Manfred's Disturbing Sight (The Return connecting thread)
Manfred lost his footing as he was walking through the corridor and reached out just in time to stop himself from falling to the floor. Clutching the wall he turned and with his back to the wall he Leaned up, breathing heavily as the latest in his memory lapses took a hold of him and slowly progressed, his whole body twitching unpleasantly as his mind was completely wiped of every memory he had, his diamond scar atop his forehead was glowing a bright luminous purple colour.

As the scar dimmed at the end of the process and phased back to being dormant the now clueless man blinked once and looked around at his surroundings and at some distant onlookers who had stopped curiously when they saw their Professor stop so suddenly with the light emitting from his scar. The dim-witted Manfred now didn't notice his own wand levitating out of his pocket until it had actually floated directly to his eyeline, at which point he raised his real arm out in interest to touch what he thought was a 'pretty floating stick' with the tip of his finger, like a moth that was attracted to a flame.

Before touching it however, a far-away sound of a roaring dragon speaking a Parseltongue incantation could be heard and the wand emmited a rainbow light that flowed straight into Manfred's scar. After a moment the wand guided itself back into Manfred's pocket as the last of his memories were restored and he reached up his real arm and rubbed his eyes roughly with his thumb and fore-finger, "Eleven years ..." he sighed to himself, "I have got to find another way to deal with this." he finished coupghing slightly as he bent down and picked up his bag and booklet of notes that he had dropped when the memory attack had started.

Standing up straight he glanced around and for the first time noticed that a few students were looking warily at him. He had lived with his condition for many years and was used to people staring but one young Gryffindor boy looked particularly, scared and had backed up to the wall as far as he could go. "No need to worry, Mr Walker," he said sofly adding, "I'm perfectly okay ... It can be a bit of a shock witnessing that ... But really, I'm fine." he assured him.

Re: Manfred's Disturbing Sight (The Return connecting thread
Along with a couple of other students Casey Walker had been walking through the same corridor returning to his common room at the time of Professor Pillkid's attack. Most of the students at Hogwarts knew about Manfred's condition and a few had even seen the disturbing process in action but as for Casey Walker, he had never seen it before and as it had begun he had skidded to a stop on his damp trainers. The boy had been slowly making his way back from resting outdoors. He had clumsily stumbled and fallen into the fountain ending up half emersed in the water.

After a failed attempt to magically dry himself off he had given up and headed inside slipping unsteadily over the cold stone floors. Having pressed himself up to the wall, he gingerly leaned forward slightly once the purple light had faded. "P-Professor?" he asked shakily as Manfred looked around in bewildement, "Are you ... okay?" The man however, had completely ignored him instead choosing to glance around with a dazed look about him. When Casey actually noticed that the Professors wand was rising steadily out of his pocket and had come to settle in front of Manfred's eyes, Casey had a sudden impulse to run and grab it.

Luckily for the both of them, Casey's fear had kept him rooted to the spot only until the echoey roar had filled the corridor from an unknown source, the wand had cast the counter spell as Casey had cowered down to the ground thinking there was some ferocious animal closing in. Still a little unsure as to whether the Professor was okay he breathed an uneasy sigh. "I ... I've heard about that ... But I never thought ... It looked horrible, sir." he said not mincing words, "I wanted to help you." he added now slowly rising back up.

Manfred surveyed Casey up and down when he said he had wanted to help him, "That is very kind of you Casey but it's really nothing that I need help with ... You saw how my wand corrected me, did you not?" he asked the boy pointedly who was now rising back up to his feet nodding slowly, "Good, and believe me ... Interfering with the process is very dangerous ... Both to me and the person who gets in the way," he added with a stern look of warning on his face but giving an appreciative smile to Casey, "so it's a good thing that you didn't try to stop the wand from performing it's job." he said smiling.

Changing the subject, the Deputy Headmaster now looked inquisitively down at the floor which had become rather wet and slippery looking further he noticed that it looked as though most of the water was coming from the Gryffindors’ damp clothes. "Had a good time swimming in the fountain, did you?" he chuckled to him in amusement, "Try 'Arefacio' ... It should clear up the floor as well." he said offering him a tip and pointing to the boys wand that he could see with his magic vision through the material of the shirt pocket.

