Looking for something... (open)
The doors to the library opened fairly soundlessly; but if anyone was in the room, they would have probably noticed. After all, that's generally how it works in a library - people notice when others enter. As the doors opened, a student stepped through, and as he let his hand off of the door, it whooshed shut the same way it had opened. With a sigh, Knives (as the student's name was) set forth into the library, towards the computer - it was the easiest way to find what he was looking for. Quietly, but casually, he sauntered that direction, hands in the pockets of his khaki shorts, seemingly lost in thought, yet still moving quickly as if he didn't want to be here.

"K....just gotta find this book, and I can leave," he thought to himself. There were much better things to do on a bright, sunny day as this than be cooped up in a quiet, lonely library...but he really wanted to find something out.

As he came upon the computer, Knives pulled out the chair from the desk; it screeched a bit at first when it scraped across the ground, and he flinched a little. Looking around, his German Sheppard ears drooping a bit, he mouthed "Sorry," to the people around him, before flopping into the chair. He stretched first, running his hands through his long, curly brown hair (which fell to his eyebrows in the front, and past where human ears would be on the sides) on the way to putting his arms in the air. Once that was over, he leaned forward to place his hands on the keys, so he could perform his search...

"Dog creature," He typed in. Nothing could be found. He sighed, and tried to think back. "What was it that dad called himself? There was a special name for his race..." He sat, lost in thought, as he tried to remember. Within a few minutes, he was getting frustrated; and the look on his face revealed that fact, as he stared in a confused manner at the computer screen.

Hitomi sat at a failrly medium sized table, a stack of about five or six books (all manga) right next to her. The side of her hair that had been left down often fell in her face as she read, while the other side stayed - for the most part - neatly behind her ear. Her sapphire eyes were focused on the manga in front of her called Chrno Crusade. It was one of her favorite graphic novels that she brought from home, among the others that were sitting next to her.

She looked up from her book and saw Knives enter the library and head for the computers. As much as she tried not to, she couldn't help but stare at his ears. In a way, he kind of reminded her of Felix, since he had a pair of animal ears atop his head as well. However, Felix had white cat ears, not dog ears. Other than that, he looked pretty much like your average teenage boy.

Hitomi soon went back to her manga, but her focus was blown to bits when she heard the chair scrape across the floor. She jumped and knocked over the pile of books next to her. She cringed slightly for a minute afterwards and looked over at Knives before picking her books up off the floor. Luckily, they weren't damaged at all.

"Hmm..I think it began with a D....Daa....Dakaran? I think that's it..."

Knives's fingers whizzed across the keyboard, as the word "Dakar" was entered into the blank on the screen. As soon as the dog boy hit the enter button, a list of three or four titles came up on the screen. Knives leaned forward, his blue eyes staring intently at the screen as he read the list. As he did so, his elbow came to rest upon the desk, so that he could support his chin by resting it in the palm of his hand. His other hand played the mouse across the desk, searching through the titles to see what would work and what didn't matter. He finally came down to two books he had to find. After finding the numbers of where in the library to find them, he logged off of the computer and moved to get them. This time, after pulling himself out of the chair, he carefully, gently lifted it so as not to drag the legs across the floor, and placed it back in its original spot.

After a few moments, Knives returned to the same area with two fairly large books: one about the history of magical creatures, and one about demons. Both books were held under one arm, leaving his other free. As he came to the spot, he frowned a bit. His eyes moved about, from table to table; there was at least one person at each one. With a sigh, he decided to sit with someone; he moved to the closest table, and smiled at the girl sitting there, unintentionally letting her see his fangs. Then, he whispered, "Uhhm, do you mind if I sit here while I do my research?"

(uggh I kept trying to post last night, but it wouldn't let me..)

"Hm? Oh, it's no problem at all," she replied. She noticed his fangs almost immediatly when he smiled at her. "If you don't mind my asking, what's your name? My name is Hitomi," she introduced. She looked at the two books he'd brought with him and figured he was probably just going to read about his race, since it was apparent that he wasn't quite human.

