Lunch Box (Focus: Knives. Semi - Open. Ask first please)
The day prior was a blur for Dango, but most of all was half the people she met. Knives, Rafael, some guy on rollerblades, a girl with wings, and Itamu. Dango spent the night at Itamu's but unfortunately she didn't get much sleep.

That was because she felt bad for leaving Knives up on the roof alone, it certainly wasn't very nice of her was it?

That was why she was here now, in the cafeteria at a corner table with two lunchboxes sitting infront of her. One was for herself, and the other was for Knives. She just hoped he liked riceball dumplings and sushi rolls.

It was day two and already she didn't get much accomplished. She hadn't been witness to any major battles, so she wasn't able to collect information. Her laptop was sitting on the chair beside her, a red light flashing in steady beats to alert her of a message from the agency.

The only problem was that it would have to wait, apologizing to Knives for taking off of him was much more important.

OOC: like I said, I don't mind other people being here. I just don't want another of my threads hijacked while I'm away. And I don't like being left, or ignored. That being said......

IC:

It was mid-day, and most of the kids at the school were at lunch right now. Usually, Knives would not come to the lunchroom at this time. He didn't like waiting in lines, nor did he like having to find a spot to sit, when most of the seats were already taken by people he did not know. Besides, since he usually slept in until about this time, or even later, he didn't really want "lunch food," which was all that they served in this cafeteria. For that reason, he'd usually eat in his own room, and come down here a little later for lunch, when everyone else had already finished.

But today, he had (somewhat) made plans with Dango. Or, at least, she'd promised him lunch before she'd ran off on him so rudely. He knew that some others wouldn't have even shown up today; but Knives was a good guy, and didn't get angry or upset too easily. So, he was here, even though he would normally be asleep right now. He didn't want her to think he was mad at her, after all...though he suddenly didn't like Isamu very well.

As he stepped into the huge lunchroom, he sighed. People were everywhere. They didn't bother him, but he didn't feel like weaving through them. But he just shrugged, and looked around, his deep blue eyes searching for a sign of Dango. Unfortunately (though he'd expected it), he was unable to find her in a crowd with just his eyes. This was just one of the many instances that he was very happy to have found out about his special abilities. He tilted his head back slightly, so that his nose stuck up into the air, and took a deep breath, sniffing the air. Just like a dog, he was able to pick up all of the scents in the cafeteria, and separate them, without even thinking about it. A useful trick. He quickly found the scent of Dango, and turned to head in that direction.

He had to push through, weaving in and out of people, but he was finally able to find the table that Dango was sitting at. After letting out a deep yawn, and stretching his arms high above his head, Knives flopped down into the chair next to her. Once seated, he placed an elbow on the table, and leaned his head into his hand, supporting it. With a sigh, he turned his head towards her, so that his half-open, sleepy-looking eyes could look at her. He'd only been up for about fifteen minutes now, and he definitely looked it.

"Hey there," he smiled a little at her. "So how was sleepin with Isamu?" He didn't want it to sound bad, but it did; of course, Knives couldn't really help it. He felt bad about being left last night, and he was a little jealous of Isamu. He'd wanted to offer Dango to his room - not necessarily for anything "wrong," but because he enjoyed spending time with this girl. But he was sure something would have happened at Isamu's...he didn't trust the guy, Isamu didn't seem like a respectable person in this aspect. But what did it matter? Knives didn't feel too bad, he'd only just met this girl a couple of days ago. He just didn't like the idea of someone "taking advantage of her" (as he thought in his mind, at least).

Basically, it wasn't that he wished he'd been in Isamu's place. He just didn't want Dango to be hurt by some guy he didn't trust.

He sighed. "Well, I hope you had a good night last night."

Re: Lunch Box (Focus: Knives. Semi - Open. Ask first please)
Dango was too busy staring at the blinking red light on the laptop to realize how many people were settling into the cafeteria for lunch. She barely heard Knives come up behind her, but she felt his leg brush against her's when he took a seat beside her.

She almost jumped, but stopped herself when she realized who it was. She knew she was lucky he decided to show up, especially since he looked half - awake while sitting there.

"Hey there, So how was sleepin with Isamu?"

Quirking her eyebrow she wondered if he meant it the way it sounded. Silently she reached for the lunch box she had made for him and slid it towards his hand.

"I made this for you. An apology for taking off on you last night. I just wanted to sleep in a bed, so I hope you accept this. Just some homemade sushi rolls and rice dumplings. Nothing fancy."

It wasn't anything fancy, but she wasn't about to tell Knives she spent two hours in the morning making the lunch boxes in the school kitchen.

