Outlook question
Is there a way to permanently delete certain emails without having to go through the deleted items folder?

For instance I have a folderfull of spam that I'd like to purge completely, as well as other spam the filter doesn't get that I'd like to just delete once without having to clean out my deleted items folder every couple weeks.

Thanks :)

Re: Outlook question
I don't use Outlook, but doesn't it have an option to delete your trash on exit?

Re: Outlook question
On Outlook Express, under Tools-> Options, hit the Maintenance tab.

Just like the previous poster said, there is an option to empty the deleted folder on exit.

I don't know for sure if there is a "hard delete" option or not (aka holding shift when you hit delete to bypass the deleted folder or something along those lines). Maybe someone else can volunteer that info.

Re: Outlook question
Yes, if you hold shift, it does a hard delete instead of into deleted items... if you have a Junk Mail folder, you can shift+delete the folder itself, then recreate it (or if it's like my mail filter, it will just recreate it when I open Outlook again).

Great, thanks guys, and thanks Psi.

Some of the things I delete I want to keep just in case I was an idiot for deleting them. Others I know I want gone, and that saves me a step. :)

Re: Outlook question
Shift Delete

never hits the deleted folder...

use as you would delete.. You will be prompted for a confirmation then there is no recovery.