He nodded when she said it was ok, and pulled out the chair across from her gently, again so as not to make a noise. After he'd taken a seat and scooted back towards the table, he set both books down in front of him, and looked at the titles...of course, Knives knew he wasn't truly a demon, but he also knew his dad's race could not use magic - though they did have special abilities (which were actually closer to demon abilities than magic...) His face contorted a bit as he tried to decide which one to read, and he finally settled upon the one about demons. After all, he'd once been called a demon.

"If you don't mind my asking, what's your name? My name is Hitomi," At the sound of a voice, the dog ears atop his head twitched a bit. He'd been pretty engrossed in his thoughts, and Hitomi suddenly snapped him out of it. He looked up at her with his blue eyes, and his hand moved to the back of his head to scratch it sheepishly. "Oh, sorry, I was just trying to think about something....I'm Knives Angelico, nice to meet ya!" He said to her, and gave her another of his big, friendly smiles.

"So, whatcha doin in the library?" He asked, glancing down for a moment at the books she was carrying.

"I'm just reading a few manga that I brought from home. I'm probably going to go back to my dorm and study for a little once I'm done in here," she replied. Rather than just go out and do stuff while she still had all the time in the world, she mostly kept herself shut up in her dorm or the library; Either that, or she was drawing in a sketchbook somewhere on campus. She wanted (for the most part) to be totally prepared when classes began and didn't want to get off to a bad start.

"So, what are you researching?" she asked, glancing back at the two books he had.

"I'm just reading a few manga that I brought from home. I'm probably going to go back to my dorm and study for a little once I'm done in here," He blinked a bit, and then turned his head so that his blue eyes could stare outside of a nearby window. It was bright and sunny; and, as he remembered from before he came in here, it was perfect weather - not too hot, just a bit warm. With that, he turned back to look at her, and tilted his head curiously to the side, one of his ears twitching slightly. "Back to your dorm? Wow, why don't ya wanna go outside? It's a great day out! I'm gonna go see if someone wants to play football or basketball or somethin when I'm done here...." He nodded, and shrugged. "But hey, if that's what you wanna do...." He gave her a small smile to show he was just messin with her - he'd already expected a girl who would spend her free time in the library not to want to spend too much time outdoors, and it didn't really make him think any less of her.

"So, what are you researching?" He looked down at the book he'd just opened; it was at the index now, and he hadn't had time to find what he was looking for yet, as he was talking to this girl...which was actually more interesting, other than the fact that he was curious about his father's race. He shrugged, and looked back up to her, before grasping the book by both covers and lifting it enough for her to see the front. It was just a plain brown cover, with the words "Demon History" across the front. "Well, I just found out that I'm half of some sort of dog creature a couple years ago, and I don't know much about em...so I figured I'd try to find out." He nodded. "I'm not a demon, but my race came up in this book, so....."

(and with that, I must go to work. I'll be back in about 6-7 hours....)

"That's really interesting," she commented. She was about to say something else, but had earned a ratther loud 'SHHHHH!!" from the librarian, so she went back to reading her book. However, she had to go back a few pages; she forgot where she left off.

"That's really interesting," He shrugged a bit, and set the book back on the table. "Nah, it probably isn't. I mean, I'm interested, cause it's about my race, but...." He smiled at her again, and opened his mouth again to say something, but was interrupted by the librarian. After she shushed them and turned around, he gave her a quick glare, and then turned back to Hitomi. "Ehhh, don't worry about her. Librarians don't matter," He smiled again to her.

He saw Hitomi turn back to her book, and shrugged a bit, looking down at his. He thumbed through the pages in the back a bit, looking for a word that related to his father's race. When he found one, he then looked through and found a relating page, and began to read, his blue eyes moving back and forth across the page, following the words. His face held a look of thoughtfulness, and he actually seemed pretty interested.