"Well, I hope you had a good night last night."

Was he being sarcastic? Whatever it was, it was pissing her off.

"Look, I don't mean to sound rude but whatever happened between Isamu and I last night is nobody's business. He was nice enough to offer me a warm bed to sleep in so I accepted it. However, if it will make you sleep better to know - I'm not that kind of girl"

She nudged towards the lunch box.

"Now, I worked really hard on this so please eat it. It will help you wake up a bit."

Re: Lunch Box (Focus: Knives. Semi - Open. Ask first please)
Knives smiled as she handed him the lunchbox. Both hands reached out, and he took it happily, sliding it towards him across the table until it came to rest right in front of him. Curious, even though she had just told him what it was, he popped it open and took a peek inside. Before he could even see the food, the warm, delicious smell came to his nose; he could tell it would be great, and seeing it wasn't half-bad either. He couldn't wait to dig in, his mouth was already watering. He looked up to her, and gave her a big, happy smile, revealing his fangs.

"Wow, you made lunch for me? That's awesome! I bet it's really good!" He didn't even seem the least bit mad at her. "You really didn't have to, I could have bought food..."

He opened it up, and was just about to dig in, when one of his ears - the one closest to Dango - twitched. He now remembered what he had said, and kicked himself, metaphorically, for saying it. He could tell, not only by her words, but by the annoyed tone she carried, that she'd taken it badly. Not that he blamed her, of course, he knew it didn't come out too well anyways.

He turned his head again, so that he was facing her. On his face was a somewhat-pitiful look, to show he was truly sorry. The corners of his mouth drooped slightly, his eyes were big and wide, and both of his dog ears drooped unhappily. "Shit, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it that way." He hesitated a moment, tilting his head to the side slightly. His eyes closed slightly, and his lips pursed in a thoughtful way. "Well, maybe I did with the first comment, but...that's only cause I'm kinda jealous." He gave her a big, sheepish grin. "After all, I was just about to offer you the same thing, I just didn't feel it was the best way to open a conversation...but yeah, I really do hope you had a good night, ya know, with sleep and all..." He nodded. It was true, he'd meant the second comment with sincerity, even if the first had carried a sarcastic tone to it.

He sighed, and looked down at the food again. He didn't move to eat yet, nor did he look back up at her. It was a couple of moments before anything happened, Knives remaining perfectly silent, seemingly deep in thought. His chin was back in the palm of his hand, resting there, supported by his elbow. Finally, with a sigh, he spoke; yet he didn't move his head yet, to look in her direction.

"I am glad you're not that type of girl, though...for your sake, not for any other reason." And with that, the subject ended. He Immediately began to eat; or at least, he tried. He looked down at the food for a moment, before turning his face back to Dango. This time, it carried a slightly confused look on it. "Uhhm...right, so how do you eat the rice balls. I mean...ya know...properly, like, with manners and stuff. Cause...it seems messy."

Re: Lunch Box (Focus: Knives. Semi - Open. Ask first please)
She watched him intently as he took the lunch box from her and slid it infront of him. She watched him peek inside, and she watched as his eyes lit up and his ears perked straight up.

It made her smile.

"Wow, you made lunch for me? That's awesome! I bet it's really good! You really didn't have to, I could have bought food..."

"You could of, but its my way of saying I'm sorry about last night"

Awkward silence. Dango wasn't sure if she should of said something else - or -

"Shit, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it that way."

"Uh - "

"Well, maybe I did with the first comment, but...that's only cause I'm kinda jealous."

Dango was a little taken back by that, the thought didn't even cross her mind.

"After all, I was just about to offer you the same thing, I just didn't feel it was the best way to open a conversation...but yeah, I really do hope you had a good night, ya know, with sleep and all..."

"Well, maybe it wasn't, but different people well, different people have different ways of looking at things. Next time, don't hesitate. Life's too short to analyze every single thing."

She paused for a moment, wondering if she should tell him the truth -

Glancing towards the table she cleared her throat, but the comment still came out as a hushed whisper -

"I didn't sleep well at all. I was too busy worrying about the way I treated you."

"I am glad you're not that type of girl, though...for your sake, not for any other reason."

She smiled slightly and nodded. What other reason could there be?

"Uhhm...right, so how do you eat the rice balls. I mean...ya know...properly, like, with manners and stuff. Cause...it seems messy."

"Oh - I'm sorry, I forgot to give you these - "

Ruffling through her bag she passed him a pair of wooden chopsticks.

