Night Air (Kane please)
Stella slid onto the ornate iron bench, tucking her legs up under her silver skirt and pulling her blue coat closer to her. The white hair hanging down her back was reflecting her own slight glow, and seemed to shine almost as brightly as the few stars scattered across the dark heavens.

She slowly closed her eyes, the lids closing over the cobalt blue irises. She released a sigh and she hugged her knees to her chest, resting her chin on them. She needed to think. Would Lucas be worried if he came back to the rooms to find no one there? Stella hoped not. She did not want to cause any worry, or sadness, or anything at all unpleasant on her new room mate. To do so would be…. Well it would just be very very bad.

Now her mind was on Lucas it was determined to stay there. A rueful smile tugged her mouth as she thought about him. Why was it so complicated? She cared for him, as she did for all her friends and yet it was not the same at all. Stella knew she was considered quiet, but around Lucas her tongue seemed to tie itself in knots and she was suddenly aware of how possible it was for her to say something stupid or something that showed how ignorant she was.

And he was so nice! Always saying pleasant things that got her all flustered. But then he was simply a very nice boy, and was probably like that to all his female friends, and only she acted so stupidly. And they saw so much of each other her strange behaviour must have been noticed. What if he thought she was odd? Or worse, what if he thought she did not like him? Her talk with Hawthorn had touched on the subject, but she needed to find someone to have a long chat to, most preferably a girl.

The air was chilly but refreshing, and Stella stretched out on the bench and stared at the stars.

Re: Night Air (Kane please)
Kane entered the garden alone. His mind was on a few things: Hawthorne, everything he suddenly knew about her, and of course the reminder of his own past as well. Not to mention the fit of rage he went into at the mall. He looked down to his fists, happy that the blood was finally washed from them. He'd been walking around with it there because it was the last thing on his mind really.

The young Frenchman was dressed in his usual clothes. A black singlet, a pair of dirty loose jeans and his blue jacket. Looking down, Kane pulled on the singlet lightly. " I really need some new clothes." He commented, as a smile came to his face. But it was quickly washed away. How would he get any? He couldn't go to the mall anymore. If he did the cop he assaulted would recognise him in an instant.

It was then that he spotted a girl sitting alone at a bench. The first thing Kane noticed was her white hair. It was a little strange, but then again what wasn't here at Manga High? Shrugging, Kane slowly walking over to her. He brushed a few blonde strands of hair away from his eyes, yet still allowed it all to sit in the usual unruly state. " Are you alright?" Kane asked, his French accent dull in his words.

"Are you alright?"

Stella's eyes flew open, paleing as they reflected her shock. They slowly darkened as she saw the boy standing before her.

"Oh yes, thank you. I'm just thinking.... and star gazing."

She sat up, raking a hand through her hair. Her eyes took in the boy, and she searched her memory for his face. But there was nothing. She had not met him before then.

"I don't belive we've met before. I'm Stella."

She held out a faintly glowing hand for him to shake, a smile touching her mouth. She did like meeting new people, even if they did take her by suprise. There was somthing a little different about his voice, an accent or inflection that was not common.

"I don't believe we've met before. I'm Stella."

Kane nodded at the stranger. " Well I'm Kane." He replied, smiling. He sat down beside her, leaving some room between them. He looked down to the grass, still unable to shake those images from his mind. Yet in the presence of a stranger, Kane didn't let his frustration show on his face. He kept his usual look about him, like nothing was wrong at all.

Kane tilted his head up and looked to the stars. For a moment he wondered why he was trying to hide his accent. He never even bothered when around Hawthorne anymore, she already knew how thick it was. Perhaps Kane thought that his accent just gave him another way to stand out and be different. When coming to a new environment that wasn't what he really wanted. " Stargazing huh? Do that often?" He asked.

"Well I'm Kane."

“It’s nice to meet you Kane.” Stella answered, and seeing that he was going to sit, she swung her legs around and over the side of the bench give him more room. She would not mind company, though when she asked for a confidant a stranger was not what she had had in mind

"Stargazing huh? Do that often?"

Stella smiled happily and nodded, looking back to the sky. The open view above her was already calming her rush of thoughts. She lent back against the back of the bench with a sigh and tilted her head back to look up. So many little lights.

“Whenever I need to think about something, or calm myself down, or have some time to myself I come out here.” She laughed. “So I’m usually out most nights. Do you go for late night walks often? If you don’t mind me asking.”

The wind was picking up slightly, and Stella began to wish she had brought a scarf. But the wind did mean there was not a cloud in sight to obscure the sight of the heavens.

