Music! Alright, here are some links to 3 songs that I've been working on. Keep in mind none of these are finished, or have names. They're in midi format, so don't laugh if the instruments sound a little funny. Everything sounds better in real life anyways. For any of you whom are musically inclined, suggestions would be welcome, as well as possible names for the songs. For those of you less musically inclined, comments and what you think of these would be appreciated. And on to the links. Song 1 - This is a piano piece that I wrote about a year ago, well the beginning. The second part where the tempo picks up a bit I worked on yesterday. It's one of the happier pieces that I've written and quite pretty. Song 2 - This one is a piece that I was going to write for the percussion ensemble at school to maybe try out. My instructor liked the beginnings of it, but I haven't worked on it in a while. It's quite a bit more upbeat than the last one, and maybe gives the image of a battle scene? I dunno, let me know what you guys think. Song 3 - Another percussion ensemble piece, well the mallet parts at least since that's what I play. This one is a little darker than the last, and maybe give the image of a dark forest. At least that's what I get out of it. Gets darker sounding as the song goes on. Well, that's a few I'd like to share. I have others, as well as some guitar music, but they're not nearly as far along as these. I might post up some songs that my rock band (I play guitar in that) are working sometime in the future. Untill then, enjoy! |

Re: Music! Sure! I'd love to hear anything you got out them. Music is just like art: what someone gets out of it depends on their prospective. |

Re: Music! Oooh... great stuff, Iz! The third one, I can hear as a soundtrack to something where the characters are runnin' out of time. I like the tubular bells, too. Always been fond of those. Would those be in the real version, as well? Not quite sure why, but the second one evokes a hint of the Orient ... not a lot, just a little taste. The first one's pretty. Keep us updated on these, eh? -- |

Re: Music! Thanks! Hmm, as for the tubular bells (or chimes if you perfer) in the third one, yup, they'd be in the real version. But the midi in my opinion makes them sound horrible (but they're kinda quiet for some reason), all out of tune and stuff. They basically just playing long whole notes, so I might be thinking you mistook them for the vibraphone, which was playing a little melodic line? The midi makes the vibes sound like chimes *shrugs*. And sure thing I'll keep updating just as fast as I get 'em written. Music writing sure can go slow at times... |

Re: Music! Hmmm... *Thinks for a moment and writes down names for later thought* Those sound pretty neat. Might use one or two of 'em, but perhaps I'll wait till I finish the songs completely 'fore naming them. Always easier to name after something finished, right? |

Re: Music! ^_^ Those were great! The first one made me smile, though I'm not sure why. It just brought forth some happy feelings. I think that that (the first) one kind of reminds me of a village in most RPG games... like those happy little villages in the middle of nowhere where you stock up on treats and stuff. I noticed the Orient thing in the second one, as well... it was only there for about a second... and I'd like to hear more of that in it! The third one reminds me of background music in a fighting game (like those ones from SNES and such), in that it could just keep on going and you wouldn't get tired of hearing it. Sorry if I sound a bit prejudiced towards what the midis remind me of... most of the ones I hear come from www.vgmusic.com ... (some good stuff!) Though you could beat them all. ^_~ |

Re: Music!
Heh, I had that kind of image of the little village for the first one too. I do love video game music. I suppose that's where I get some of my inspiration from. *Sigh* Maybe if SNES were still popular I could write music for old RPG's. Thanks for the comments.
