrassed. She wasn’t sad, of course, but she felt happy, so happy. Resting her hands on the side of his head, she whispered with a smile, “Thank you. Thank you, so much.” With one hand, she pushed the tears away. Still, a few escaped and fell onto his shoulder. “Sorry,” she whispered. “This probably isn’t the reaction you expect when you tell a girl you love her. Can I – can I ask you a question, though?”
She needed to get it out of the way. It was important.
“Do you really think we can do this,” she murmured, looking at him seriously. “I mean, you’re graduating in four months, and I’ll still have two years of school left. I mean – I hope this will last, I’m assuming it will, but maybe it won’t, but …” She took a deep breath to collect her thoughts and then continued. “Assuming that it does, do you think we can make this work?”
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Up until this moment Sean didn't know, or rather he didn't realize that he was in love with Lynn. As he told Lynn this he realized that this was the first time he had ever told this to a girl. The feeling that he got from saying those words and hearing them from Lynn was undescribible.
The pair now knew how they both felt about each other. It wasn't a secret anymore. Over the short while that the pair had been acquanted somewhere in that time love had grown. Sean tried to think quickly where it could of happened but decided that that would be impossible. Feelings just happen, they aren't planned, so to figure out when these feelings first started would be impossible.
As Sean told Lynn that he loved her too he could sense the surprise of his words. She apparently believed that he wouldn't share the same feelings. Sean knew that these feelings were true. They both were honest people, they wouldn't lie to each other. Trust was just too important to them. As Sean kissed Lynn he felt more love towards her than he ever had. This definantly felt more right than anything done between them.
When the kiss was finished Sean found tears in Lynn's eyes. He was slightly confused as to why she was crying but he knew, for some reason, that they weren't tears of sadness. "Thank you. Thank you, so much.” Sean just smiled down at Lynn, words couldn't convey how he felt at this moment.
“Sorry,” she whispered. “This probably isn’t the reaction you expect when you tell a girl you love her. Can I – can I ask you a question, though?” Sean wanted to tell Lynn not to worry about it but he allowed her to ask the question. So Sean just simply nodded his head.
Sean listened patiently to Lynn. When she was finished Sean just shook his head, pulling Lynn in close to hin yet again. "I think we can do whatever we want. Honestly. I know it might seem like there's not much hope since Im graduating soon but.." Sean stopped for a second, collecting his thoughts better. "We care about each other. And this will work as long as we want it to, as long as these feelings last."
"We've got something going on here. Something real. So your asking me if I think it will work, then I say yes it will" Sean hugged Lynn, kissing her on the forehead. "We can make this work" he murmered into her ear. He wanted her to know how much he cared for her and how bad he wanted it to work.
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Lynn wanted him to hold her, to tell her that everything would be all right – either that, or she wanted him to tell her that no, maybe this wouldn’t work, and they should keep those expectations out of the way. She wasn’t really sure what she would have done, if he had told her that. She knew that, though Sean was a sweetheart, he was also honest. Not quite as brutally honest as she tended to be, but honest just the same. She feared his answer as much as she had feared telling him that she loved him.
But when he pulled her closer, Lynn instinctively knew that everything would be all right. Sean wouldn’t have told her that he loved her if hadn’t meant it to last, in every sense of the word. She was sure of it. Sean would never break her heart of his own free will. How could she not have realized that? Did love really make you blind?
"I think we can do whatever we want. Honestly. I know it might seem like there's not much hope since Im graduating soon but.."
At least he saw where she was coming from; sometimes it did seem like there would be no hope … but then she looked into his eyes, and she saw all the love and caring in the world. Where exactly had it come from, this pure, adoring love? They had known each other for such a short time, and they’d been together fewer than 10 times since they had met.
But somehow she knew that these feelings had developed of their own accord, and they wouldn’t allow a stopwatch to be used. They developed wherever and whenever they wanted. Lynn wasn’t one to pray, but she swore that if she was, she would thank God every night that he had opened her eyes to Sean. She was happier than she had ever been.
"We care about each other. And this will work as long as we want it to, as long as these feelings last." "We've got something going on here. Something real. So your asking me if I think it will work, then I say yes it will"
It would work, she realized. It would have its hard times, its downright difficult times, but if their love persisted, then so would they. No matter how much hard work it took, Lynn was determined to keep things going. She wouldn’t let one of the most magnificent things in the world slip from her grasp. She loved Sean and she always would.
He hugged her and kissed her on the forehead. She knew they probably were interesting to watch, first being one of the only couples of the dance floor, then she had started to cry, and now they had stopped dancing altogether and were simply embracing. The thought brought a smile to her face. Nothing else mattered, because Sean loved her for who she was, and who she could and would be.
"We can make this work" he murmered into her ear.
“Yes,” she whispered in return. “We can.” How was it that Sean always knew exactly what it was that she wanted to hear? “I think this is one of the best days of my life,” she continued, smiling. “And it’s also one of the most parching. Do you mind if we go get a drink?”
Re: La Vie En Rose [2.14.09] Valentines Day Ball!
Why was it that talking and just holding one another could make everything better? Those two things were such a comfort in the world of relationships. That was why Sean really liked relationships that weren't based alot on the physical aspects. Being physical, to Sean, could only help a relationship for a little while. Not only did communication help but it was also way for a couple to get to know each other better.
Sean was in wonderment at the events thus far in the night. They had probably been there for less than fifteen minutes and already they had danced, told each other they love each, had a serious conversation and have probably had a lot of people starting with very confused looks on their faces.
Normally Sean tried to keep his affections not quite public but at the moment the feeling he felt erased all previous norms for him. He just didn't care. Other couples would make out in public all he and Lynn wanted was to hold each other. But than again they were the only ones in the middle of the dance floor, a place that everyone had a perfect view of.
“Yes,” she whispered in return. “We can.” How was it that Sean always knew exactly what it was that she wanted to hear? “I think this is one of the best days of my life,” she continued, smiling. “And it’s also one of the most parching. Do you mind if we go get a drink?”
Sean smiled as Lynn said that this was one of the best days of her life. "Yes, It is most definantly topping my list" He told her, taking her hand in his. "Sure, we can get a drink. Im kind of thirsty myself." Sean lead Lynn over to the drinks and poured two drinks for them. As he made his way over there and now stood there, with his drink in his hand, he smiled at all the other couples, knowing that none of them knew how he felt at that moment.
No one knew what he was feeling. No one in the world. When someone tells you they love you, you feel emotions and think thoughts you never could dream of. Life seemed full of hope and more love. Nothing could pass through the light that Sean was in at the moment. He was so glad now for this event, he wondered how this moment would of happened otherwise. But one thing was for sure, he would remember this day for the rest of his life.