"You do know how to use these right? I could get you a fork from the cafeteria if you wanted"

Re: Lunch Box (Focus: Knives. Semi - Open. Ask first please)
"You could of, but its my way of saying I'm sorry about last night" Knives laughed a little, and nodded, before lifting his head to look at her again. When he laid eyes on her face, he noticed her smile; once again, he noted mentally that he liked seeing her like this, it was always nice to get a pretty girl to smile. He gave her a quick shrug, and responded, "Meh, don't worry about it." He hadn't really been mad at her, anyways. Rather, he was just upset at the whole situation; though he was glad she apologized, it had been a little rude. He gave her a smile, to show her that everything was alright.

"Well, maybe it wasn't, but different people well, different people have different ways of looking at things. Next time, don't hesitate. Life's too short to analyze every single thing." Knives blinked. At first, he didn't really know how to respond. He hadn't been "analyzing" as she said; he just felt that asking a girl to sleep with you so quickly (even if it wasn't for sexual purposes) wasn't very respectable. It just wasn't the way he was raised; he was taught to treat girls right. So, rather than say anything, he just sat and watched her, his eyes following her as she looked down at the table, suddenly seeming a little bit nervous. He smiled again.

"I didn't sleep well at all. I was too busy worrying about the way I treated you." Knives had dog ears, and a dog's sense of hearing. For this reason, Dango's whisper was picked up rather easily, even with all of the noise going on around him. When he heard these words, he couldn't help but smile, though he tried to supress it. Of course, he didn't like that she couldn't sleep...but the fact that she felt bad about what she had done made him feel a little better. It meant she liked him. On top of that, it meant she was a good person; he felt more respect for someone who cared about others.

But he didn't want her to worry about him. He reached out with one of his hands, and let it come to rest on her shoulder gently. A big smile crossed his face. "You really didn't have to worry about me. I was alright...but I'm glad you cared enough." He laughed a little.

Now, she handed him the chopsticks. He looked down at them blankly for a moment, and then back up to her again. Though he had been in Japan for a while with his father, it had been in the mountains, with Americans. He had never had any reason to use chopsticks enough to really get the hang of them. He knew well enough how to use them, just like most people did (as a child, he wanted to try them every time his family had gone to a Chinese or Japanese restaurant - just like any curious child). But he knew he'd make a fool of himself. It didn't matter, though - that tended to happen to him. He liked making people laugh anyways, and had no problem laughing at himself.

"Oh...uhhhm....ok. I can try..."

The dog boy reached out and took the chopsticks from her. After looking at them for a moment, he tried to set them up in his hand the correct way - it took both hands to do so. When he had it somewhat right, he lifted it up to show Dango, a proud look on his face; yet the way he was holding them looked (to everyone who knew how to use them) kind of awkward. But he tried to eat like that, anyways. After struggling to pick up the rice ball (rice is hard with chopsticks! It fell apart every time he tried...) he gave up and moved on to the sushi, which was much, much easier.

After putting one in his mouth, his face lit up. He gave her a big smile (with his mouth closed because of the food...) and nodded happily. "Mmmmmmm..." He groaned happily. The taste filled his mouth; it was just as delicious as his other senses had told him it would be.

"Meh, don't worry about it."

She shook her head.

"You can't tell someone not to worry about things they are obviously going to worry about"

Quirking her eyebrow, she reached for her own lunch with a smile on her face. She just hoped that he liked sushi as much as she did. Sushi rolls were mild and a popular favorite among tourists, she didn't want to shock him too much by squeezing in an octopi like she did in her own lunchbox.

She reached for her chopsticks and picked up a baby one, its little happy face and tiny eyes didn't seem to bother her when she put it into her mouth.

"You really didn't have to worry about me. I was alright...but I'm glad you cared enough."

She chuckled slightly, glancing at him, perhaps there was a reason she treated him better than she treated everyone else who first met her. It could of been the fact that she was warming up to him a bit more easily than the rest.

And what mostly surprised her was that she didn't shy away, or get all tense when he put his hand on her shoulder.

This of course, even made her smile.

When he reached for the chopsticks she had stopped eating for the moment, watching him in his attempt to eat the riceballs with it. Even when he moved onto the sushi rolls he was still doing it wrong.

"Here, let me help you"

Dango moved closer to him and reached for his right hand, after all most people were right handed anyway. Her slender fingers over his were carefully putting the chopsticks in the right position. Guiding his right hand down to the dumpling she manuevered his fingers in such a way that he could easily pick up the dumpling and put it in his mouth.

"You see now why Asian's are all so skinny? Such an effort to eat a simple thing like rice! But some asian's see eating with chopsticks as a form of expression and art. Isn't that weird?"