Kane kept his eyes on the sky as he thought about it. Lately he'd been going out to walk at night. There was a lot for him to think about, even if he hadn't been here all that long. In a week he already knew more about someone than anyone else he ever knew, and he'd only known her for as long as he'd been at Manga High for. " I guess I've been taking late night walks. But I never used to until I got here." He replied.

"I guess I've been taking late night walks. But I never used to until I got here."

Stella laughed softly again at this news.

"This school can have that effect on you. It's so busy, and so much happens so quickly you need to have some time to clear your thoughts and think."

She closed her eyes for a moment, letting the wind brush against her face. Her skin was glowing steadily now, and it felt as if a weight was being slowly lifted from her. Star light was the best restorant there was for her.

"A penny for your thoughts?"

Stella asked, opening her eyes again. If he did not wish to talk she would not take offence, but she knew somtimes people wished to get things off their chests.

"A penny for your thoughts?"

Kane laughed lightly. Stella was the second girl to say that to him at this school. He thought back to that day when he met all those people for a moment, but then thought back to what he had been thinking about all day. He sighed before talking. " Just... problems. With this girl named Hawthorne." He said. If she was curious she could ask about it, he didn't mind. But telling the actual reason of his troubles might sound a little strange.

Stella sat up straight and turned to look at Kane, her eyes wide.

"Hawthorn is a friend of mine. Is she alright? Are you alright What happend?"

Stella blushed as she realised how out of control she had just sounded. There had been no need to verbaly bombard the boy.

"I apologise for asking so many questions. You don't need to answer. I am sorry." She said again.

Kane laughed once again. There was nothing wrong with either of them, at least not physically. " She's fine. I'm okay too. We went out a couple of days ago and I-" He began, but stopped himself. Was it really right to be telling what happened to a complete stranger? Still, she might take it the wrong way if he didn't tell her now. " Something was said and a few people tried to attack us. I hurt a lot of people, but I was only trying to protect her. Maybe I went a little far." He explained. Kane didn't actually give out the real reason why Hawthorne and he were having problems. That would have been a bit too weird.

Re: Night Air (Kane please)
When Kane laughed Stella breathed a sigh of relief. If Hawthorne had been hurt surely there would be nothing to laugh about. Though there was almost a bitter edge to the laughter, and Stella’s worry for her friend did not disappear.

"She's fine. I'm okay too. We went out a couple of days ago and I-"

When he what? Had this boy said something to her friend to upset her, or had he tried to do something Hawthorne had not wanted? Was that why he had stopped there? But he continued to speak, and Stella listened.

"Something was said and a few people tried to attack us. I hurt a lot of people, but I was only trying to protect her. Maybe I went a little far."

Stella let out a deep sigh. Why did difference always harbour resentment? True she did not know why Hawthorne and the boy before her had been attacked, but it seemed so similar to her own encounter at the mall.

“I remember my uncle telling me no real man would attack or hit a woman. And yet here is just another case that proves him wrong.” She glanced up and smiled warmly at Kane. “I am thankful you were there to protect her. And while it is a pity anyone was hurt, I am glad it was not Hawthorne.” She glanced away again, looking just past Kane’s shoulder. “And yet it seems there must be more to it then that, for surly such a chivalrous act would not leave you thinking so deeply. You said you went too far?”

Stella bit her lip lightly until pain warmed it. “I abhor violence, but it seems in me, and I speak as one with only slight experience in the matter, that people who would attack a girl are the kind of people who would do it a number of times, and should be taught the error of their ways before another woman is attacked. After all, not all can be as lucky as she was, having a young man willing to protect her.”

“And yet it seems there must be more to it then that, for surly such a chivalrous act would not leave you thinking so deeply. You said you went too far?”

Kane nodded lightly. Maybe Art was right about it after all. But he played the scene back in his head and there was no other option other than to take them out. If they would have even touched her he would broken the promise to himself. And after finding out about his mother, Kane wouldn't let another woman be hit by a man. Not on his watch.

" I guess you could say I snapped. I just got mad, gave them more of a beating than they probably deserved." He replied quietly. Images of the leader of that gang flashed through his mind. He was the one Kane left motionless, but he just didn't listen. He got taken down and still he found it right to go after her again.

" At least you understand it. I wouldn't have attacked anyone if they hadn't been going for me and her. But more importantly her y'know, I mean I dunno if she can fight." He explained. There were rumors floating around about what happened. Kane couldn't understand why the people around here just didn't ask him about what really happened. Art had just ignored everything Kane told him, refusing to believe the truth. But that was his business if he was going to be a moron. " I've been keeping a close eye on her, checking out how she is and all that. We live next to each other so its not that hard to really." He added.
