Pal VS SK VS RANGER
Well summer is around, and my friends and i wanted to do a race. Im wondering if this would be fair because we are gonna invest eh i dunno 15k each in the characters. Then we are all gonna get to 51 or so. Then we are gonna duel for the gear. Is this fair or does one class have an advantage over the other?
At lvl 51 SKs and Paladins are fairly balanced. The SK's best lifetap is for about 60 PvP and they have a 240ish damage spear.
Paladins get Etheral cleansing by then which is great for fighting a SK. As long as he has high enough MR to resist snares and doesn't waste his mana on stuff like stuns (assuming the SK also has good resists) he should do fine.
The ranger on the other hand is Fubar. 15k isn't going to be enough to get you a good enough bow to compete with these two especially with the archery PvP nerf and the fact that you won't have AM3 or EQ3. If they are not smart and don't have good MR gear you might be able to snare and bow kite them around but I doubt it.
So to answer your question it is fair for everyone except the ranger imo. A Necro is a good matchup versus these two and a bard would also be a fair matchup if it is in a smaller arena (like the bazaar arena. Lake Rather is too big for the bard).

What else could we add? I mean its fine if we can only play sk's pally's, but whats another class that is in par with them?
a Bard may work....necro eh i think we want to stay in melee...WEll thx tho
Re: Pal VS SK VS RANGER
For bard it has to be in a small arena where they can't run out of range. At 51 a bard can defend himself in the arena but not own the other two with only 15k in gear (SSBP would trivialize this event).

Drop the ranger. Don't add bard, it would smoke all classes easily. Instead I'd add a BST to the mix. Or maybe a monk with a fungi+15k.

Re: Pal VS SK VS RANGER
A well played SK will whoop the snot out of the ranger for sure and would be a good fight against the paladin. If I had 15K to drop into a starting SK, by the time I got to 51 it would damn hard to be beat.
I've fought duels against alot of paladins and I have beat em each and every time. Only fought one ranger and I beat him to.
As for the other class to add,
I've fought one bard and I got beat bad. He kited my SK ass around bad. I almost beat him but in the end I still lost. A bard can take off, heal up, fly back at you, dot you, run off and heal again. If you add a bard, the SK and paladin should gang up on him.
A beast lord would be a good idea, never dueled one of them before. Same with a monk, shammy and cleric. Course if your going pure melee then I'd say a warrior, monk or rogue. Course, the SK and pally would kill those three.
Re: Pal VS SK VS RANGER
With BL it depends on the resists.
If your resists are above 100 even the proc will have a very hard time sticking, but if they aren't be prepared to take a lot of damage if it stays on you.
Still the BL is a pet class, and as such has to deal with pet woes such as bad pathing, etc. BL pets are pretty resistant to magic, so that works out in their favor for PvP. The BL himself should be pretty hard to kill by anything at that level if his resists are decent.
Terrain = big issue for a BL.

Shaman is pretty well balanced at lvl51. He's got plague and ebolt each doing 1.2k damage (800 pvp). He's got sowboots and a pet as well as pretty good resists. If he can land malosi on anyone that person is fubared. Add blind/root/slow.

Re: :P
add druid. sks really dont have that much hp
15k isnt that much either...and melees (hybrids especially) NEED gear.
as a druid. keep SoC armed (spirit of cheetah).
i kill shadow knights endlessly on my druid. granted its always close. but i always live.
hopefully youll resist his darkness line of spells (you should) dot him with two dots, dd, soc, heal, track him down again, dd, run away, dd, run away, dot.
if you get into trouble do a druid shadow step...since you know you are fighting him at lvl 51...bind somewhere ....'odd' in the zone you are fighting him. then meet him somewhere and fight. if you get stuck gate to your in zone bind spot.