Suddenly Manfred's eyes flashed and emitted a bright violent red. "Oh? Sorry Mr Walker, just one moment." Manfred said in mild surprise and looking back over to the boy, "I'm just getting a ... Well, I guess you could call it a telephone call," he said with a slight laugh at his own wit and pointing to the bright glow. "So what have you got for me today old friend?" he said pleasantly, as he turned away from the young Gryffindor obviously now speaking to whoever it was sending the call. A cloudy image was projected from bright red glow of his eyes into the air and began to take shape in front of him.

Casey's eyes widened in wonderment when the professor told him that he was better off not trying to lend a hand, he was trying to imagine just what could have happened to the both of them if he had been brave enough to have plucked the wand out of the air before it cast the spell that had reversed the curse on his teacher but figured that it was best to only speculate about it. Nodding reverently to make it clear that he understood when Professor Pillkid mentioned that he had done the right thing by not trying to stop the wand.

Then looking uncomfortably around at the floor just that moment remembering that his clothes were still rather wet from his clumsy fall into the fountain, he turned a bright shade of pink when Manfred asked if he had enjoyed his swim. "I wasn't swimming ... I ... I slipped ... That's all." he squeaked indignantly in a rather higher voice than he normally would. Never the less he took out his wand and sure enough after a couple of attempts and some encouragement from Professor Pillkid he nailed the spell and all the moisture evaporated leaving a fresh dryness. "Thanks, sir."

Having only recently seen one of the Deputy Headmasters memory attacks this other sudden burst of red light also made Casey jump slightly, " o-okay professor ..." From what Casey had already seen he was now sensible enough to wait for confirmation before working himself up. Sure enough according to the man before him it was nothing to be alarmed about though when he stared at him with the red glow in his eye it looked quite creepy. As Manfred turned away from the boy he stood and watched in interest as an image formed in front of the man.

Re: Manfred's Disturbing Sight (The Return connecting thread
Manfred's magical sight was linked with a Norwegian Ridgeback Dragon and long term 'old friend' of his named Sheeraka, and on rare occasions, both he and the dragon shared sight which allowed them to see what the other was seeing. The images being projected by Manfred's eyes were that of Sheeraka who appeared to be somewhere in the Forbidden forest. The dragon was crouched low behind cover of the trees in a shadowy space and was looking out through the leaves at a far off tall hooded figure, who was wearing white robes that had distinct dark stains all over them.

At the sight of this person Manfred gasped, his breath catching in his throat for a moment. The figure was slowly walking through the thick undergrowth, heading away from Sheeraka’s position who must have been stealthily shadowing the figure as the image kept moving along behind but keeping it's distance and staying out of sight. Even for a creature as big as Sheeraka he was able to conceal himself very effectively in the darkness of the forest. In the distance above the tree canopy one the highest of Hogwarts towers could be seen and the figure was walking towards it.

"Okay Sheeraka, keep an eye on him and I'll make the arrangements!" Manfred said in a hurry and the image turned to mist before completely disappearing along with the eerie red glow of his eyes. He turned back to Casey now with a very serious look on his face. "Mr Walker, I want you to run, not walk back to your Common Room immediately and tell anyone that you meet along the way to do the same, if they give you any problems tell them it an order from me not a request." he said pausing for only a second, the boy now looking very confused and unsure.

"DO YOU UNDERSTAND? he said in a raised voice stepping forward. After a shaky nod from the Casey, he then said briefly, "When you get there, give the 'Fat Lady' this message from the Deputy Headmaster ... 'Preparation red', and DO NOT leave the Common Room, you got that?" he barked. The boy already moving back toward the passage that lead to the Gryffindor Common Room gave a quick series of nods and ran down the corridor, Manfred himself now turned on his heel and ran off toward the Headmasters Office.

Re: Manfred's Disturbing Sight (The Return connecting thread
Now back to a state of worry similar to what he had been at when he first skidded to a halt in the corridor before Casey was now running through the corridors trying to remember the right path to take for the short-cut to the Common Room. From what he had seen of the very brief magical vision that he had been watching over the Professors shoulder he could only guess who the person in the cloak had been and judging by the teachers reaction, he figured it couldn't be good.

"Preparation red ... preparation red ..." he kept saying it to himself as he ran up a staircase to make sure it stuck in his head, not wanting to foul up and forget. Also as he ran a whole host of other questions were going through his mind: What could it mean? Why did Professor Pillkid look so worried? Are we in danger? Now a couple of floors up from where he had met the professor he kept running, still focused on his message to the 'Fat Lady' he suddenly collided with a solid object and crashed to the floor hearing someone cry out in surprise.
