Oh my GOD!
Went to Pendragon to test the celestius rapier, and discovered something different that almost blew off my socks. Self-explanatory:

[17:39:29] You apply the lifebane to the shimmering duskwood exceptional crossbow.
[17:39:29] You wield the shimmering duskwood exceptional crossbow in both hands.
[17:39:29] Your Thrust skill has decreased.
[17:39:29] Your Crush resistance has decreased.
[17:39:29] Your Slash resistance has decreased.
[17:39:32] You target [the decaying tomb raider]
[17:39:32] You examine the decaying tomb raider. He is aggressive towards you!
[17:39:33] You attempt to use the shimmering duskwood exceptional crossbow.
[17:39:33] You prepare your shot (3s to fire, target is in range)
[17:39:33] You attempt to use the shimmering duskwood exceptional crossbow.
[17:39:33] You will now automatically release your shot.
[17:39:38] You shoot the decaying tomb raider with your crossbow and hit for 91 (+12) damage!
[17:39:38] You hit the decaying tomb raider for 80 damage!
[17:39:42] The decaying tomb raider is poisoned!

[17:40:09] You apply the greater crippling poison to the shimmering duskwood exceptional crossbow, replacing the previous effect.
[17:40:09] You wield the shimmering duskwood exceptional crossbow in both hands.
[17:40:09] Your Thrust skill has decreased.
[17:40:09] Your Crush resistance has decreased.
[17:40:09] Your Slash resistance has decreased.
[17:40:12] You target [the decaying tomb raider]
[17:40:12] You examine the decaying tomb raider. He is aggressive towards you!
[17:40:13] You attempt to use the shimmering duskwood exceptional crossbow.
[17:40:13] You prepare your shot (3s to fire, target is in range)
[17:40:13] You attempt to use the shimmering duskwood exceptional crossbow.
[17:40:13] You will now automatically release your shot.
[17:40:17] You shoot the decaying tomb raider with your crossbow and hit for 120 (+16) damage!
[17:40:17] The decaying tomb raider is surrounded by constricting bonds!

Re: Oh my GOD!
ranger? don't you have to equip the item to poison it? Last time I checked my shade couldn't use a short bow, much less a recurve.

Can scouts use xbows?

The only nonstealth bow-users that would profit from this is the armsman, unless it works with throwing knives too.

And there is still a good possibility it's just a bug... Otherwise, can you say 'viper'? ;)

Just imagine if they do leave this and keep the Armsan RA in New Frontiers. You'd have armsen running into a zerg with his poisoned xbow drawn and ready to launch at the first unlucky fellow in his path.

You know, that would be cool... but, so wrong :)

Off topic, but.. Drawnig on the Run with a xbow is damn near impossible. This feat would actually fit in with a regular bow user. That's mythic logic for ya, though.

So, what this means is that a infiltrator/scout combo is a whole better than a nightshade/ranger or shadowblade/hunter combo...?

Well, the whole stealth group has been in the favor of alb for a long time. Don't worry though, this will mean nothing compared to that balance if Minstrels get Ameliorating Melodies.

Heals for the alb steath group was about the only ability that they were missing, so I'm glad to see them get that.

You've always been able to poison a xbow..

However, the effect would NEVER land.

Have to say, I like this, and hope it goes live.

Hm.

You know, I wouldn't be opposed to this staying in.

It adds a little more utility to infiltrators but, if you think about it realistically, doesn't do a whole lot for them.

The Scout/Inf combo, for example, was just as powerful if the inf just used melee with snare poison and took off.

It makes infs into the best caster killer by far though (PA, get rooted, when he's running to get range shoot him with a DoT arrow to finish him).

/shrug

This is something that would've been a good master level ability actually :b

Just what we needed
To give infiltrators and ability to make then more uber then they already are with TOA gear. If we could just get them the ability to don plate armor they would be working as intended /sarcasm off.

But they can have it if my hunter pet can chain snare nuke with lifebane strength rabies.

This wont go live though or you will see my thrown daggers with lifebane on them and all archers with poisoned arrows.

How would you poison a bow?

You can't equip one. Neither can Infiltrators.

Your pet being able to snare the way you described would also be much more powerful than this is for Infiltrators.

Infiltrators already have poison and their range is very weak. Applying poison at range isn't really a huge deal. Only time this will matter is if they're trying to hit someone they can't reach (and this only really happens in group situations- really, who can't an infiltrator reach? They climb walls :p ) and when they're rooted (again, group situation. Most casters won't survive long enough to quickcast a root if they get jumped solo by an inf.)

Pretty big dyamic here.

At keep takes if the stealther hits the healer with a disease then all the caster's heals are halved... that'd be pretty serious for when Trebs are doing their work.

I mean, I'd like to have poisoned throwing daggers, but it's already bad enough with Lifebane swinging Mincers.

When you disease someone, all heals cast ON THEM are halved, not BY THEM.

I would love to see this stay in. Some kinda ballancing would be neccessary tho. For instance

- SB's can throw poisoned knives on the run(to compensate for shorter range)

- NS's get a casted versions of their poisons in their envenom line(maybe longer cast time or shorter range than xbow, to compensate for the immediate versatile availability vs having to poison the xbow with a certain poison first)

- Infs stay as they are

There's a bug that if the caster of a group heal is diseased, then the other receipients of the heal are also reduced. I don't play my druid enough to know if that affects the insta-group heal which heals a % instead of a value, but it does affect the castable group heal.

If there is indeed a bug, it should be fixed. You shouldn't balance around bugs.

Really hope they fixed it, can't tell the number of times that spread heals have saved a caster from me dropping them cause of ass-backwards disease effect.