Her face turned to his, and suddenly she realized just how close she was to him. Her shoulder was against his arm, her face was just a breath away from his cheek, and her soft hands still were resting ontop of his.

She blushed deeply, and quickly moved away from him so that she could give him the space he needed to eat properly. Trying to hide the blush she went straight back to her food, coughing nervously in the process.

"Um, gomen. I really didn't mean to pop your personal bubble"

Stuffing another octopi in her mouth she still bore the same smile, waiting until she was done chewing before she spoke again.

"Now you can go to any chinese or japanese restaurant and ask for their finest chopsticks in confidence!"

Re: Lunch Box (Focus: Knives. Semi - Open. Ask first please)
He could see the smile form on her face when he placed his hand on her shoulder. This, in turn, made a smile form on his face again; he liked seeing her happy. He also liked the fact that she was already comfortable with him, that she didn't mind him doing that. He hadn't realized he'd done it until he noticed the smile, actually. It was such a simple thing to him, a habit, as he was comfortable around nearly everyone, stranger or friend. Which could be why it was so easy for others to warm up to him.

Dango noticed he had done it wrong, and he laughed a little when she pointed it out. As he heard her offer help, he nodded and raised his right hand, which was still holding the chopsticks, slightly into the air and closer to her. This way, he wouldn't have to speak to show that he acknowledged and accepted her help; he didn't want to be rude, since he still had the sushi in his mouth; and though he was chewing, he wouldn't be able to politely speak in the next couple of seconds.

Knives barely noticed at first when she slid closer to him. He was, after all, used to physical contact, and the simple brushing against a girl's arm was not a big deal to him. But, as she pressed herself against him, and took his hand in hers, he couldn't help but smile; such a pretty girl, so close? He let his arm fall somewhat limp, so that she could guide it however she pleased, all the time his blue eyes were watching her do so.

Suddenly, she turned her head. Since his face was already towards her, they found themselves very, very close to one another. He could feel her warm breath, he could gaze straight into her eyes. Unlike Dango, Knives didn't get at all nervous or jumpy. He simply gave her a big smile, and remained in that spot even a few moments after she jumped back into her seat. And when he did turn back to his food, it was with a slight shrug, to show he didn't mind the position they'd found themselves in one bit...

"Um, gomen. I really didn't mean to pop your personal bubble" He laughed. "My personal bubble?" He hadn't heard anyone say something like that before...it was actually rather cute. He turned his head back to give her another big smile. "I don't mind you...uhhm...popping my bubble."

"Now you can go to any chinese or japanese restaurant and ask for their finest chopsticks in confidence!" He smiled. "Hooray!"

And with that, he attempted to put one of the rice balls into his mouth. It made it much farther than before....but not by much.

"I don't mind you...uhhm...popping my bubble."

She had to giggle at that, Knives was completly innocent in every sense of the word. She was uptight, straight forward, a little shy and wasn't really 'overly' friendly with people. Mysterious, secretive, it came with 'job.'

"Hooray!"

He tried the chopsticks again and she just sat there with a smile on her face.

"Don't worry, with a little more practice you will be a pro at it"

Another sushi roll was soon stuffed in her own mouth when she noticed the crowd start to 'thin' out a bit. People were leaving as the hour ticked away, soon leaving just the two of them alone in the cafeteria.

"Tell me more about yourself"

Now that they we were alone, she could actually focus on getting to know more about him.

Re: Lunch Box (Focus: Knives. Semi - Open. Ask first please)
Innocent? He might come across that way. Mostly, Knives was just a very happy and upbeat most of the time, and even a little goofy. But that made things all the more fun, usually; this was one of the reasons the dog boy found it so easy to get along with people. They always seemed to like him, because he was fun. And, ever since he'd met Dango, he hadn't found her to be very uptight, though maybe a little shy at times (although shy can mean cute most of the time!). Nor had he found her to be secretive; but maybe it was just because he tended not to notice these things. Besides, he hadn't been trying to learn about any of her secrets yet, so she hadn't had a reason to act secretive around him.

The next time he attempted to pick up a rice ball, he was able to make it halfway to his mouth. At that point, the ball collapsed (rice is hard to eat with chopsticks!) and rice fell all over his chest and in his lap. He blinked as he stared at the chopsticks, and then looked down at himself - rice was everywhere. He sighed, and set the chopsticks down, so that he could use both hands to scoop the rice up; he was able to get most of it back into the lunchbox, but a few bits of rice remained difficult to get, so he gave up and left them where they were. When he looked back up to see Dango's reaction, he noticed that she had been smiling the whole time, as she sat there, just watching him. He put a sheepish grin on, and laughed a little at himself.

