Painting: The art of putting the soul on paper
(I posted in the Auditorium because it was the closest thing I could find to an arts department.)

Dmitri was hidden away in a little-known part of the school: the art studio. He had managed to find it by looking at a school map and asking a few questions from a guidance counselor. In an attempt to try and free his soul of the sorrow of his recently deceased parents, Dmitri painted.

He had an eisel set up and a set of paints handy near by. He was wearing an apron that was a little too long; it dragged on the floor near his feet. A thin brush was in his hand, and a whole set of various brushes sat in a pail nearby.

Dmitri already had the picture formed in his mind; a modernistic portrait of a semi nude woman hazily drawn onto a blue sheet of paper; she was covering her face with her hands as she cryed tears of blood. www.annekaringlass.com/04...Heart1.jpg

With the picture in mind, Dmitri began to paint the picture, working dilligently unless someone should interupt him.

((We don't acctually have an "art room", but you are allowed to own almost anything. Just keep that in mind.))

Silent as the creeping shadows that followed him, Vash made his way to the 'art studio'. It looked more like a back room supply room, though he wasn't about to worry about that anytime soon. His adventure had started when he was searching the school high and low for any signs of secret entryways. He wanted to expand his knowledge of the campus in case he needed to board something up in the event of a demon attack. He was still curious as to how they managed to enter the school. During his search, though, he had noted some small scuffles with paint cans in this very supply room.

As he entered, he noticed a boy beginning to draw a painting. He assumed the student was new as he never saw the boy roaming the campus before. Now his curiosity had shifted, wanting to see what exactly this boy was up to. So, with his expertise in silence, the dunpeal moved himself behind the painter and began to observe him. His position was obvious to any who entered, though most likely not as obvious to the one painting. He tended to be very still and very quiet when he stood so he hoped he would not make any comotion to disrupt the 'genious at work'.

"Then again, wouldn't you thinking already be thought out, so that your thinking is involved in what you'll do? So that means if you didn't think then you wouldn't get to the same conclusion as you would if you thought about it, right? Oh well, best not to think about thinking about thinking, you think so? Well, I still say not thinking is the best way to think!" -Alex Summers, thinking about thinking

Dmitri infact, did know that someone was watching him. He could taste, hear, smell, even feel the man's presence in the room. He didn't let it bother him, however; he was completely and totally absorbed in his painting. He was in his zone; the outside world was of little interest or importance to him.

The picture in his mind begins to form on the paper as Dmitri paints. Due to it's abstract nature, it's hard to tell what he's drawing at first; seemingly random lines that don't quite take an obvious form yet. He also adds a few sploches of dark, red paint; the color of blood. The most peculiar thing about his painting process is that he does not stop or pause; he is like a whirlwind of artist ability, his paint brush never relenting, his hand never takes a breath.

Vash simply starred in amazment at the child's skill. What masterful strokes he performed with his brush. It was like a masterful swordsman squaring off against an inferior opponent. There was a certain grace to the movements and methodical flow in the random strokes he made. His technique was flawless as his weapon streaked across the canvas in a dancing motion. Thinking of it in this light certainly made the painting all the more interesting to the hunter. Now he was fully enjoying the simple creation of a masterpiece of artwork.

"Simply astounding..." he whispered to himself, though now he knew the boy would realise his presence if he had not already.

Dmitri hears Vash's comments, but chooses to ignore them, staying focused on his artwork. He continues at his remarkably fast pace, and after only a few more minutes, he's finished. He puts the paint brush in a nearby can and, after a long awkward silence, says. "I'm glad you think so." He turns around and looks Vash up and down. "I think I've seen you around but I doubt you've seen me... I'm a new student. Dmitri's my name." He extends his hand as if ready to shake his hand.

"Vash Hellsinger" he replied, shaking the boy's hand with a rather unusually firm grip. Having super human strength did that, sometimes.

The dunpeal then wandered past Dmitri to look at his painting a little closer. It was astoudning he could paint something so quickly, so easily, and by memoery no less! At least, he was sure it was by memory. If the boy had created such a masterpiece in the time he had been watching that truely would have been super human. He then smirked as he saw what the lines formed, a somewhat hidden picture that could only been seen on a second glance rather than a quick look. Quite clever.

"Remarkable skill...I suppose this is from memory, no?"
