Lithian
it is my understanding that Lithian is no longer tagged DH and as such is no longer an officer. I have removed his access to this ubersecret forum.

This does pose one "consistency" problem however.
It was my understanding that Morgrify was still tagged DH while Lithian was not. Therefore, one char in DH, and one out.
I removed officer status from Lithian rather than just making his DH toon (Morgrify) the officer. My reasoning at the time was that since he couldnt devote his full time to DH, it would be hard to keep up and perform the role of an officer adequately.
So now, Nan is still tagged DH but Kychin is now off to recruit with another guild. Arguably the same situation as Lithian.
Do we have a consistency problem here if I dont remove officer status from Nan?

firstly, lemme clarify - i mean only the officer forum, not the private forum. I have only removed people from the private forums when they leave with all characters, and not only then, I believe I have posted the guidelines elsewhere and won't delve into that. The only criteria for access to this forum is if you are or are not an officer. My understanding is that being an officer was something that was based on the person, not individual characters - ie when playing Cili I can still act in an officer's capacity to resolve disputes and speak for the guild and such. Anyway.
As to whether or not to remove officership from those who decide to join or at least try other guilds which provide opportunities we do not - I'm against it, if we are soliciting opinions. It strikes me as needlessly antagononistic, mean spirited, and unneccesary. There is no reason why we should lay down precedent that can only serve to fuck us later... why not just go on a case by case basis.
While I have nothing against Lithian personally I do think he did not perform in an acceptable manner during his tenure as an officer and that removal of officership was not only appropriate but probably fucking inevitable anyway due to his amazing lack of good judgement in heated situations. However, there is really no good reason to paint others with the same brush, who have and continue to, serve us diligently - like, example, ketre, who not only is in another guild but her MAIN is in another guild. Benik... etc. I do think in general you can be devoted to DH without neccesarily having all 8 char slots tagged with.
I think we should tread carefully here and not lay down anything we will regret later, especially anything we don't especially need, why borrow trouble?

While you make good points, and I tend to agree with you, there is one thing that keeps nagging on me. I mean, I am not one for taking the "officer" title too seriously, but there are members who have said that it is a big responsibility, or a significant achievement to become an officer. If so, that important position carries with it the responsibility of putting DH first on your hierarchy of guilds.
I do agree with the case by case approach, as in Ketre's case, and others. But I also want it to be clear what being an officer in DH means. I was very laid back about the officership of several members previously, seeing it more as filling a hole than as a reward or entitlement for good service. However, some of the membership instead saw officership the other way, as that reward or deserved promotion for years of dedication to the guild. I got my ass handed to me in more than one post for not recognizing the importance of what becoming an officer meant, and for giving some people officer status too nonchalantly. So now, I recognize that, and treat it as such.
Anyway, for now the case by case method will suffice. Just something to think about is all.

i don't know. I thought left with all chars except his rogue or whatever. I could be wrong. If he still has a character that is an officer I'll give him back access - pending ez's decision in that other thread whether or not he stays one
