Nelly the emu chick
Nelly the emu chick

Yesterday we were blessed to have a beautiful striped emu chick around two weeks old come in to see us. Seeming to be a long way from home, this chick was found in a Bowen Hills carpark all alone. She was full of attitude and personality, and made it known that she did not appreciate her examination by Dr Stacey. Declared fit and healthy, we then were faced with the problem of finding her a home and more emu chicks to grow up with. Luckily after a few phone calls, another young chick was located on a property outside Tara, and tomorrow Nelly will go travelling once again.

Interesting Fact: Emu chicks never see their mums – they are raised by their dads!