"Don't worry, with a little more practice you will be a pro at it"

"Yeah, but it's hard!" He sighed, and went back to it. Now that he had set the chopsticks down, he had to struggle to get them back into his hands the same way as Dango had set them. Once again, he was holding them awkwardly, but it didn't seem to bother him. He just continued to eat, focusing on the sushi instead...."I'll eat this, then...hopefully it won't fall apart."

Knives hadn't noticed the crowd leave. He wasn't being very observant of his surroundings right now, because he didn't really care what the other students in the room were doing. Rather, he was focused mainly on his food, and on Dango. So, as time passed, it didn't occur to him that others were leaving, and that now he and Dango were the only ones in the room, aside from a few other stragglers that were busy with their own conversations, just like them.

"Tell me more about yourself......Anything your willing to share"

Knives's ears twitched as she spoke to him. He lifted his head, to turn and look at her. It was fortunate she'd caught him before he placed another bit of food in his mouth, or else he wouldn't have been able to answer; though he was holding the sushi roll about halfway to his mouth. So, he simply set it back down in the lunchbox, and began to think. His head tilted to the side at her question.

"Anything, huh?" He didn't really have anything to hide...his life really wasn't anything to be secretive or ashamed about. "Uhhm...I'm Knives, I'm half of some sort of dog-creature...uhhm..." He scratched his head. "I like sports, my favorite one is football...I'm from Texas, so this wasn't really a big move...uhhm..." He thought some more, trying to come up with something else interesting about himself. Then, he thought of it...with a laugh, he raised his hand up between them, open, with all of his fingertips pointed towards Dango. "Oh! And I can do this!" His fingernails began to glow blue, as they lengthened and sharpened, turning into claws. "Anything else you wanna know?" He smiled.

"And what about you? You have anything you can tell me about yourself?"

"I wish I could grow parts of my body back, I wouldn't have to worry about ever going to the salon again"

She, of course, was referring to his nails turning into claws. Having long nails was any girl's fantasy, or at least it was hers.

"And what about you? You have anything you can tell me about yourself?"

Politely Dango shook her head, she never gave anyone too much information about herself - no matter how comfortable she was with them. She had done that one time in the past, and the results weren't exactly favorable.

Her ex boyfriend learned that first hand, and that 'incident' happened after a year they had been together -

She didn't want to think about it, not right then anyway.

"I guess I'm pretty boring, aren't I?"

Dango looked at her now empty lunchbox, and then gazed at the clock. She really couldn't keep the agency much longer, she would have to head some place private before the hour was up.

"I would love to sit here and spend time with you all day, but I really must be going. There a few important things I have to do, and time unfortunately is of the essence"

Dango stood up, and extended her hand towards him.

"Thank you for showing up and spending time with me, hopefully we can do it again some time"

"I wish I could grow parts of my body back, I wouldn't have to worry about ever going to the salon again" Knives blinked and stared at her. It took him a while to understand what she was saying, as he didn't think it had anything to do with his abilities. Then, he blinked and looked down at his claws, and laughed a little; it finally clicked. He reached behind his head, and scratched a little, before responding. "Oh, no, I can't grow fingernails back. They just turn into claws when I want em too. If one of my claws got cut off or somethin I couldn't grow it back..." He shrugged.

"I guess I'm pretty boring, aren't I?"

"What? Nooo...you're pretty cool." He smiled. But it seemed that he'd already caused a problem or something, for Dango seemed a little bit bothered now. He noticed the look on her face, but he couldn't completely interpret it. Did he bring something up that was bad? Maybe she just didn't want to answer his question? Either way, she didn't seem happy anymore. A frown crossed his lips, and he tilted his head to the side, showing a look of confusion.

"Did I say somethin wrong?"

But it was too late. She was already getting up from her seat. His eyes followed her as she moved, and he had to tilt his head back to look up at her once she was standing. He blinked a couple of times, very confused now. She was getting ready to leave, and it seemed to be because of his question, for some reason!

"You...you have to go?" He asked, his frown growing. The look on his face was one of disappointment, but it was obvious he was just playing around by the look in his eyes; if she was going to go, it would happen. Though he truly didn't want her to, he wasn't going to stop her if she felt like she needed to. He let out a deep sigh, and rested his chin in his hand again, supported by his elbow on the table. "Awww...."

"Thank you for showing up and spending time with me, hopefully we can do it again some time"

He nodded and smiled to her. "Yeah. Just come find me if you wanna hang out, I'm not hard to find..."
