Well, its the weekend here at MHS. Wouldn't it be great if all schools started on a Friday for the first day of school. What a way to start off. You get a weekend right after your first day. Well, this is because we are done with the first day of class. How so you ask. As you only went to one class. yes, but I am sure that doing the same thing for each class would get boring. So the one class you experienced is basically how all the classes are going to be.
Teacher posts role. Day gets started, end of class happens, everyone goes to their next class, or home..
Well, ezboard still hasn't confirmed anything on a final date when everything is changed over to Yuku. And we are working on what to do next. We all want user friendliness after everything is changed away from Ezbaord, and we are trying everything we can to ensure that we have just that when we are at a new board hosting site.
We have a guest book. Take a look. If you haven't taken a look yet, be sure and do so. ^_^

New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)
The night had set for a bit now, and the sky was dark now. Yet, the sky was completely clear and cloudless, so that the campus still shone bright under the nearly-full moon and the stars that specked the sky. Most of the students were asleep, leaving the place quiet and peaceful. It was a great night to enjoy.
Which was just was Knives was doing. He was a new student, and had nowhere else to go; he had only just moved in a couple hours ago, and the office was closed now, so that he was unable to apply for a dorm room until morning. But it was fine; he would wait. Besides, he liked it outside, especially at night when the moon was so big. In fact, midnight walks tended to be his thing anyways….tonight it would just have to last a little longer than usual, as he might have to sleep out here tonight.
The student wandered across the grassy area nearby the lake, his deep blue eyes gazing out across the calm water, enjoying the sight as the moon and stars glinted across the silvery surface of the water. His lips parted into a smile, so that his teeth showed, revealing his large, sharp canine teeth, which were almost like fangs. Occasionally, his German Shepard ears would twitch, whenever there was the sound of an owl hooting or a cricket chirping. Every time they did this, his longish, curly brown hair, which fell to his eyebrows in the front and past where his ears should be on the side, to move a bit along with them.
With a big sigh, he closed his eyes. Then, he tilted back his head, so that his hair hung back and away from his face, and let his eyelids open enough so that he could look directly at the moon. A big smile came back to his lips, as he said into the night, “Wow, a new school. Can’t wait to see what it’s like.” He didn’t think anyone was around (but he wasn’t paying attention to see if anyone was, either), and even if they were, he probably wouldn’t mind them overhearing. “Guess I gotta find a place to sleep now, huh?”

Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)
"You should...It's not safe to be outside so late, and alone no less."
Mayde if the new student were to turn and see where the gentle voice was coming from, he would see first a girl in a dress as dark as the midnight sky, long flowing sleeves, white and delicate lace trim that could glow in the moonlight. There were black ribbons braided into her copper blond hair. In her right hand, there was a Tai Chi sword, still in its black laquer-and-gold sheath. The second thing he would notice aside from her style were the small white wings.
The girl glanced around the lake, as if searching for someone and then her dark eyes settled on the new student. She was silent for a moment, maybe trying to decide if she should ask something or not.
"You...didn't see anything strange around here, ne?"
Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)
Knives’s dog ear twitched a bit at the voice from behind him, and he turned around. “Whoa, someone’s really out this late?” He laughed. “I thought I was the only one…so that smell really was a human.” He shrugged at this, and then looked over at the girl with his deep blue eyes, which glinted along with the smile he gave her, unintentionally showing her his fangs.
”You should…it’s not safe to be outside so late, and alone no less.”
Knives chuckled a little. “Oh, I think I can take care of myself.” He didn’t have his sword on him, because he didn’t like carrying it when he was pretty sure he wouldn’t need it. After all, the sword sheath was not very comfortable, and got in the way of his sitting down and whatnot often. So, he left it with his stuff, back in his truck, until morning – when he could get a room. “Besides, I don’t have a room to go to right now, so I think I gotta sleep out here tonight.”
He noticed that she was looking out towards the water, and his own eyes followed her gaze. He blinked for a moment as he looked out at the smooth, silvery water with her, before his eyes turned back to her.
“You...didn't see anything strange around here, ne?” Knives shook his head. “Uhhm, not if you think the lake is strange….” He shrugged. “Why, whatcha lookin for?”

Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)
The winged girl seemed to be uncomfortable with his question, she had rubbed the back of her neck and averted her eyes. Should she bother telling this young man about the strange dreams she would have: porclain white arms rising from lake, reaching for the sky. A light in the center, the faint sound of bells. The hands would start to bleed from the palm and there would be voices...
No, don't you dare think about that now...you don't have to worry the poor guy.
"Well..."
She looked at her hand, her quartz pendulum resting in her palm. No reaction, no light. What in the world was she expecting anyways? Dreams were just that, but still...it would never erase the fear of other dreams.
"Not really...I've just been coming here a lot, but I don't kow why. Maybe it's just the lake's allure."
Amber looked up at him, part of his words had finally surfaced in realization.
Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)
Knives noticed her hesitation in answering his question, and tilted his head to the side curiously. He watched her for a moment, as she seemed to struggle with something. And when she answered, it was quite obvious she was hiding something; but it wasn’t his business, so he didn’t worry about it. He simply shrugged and nodded at her answer, and went on with his own thoughts.
“Yeah, the lake is pretty cool, especially at night, when the moon’s so big.” He smiled, and turned back to face the lake. He lifted his arms up so that he could rest his hands on the back of his head, his fingers running through some of his long curly hair. With a bit of a sigh, he fell back onto the ground, landing in a sitting position; first, from the momentum, he fell backwards even more, onto his back, with his legs in the air. But, as he shifted his weight a bit, he came back into his sitting position, with his hands back behind him on the ground to support him. Now settled, he gazed out at the water some more with his blue eyes.
”Wait….you don’t have a room yet?”
He shrugged and looked up at her. “Nope.” He smiled. “I found out that you can’t get a room if you move in at night.”

Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)
Something about this man seemed too familiar to her, she thought to herself again. Amber was slow to realize it (sleeplessness always delayed her observations) but the boy had fangs. A half-breed, like and unlike herself. It made sense that he had not stared too long at those wings of hers, thank goodness.
"I do hope you have somewhere to stay at least...sleeping out here would be uncomfortable."
Amber, taking care in the fact she was wearing a dress, seated herself on the grass. The sword meanwhile rested next to her, the gold prints on the laquer sheath glowing in the moonlight. Her other companion, tied to her wrist, was not visible beneath the flowing sleeves, but there was blue light glowing steady under the dark sleeves. The girl didn't look at him as she spoke, but her alert eyes stared at the lake.
"You're a half-breed...quite a few here at the school."
Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)
Knives hadn't seen any half-breeds before, but the fact that he'd stayed for two years with his father's pack of dog creatures had gotten him accustomed to strange people. Besides, he expected this sort of thing from a school that trained people like this. He had noticed the wings, of course - he'd never seen a girl with wings, and he thought it was really cool. But he also knew better than to bother her about it; maybe if he got to know her better or something. But at his old school, it wasn't pleasant when attention was drawn to the way he was...even though he liked his unique traits at first, and wasn't the least bit ashamed now that he was in a school like this.
He turned to look at her, and noticed her still looking out across the water...but it wasn't like it should be. In her eyes, he saw a look of alertness, possibly worry or fear. At this sight, his ears drooped a bit, and his head tilted to the side. His own eyes carried a look of curiosity, even worry for this girl...something was wrong, and she wasn't telling him. But he wasn't going to push her, she'd already avoided the question. So, he went back to being light and casual, even though he kept attention focused around him, in case something happened: he listened intently with his heightened hearing.
"I do hope you have somewhere to stay at least...sleeping out here would be uncomfortable."
He shrugged. "Nope, I don't. But it's ok, it'll be like camping!" He laughed a bit. "I've always liked camping..." He smiled and turned to look at her. "Uhhm, you're welcome to join me, it'll be fun!" But as he looked at her, something caught his eye....a blue light coming from her sleeve. He blinked, and rolled over so that he was on all fours. Slowly, he crept towards her, head down and blue eyes gazing intently at the light. As he came closer, he leaned his head in and poked his nose at her sleeve, and sniffed it....he looked just like a dog doing this, in a sort of funny way. "What's this?" He lifted his head and looked up at her, just in time to hear her speak too.
"You're a half-breed...quite a few here at the school."
"Yup! My dad was some sort of dog creature, I just found out about it a couple years ago.." He nodded. "What about you? What are you?" He felt it wasn't a problem to ask now, since she'd already asked him....

Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)
"Camping..."
Amber supposed it was similar, though she had never cared for camping out. It did present an opportunity to watch the lake for any disturbances. The past few nights, nothing had happened but something about the night surrounding the two of them bothered her.
"I can't sleep at all. Haven't been able to for a long time, so I suppose I can camp out here."
She finally looked down as sniffed her sleeve, but moved her hand away from his nose. By that gesture alone, she remembered why she thought this person was familiar. Luck was on the young man's side; if it had not been for the similar person, she probably would've been much more nervous than usual. Amber lifted her hand, letting the pendulum slide from under her sleeve.
"Careful...it'll burn you. A friend of mine learned that the hard way. He still has the mark on his palm."
The quartz crystal swung left to right, glowing a blue light once and then stopped. Amber's calm expression didn't change from the movement and she caught the pendulum in her palm. It was cool to the touch as always.
"Half-angel...that's what I am. Or as few would know it..." Her expression held more of a sadness now and her voice was much softer.
"Nephilim."
And then she would quickly change the subject: "You should meet Rafael. He's a kind person and I think you two are similar. You remind me of him."
Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)"I can't sleep at all. Haven't been able to for a long time, so I suppose I can camp out here." He looked up from where he was sniffing her sleeve. "Great! I don't have to sleep alone!" He laughed a bit. "This is gonna be pretty fun!"
Knives watched as she lifted her hand, his head moving so that his eyes could follow it, but he didn't move from his position on all fours. As the pendulum fell from her sleeve, he blinked a bit, and tilted his head sideways in curiosity, his blue eyes gazing at it for a moment. When the blue light glowed and then stopped, he blinked again, and looked up at Amber, about to say something; but she started first.
"Careful...it'll burn you. A friend of mine learned that the hard way. He still has the mark on his palm."
He looked back at it again, this time his ears drooping a bit, and then backed away from it enough to be safe. "Really? Then you probably shouldn't be keeping it in your sleeve," He smiled up at her. "Anyways....why'd it glow blue just now?"
"Half-angel...that's what I am. Or as few would know it..." His eyes widened. "Really? Oh wow, that's so cool!" He lifted himself up to a sitting position to look her in the eye, now pretty close to her. He doesn't seem to care, or possibly he just doesn't notice, how close they are. "You seem so sad about it....how come?"
But she's already changed the subject, causing Knives to blink and tilt his head to the side curiously again. "You should meet Rafael. He's a kind person and I think you two are similar. You remind me of him." He smiled, and sat back, so his face wasn't so close anymore. "Aww, I'm a kind person?" He laughed a bit. "So that means you like me? Awesome! I like you too!" He smiled some more, looking over at her again. "Soooo....you're my first friend here! Then again," He shrugged, "you're also the first person I've met..."

Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)
Amber smiled when he had said Djibril should stay in her sleeve, something people don't seem to notice. The girl seemed all right in explaining what it was. There was very few times when she can explain it without being seen as weird.
"Affinity is very important, a bond between people, or just a person to a beloved object. My pendulum has an affinity to me, so if anyone else tried to steal it or use it, it'll burn violently. Call it protection if you will. My sword has a similar protective seal on it...but that's something different. As for the light...it glows different colors, but I haven't been able to decipher the meaning of all the colors yet."
He had leaned in quite close, and out of reaction, Amber had leaned back just sightly. She probably had not realized she had done so. However, the young man (she should remember to learn his name) had asked about her being, why it had made her sad to be half holy. The winged girl couldn't bring herself to answer him, not without the possibility of scaring him away.
I hope...he never has to see why...
"I can say that you're quite lively. So I'm the first, I would be sure you would've met others. There a few that prefer the night to the day. A few students are nice, and then there are others to be wary of. This school is quite interesting...you'll be able to see why for yourself."
Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)
"Affinity, huh?" He sat back again, turned to face her now, with his legs tucked in, "indian style." Once hand moved to his head, and he scratched slightly, as if thinking a bit. "I think I've heard of that before. My dad talked about a legendary sword that his pack takes care of, which only lets people of my race touch it. At least, I think it's the same." He tilted his head to the side agian, and then shrugged. His eyes wandered back to her, and he gave her a big smile. "So those things only let you touch em? That's good, now you know no one's gonna steal em!" He laughed a bit.
He noticed she didn't answer his question; she'd obviously heard it, by her facial expression and body language, though he could also tell that she didn't want to respond to it. It didn't bother him though; he could tell that, for some reason, what she was bothered her. And because she seemed sad about it, and wouldn't talk about it, he left it alone...if she wanted to tell him, she would. So, he continued like normal, as if the question had never been asked; there was still a big, fang-toothed grin on his face, and he seemed happy, especially since he had a new friend.
"I can say that you're quite lively. So I'm the first, I would be sure you would've met others...." He shrugged. "I'm not that surprised, I just got here tonight. There's not really been much time to meet anybody, especially since I'm sure the majority of em are still asleep, even if some aren't." He turned back to face the lake, but decided to let his body fall back, so that he was laying sprawled out across the grass. His blue eyes gazed up at the stars.
"...A few students are nice, and then there are others to be wary of. This school is quite interesting...you'll be able to see why for yourself."
He blinked, turning his head to the side so that he could look up at her instead of the sky. "Wary of? Like....bad people? That's probably not too good if they have powers too..." He shrugged, and turned his gaze back to the sky. "Ehhh, I can take em." He laughed a bit.

Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)
The girl nodded when he talked about the sword. Affinity worked exactly like that, it was the most important bond that was stonger than anything. Most people may not believe in it, but she knew there are believers hidden in the nooks and crannies of the human race.
"It's the same."
Her fingers played with the crystal, switching back and forth from each hand in an absent manner. It had stopped glowing, meaning a calm has washed over the lake, maybe.
"I don't mean to say they are bad, because I could be wrong. From just the ones I do know, some have selfish intent and that's all. Just be wary of them is all that I advise." The girl shrugged and continued, "Maybe it's just me being judgemental, or careful. The lines blur at times..."
She glanced over at him, her eyes dark as the night. Light never tends to glimmer in those dark voids, but the moon gave her a reprive from that curse for tonight. Many (late) observations came into her mind: yes, he had a more dog-like ears than a human. Did that mean he was a half inu-kami? Instead of asking, another realization popped in her mind. Amber gave him a sheepish smile, forgetfulness came with the lack of sleep.
Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)"It's the same." He nods and smiles to her, and then gives her a short response. "Cool."
"I don't mean to say they are bad, because I could be wrong. From just the ones I do know, some have selfish intent and that's all. Just be wary of them is all that I advise....Maybe it's just me being judgemental, or careful. The lines blur at times..." Knives shrugged a bit. "There are some of those types out there. Nothin really to be worried about, though they can be bothersome at times." He smiled up at her. "That's just how some people are. At least you're not like that, huh?"
With that, he turned back to look at the sky again, enjoying the scene above him. The night always seemed to him to be very peaceful, and he especially liked it when he could see the stars and the moon above him. To add to the effect, such a night reminded him of the time he spent with his father in the mountains, where there were no man-made lights around to detract from the beauty of the night sky....it was much like that tonight, in this clearing around the lake. With these thoughts, Knives couldn't help but comment.
"Don't ya love it when the sky looks like this?" He turned his head to her again and smiled. "I really like the starry sky, it just looks cool." This time, when he turned, he noticed she was looking back at him as well. It seemed like, so far during the time they'd spent together, she hadn't done this much....but now, he was able to take this chance to look into her eyes. Ironically, they were dark - quite the opposite of what he was expecting in an angel. But it didn't seem like a bad thing at all - her eyes were actually rather pretty. He immediately allowed his smile to grow larger, trying to be friendly and happy for this girl that seemed sad a lot of the time.
"Oh...sorry, I don't even know your name yet..." He blinked, and then laughed. "Oh, wow, I don't know yours either! I'm Knives Angelico," He said, pointing to himself.

Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)
The girl looked up at the sky. The sentiment was half the same, there were times when she felt eyes watching her...and not just any eyes. Heavenly eyes, demonic eyes, both were enough to give her the creeps. But it was his name that turned her attention to him. She tilted her head curiously as he introduced himself. It wasn't that it was familiar more than it was peculiar.
"Knives? That's an interesting name...any special reason for it?"
The girl glanced over at her sword, resting her fingers along the laquer, the gold flowers that could probably bloom beneath the moonlight. A sad smile crossed her face again, but it was one more of nostalgic one than one of mere sadness.
"You know...my mother had always said dad named me after a friend of his...Ambriel, the angel of the month of May and the sign Gemini." The winged girl shook her head, and her wings drooped just slightly, emulating her mood.
Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)
Knives glanced over at her after he'd asked his question, and tilted his head a bit, his ears drooping some. He could tell that she was in the midst of thought...but he couldn't tell her reaction to his question, whether she agreed or if the sky bothered her right now. Yet she did not react the same as when he'd commented on her being an angel....so Knives knew that, whatever she was thinking about, it wasn't that bad. So, he simply returned his gaze to the stars.
"Knives? That's an interesting name...any special reason for it?" He shrugged. "Nothin special. Everyone thinks it's a bit weird, but my dad said it's absolutely normal for people of his race." He looked over to her again, his eyes following her hands down to the sword, then he noticed that sad look on her face again. This caused his ears to droop a little more; he hated it when good people like her were so sad. And yet, he didn't know why, or how to help, so he simply let out a small sigh.
"You know...my mother had always said dad named me after a friend of his...Ambriel, the angel of the month of May and the sign Gemini.... He's not of this world anymore." Knives nodded. But she seemed to only get sadder when thinking of this. This made him frown a bit. He placed his hands on the ground, so that he could push himself into a sitting position, and then scoot closer to the girl. Now he was sitting, facing her, his legs crossed and his hands resting on his thighs. He gave her a look of sympathy, his head tilted to the side and his ears still drooping. "I-I'm sorry to hear that. Are you ok?"

"I'm all right, no need to worry."
Amber smiled at him and patted the top of his head. Knives was sweet, the winged girl thought to herself. He was a total stranger, and yet he had been so at ease with her since they started talking. It was a rarity outside of the school, so she welcomed it when since she had arrived at MHS.
"I don't believe he's really dead...he's an angel, but the person that I knew of as my father is."
And then the change of subject again, she did not feel like being sad again.
Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)"I'm all right, no need to worry." He nodded a bit, but still frowned at her, knowing she wasn't telling him the whole truth. After all, she'd been pretty sad-looking since he met her, and it sort of bothered him. But when she reached over to pat him on the head, he couldn't help but smile a bit; he loved being petted, and immediately nuzzled his head into her hand just like a dog would. She was a pretty cool girl, he just didn't like the fact that he was sad, and he couldn't help her....
"I don't believe he's really dead...he's an angel, but the person that I knew of as my father is." He blinked, and looked up at her again, this time tilting his head to the side curiously, his ears poking up again. This sounded like a good reason for her to cheer up, rather than something she should be sad about. "He's not dead? That's good! I mean, if he's still around, that's a good thing, right?"
"Question, are you son of an inukami?" Knives blinked. The word sounded familiar, but he wasn't sure why. His father had told him what they were....but Knives could not for the life of him remember what it was. He tilted his head to the side again curiously, and looked up at her. "Uhhm...what's an inukami? I think I've heard of it, but....I don't really remember..."

Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)
Amber realized too late that the boy probably wouldn't know Japanese, ironic because she knew very little despite living there for several years of her life. Thinking of Japan, of the sundays in the streets of Harajuku, cherry blossoms; she had seemed to cheer up as she gave her explaination.
"Inu is Japanese for dog, kami is god. Therefore a dog-god...I thought you were that, simply because canine half breeds aren't very common."
There was a short moment of contemplative silence from the winged girl as she tried to choose her words. A finger played with an end of the dark ribbons braided into her hair.
"Ah...Japan's my second home, yet I don't know very much Japanese outside of lore, legends, and basic words my sister taught me."

Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)
He laughed a bit at the explanation. Then, he turned back to look at her with a big smile on his face. "You think I'm some sort of god? Nahh....there's some sort of race of dog creatures, I don't really remember what they're called. Maybe that word's familiar because maybe that's the Japanese name of the race of something....I have a feeling someone once thought that up long, long ago...." He shrugged a bit, "But we're usually mistaken for dog demons, not gods..."
A smile crossed his lips as the girl cutely played with the ribbon, and then he stretched and fell back again, so that he was laying across the grass once more. He sprawled his arms out to either side, and his long hair fell across the grass, spread out all over the place on the ground.
"Japan, huh? That sounds cool! I've never been there." (OOC: this school's based in the US, right? AHS was in Japan...) He turned his head to the side again, so that he could look at her again. "I'm from Texas, down south of the US. I've been to Mexico, but that's it for out of the country...and I know no language other than English." He shrugged again. "I dunno, never had a reason to learn any language..."
Then, he thought of something else... "You have a sister? Huh...how old is she - I mean, is she close to your age? I don't have a sibling, I've always wanted a brother or somethin..."

Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)
"I know there's a term for dog-demon but I can't remember it at all now. Just from the way that you spoke about your father's sword made me wonder. That's all."
So Knives was something different, not an inukami. At least that facet of her curiousity had been settled, but now she had another thought: what was he? He had mentioned it was something different but it seemed he didn't know much abut it.
I know next to nothing about myself...
She glanced over at Knives as he sprawled out on the grass. There were very few times she could do that, and it was either a long, sleepless night of training or around a certain person...
"Ria...she's my 'adopted' sister so to speak." Her fingers laced together on her lap. "She's fourteen, and she was my savior while I stayed in Japan. She was even the one who got me to wear these kind of dresses. Makes me feel comfortable."
Another silent moment as she gazed up at the moon. It was late, and in truth her eyes felt heavy as hell but the thought of those nightmares crawing into her sleep kept her awake.
"Do you believe in dreams, Knives? Believe that they can parallel the truth?"
Re: New student on a midnight walk about campus. (open!)
Knives smiled to himself as he gazed up at the sky. It was a great night, and he was already very glad he'd come here. he didn't mind opening up about himself or his father's race. He was just happy to already have a friend so quickly upon his arrival. But now, he suddenly noticed that Amber hadn't said anything in a few moments. He turned his head to the side to look up at her, and found a look of thought on her face. He was just about to question her about it, when she did, after all, answer his question.
"Ahh, I see. But even though she's adopted, she sounds like a real sister to me." He smiled, and turned his eyes back towards the sky once more. "A caring sibling. That seems cool."
The conversation seemed to find a lapse; Knives glanced over at the girl. He had a million things to say, all sorts of questions to ask this pretty angel. But when he saw the troubled look on her face, he suddenly decided not to. Rather, he just gazed up at her, his ears drooping again.
"Do you believe in dreams, Knives? Believe that they can parallel the truth?" He blinked. "Well...yea, sometimes. There're so many different ways a dream can be a vision or a prophecy or somethin'. I mean, it could be a message from God...I've heard of people who use magic to speak to people in dreams...I've even heard that some especially talented people can actually get their spirits to leave their bodies and enter dreams..." He looked over at her again, his eyebrows raised. "But where'd that question come from? Did ya have a dream like that tonight...?"
