Parallel Days (Open)
Midday and after a nap, a winged girl in Gothic Lolita attire slipped out of her room and across campus. Avoiding every eye, her sword strapped to her back. It would be uncomfortable for her wings, but it would be a brief pain. Crossing the grass, maybe taking a glide one in a while until she would reach solitude.

Finding herself in a clearing, the girl spent hours in meditation, hours honing her energies as she always had. Little by little, she was getting better but always below what she would aim for. Too many thoughts crowded her mind: the dreams including the one that came to life, the constant-growing melancholy and major breaks in her memory. Behind every gust of chi, with every swing of the hevenly-crafted tai Chi sword, there would be a worry craving release.

I hate feeling, I hate all these crowding thoughts...Sometimes it feels like dying will be better, after all...my life, my happines is worthless.

With a frown, she stabbed the sword into the ground. She carefully kneeled down on the ground, her legs drawn up to her chest and her arms wrapped around her knees. She stared ahead, but at the same time not focused on anything around her. Defiant little angel, just like her father; those words would probably whisper in Heaven.

"Don't ever think that again. I won't let them win."

Re: Parallel Days (Open)
Knives was already out in the forest, in the same clearing. It was mid-day, which meant he had only just woken up. Today, he was training; not like Amber, as he didn't feel the need to meditate and focus his mind. Rather, he was training his body, and attempting to teach himself swordsmanship. It would be strange, for one who knew him, to see him working at something so early in the day - his training sessions usually took place in the evening, when he was wide awake, rather than when he was still feeling the effects of sleep. But Knives was attacked during his last training session; he didn't want it to happen again when it was dark outside. So he'd moved his training to the mornings (well, morning for him).

He had been moving about much, jumping and leaping around in his small space he'd staked out today. But now, he was standing still, his eyes shut, as he held his samauri sword out in front of him. He was concentrating hard on his training, focusing on how he could make himself better. In his mind, he was imagining a battle, a fight against an opposing swordsman. But suddenly, something broke his concentration. A sound reached his German Sheppard ears, which twitched atop his head. His eyelids slid open, and his deep blue eyes turned in the direction of the sound. But there was a tree in the way of his view; although, by now, he knew what the sound was. When he'd begun focusing on whoever was there, he'd caught the scent of the person - and he already knew what Amber smelled like, from the night at the lake.

As he walked around the tree, he sheathed his sword at his belt. His eyes fell upon Amber, kneeling there, her sword dug into the ground at her side. She looked cute there, in that position, though Knives also felt a little sorry for her - he could see by the pouty look on her face that she was frustrated at something. So, to cheer her up, he gave her a big smile, reavealing his large fangs.

"Hey there....I see we had the same idea, huh?" He laughed a little. "I guess it's not going well for you today...." He walked over beside her, and plopped down next to her. It wasn't a careful seating; he simply let his body fall back, until he landed in a seated position next to her. "Aww, poor cute little angel," He smiled. "You want some help with your training?"

Re: Parallel Days (Open)
Rafael was out running today, still trying to unleash his animal side. Anyone who saw him without knowing him would stare at him in a weird way. He was in he dog form, but he had shorts tied on as if he was in his human form. He was getting annoyed with having to ask for clothes everytime he reverted.

As he came into a clearing he began running faster and faster. 'This is great!' he thought, trying to say it though it came out at "Ris is rate!" His ears perked up as his eyes fell upon a rabbit. Something inside him wanted to chase it, so going even faster, he did so.

His now blue eyes stayed so focused on the rabbit he didnt see the tree until it was too late. With a crash he ran forehead first into the tree. Rolling back and accidently reverting to his human form he shouted out in pain.

"Where the hell did that tree come from?!" He was rubbing where his forehead came in contact with the tree. If anyone saw him now, he was regular rafael, no dog characteristics on him now. As he looked around to see where he was he saw Knives and Amber seated next to each other. "WHATS UP!" He shouted with a wave and made his way over to them.

Re: Parallel Days (Open)
Amber was both startled and expectant. Even with supposed solitude, people still seem to stumble upon her. However, this was still expected in a school full of students who probably wished to find solitude to train...or even ponder over their own thoughts. The "cute" little pout on her face would melt into a blank expression and then into a small (fake) smile.

When was the last time I really smiled...

When Knives had plopped next to her, Amber spoke:

"I've...been getting better, more controlled than probably a month ago. I just feel a little off today, that's all."

KONK!

"Where the hell did that tree come from?!"

Amber snapped her head over the tree, seeing the now-human Rafael rubbing his forehead. She blinked; she had not felt either of them at all. Had her senses degraded or was it true that she was simply out of focus? Rafael bounced back from his minor injury and started towards them. The winged girl lifted her hand up in Rafael's direction, a silent greeting.

"You should be more cautious."

Re: Parallel Days (Open)
Knives smiled back to Amber. He had noticed that the smile on her face wasn't like the one he'd seen the night at the lake. It seemed....forced, and it wasn't nearly as big as the one she had back then. But it was still cute, even if it wasn't a real smile. The dog boy looked at her and scratched the back of his head; he wondered slightly why she couldn't smile, and why she seemed so frustrated today. But it was better now than the last time that he had met her...when she was scared and worried. He no longer had to worry about her, which made him feel much better.

"I've...been getting better, more controlled than probably a month ago. I just feel a little off today, that's all."

"Better, huh?" He gave her a big smile, showing her his fangs once again. "Better is good! I bet you're actually really good and just don't know it." His mind wandered back to the night at the lake. She had been a great fighter then; he saw images of her fighting, swinging her sword precisely, and somehow defeating enemies at a distance with an attack that Knives couldn't even see! He felt a twinge of inadequacy (this girl could probably defeat him!), but that didn't last long. After all, she was an angel, and he was a lowly earth creature; it was surprising that she wasn't insanely stronger than him. He looked over at her, and smiled. As a bonus, she was cute, too!

"I dunno how I could help you train....but if I can figure it out, I'd be glad to help!"

He'd been focused on Amber for the past few minutes, and hadn't noticed anything going on around him. But suddenly, Knives's ear twitched, as he heard the sickening crack of a skull against a solid tree. Knives sighed; now that he'd snapped back to reality, he'd noticed the new scent of Rafael. And that wasn't the brightest kid he'd met at MHS; sure, he was a good guy, but he had a tendency to be a bit of a dumbass. He turned his head, to look at the other student; when he saw him rubbing his forehead, he shook his head. But, at the same moment, he couldn't supress his laugh; after all, it was rather funny when someone else did something stupid (but then again, Knives can laugh at himself for doing stupid things too....he has that kind of humor).

"Uhhm, Raf....you really need to pay attention to...well...everything..."

"I know!" Rafael said in embarassement. Truly, he knew he needed to be cautious, him not being cautious got him into trouble too many times here. 'Lets see, there was the shower incident, The V incident, an almost incident in the cafeteria... god, the list goes on and on'

Trying not to think about it anymore, rafael took a seat on the other side of Amber. "So what are you two up to out here?" He rubbed his fore head again. 'That really hurt!'

As rafael looked at Knives he remembered him being with some girl near the mountain. Rafael then whispered this so low that only knive's ears would pick it up. "so did you have fun with that girl?" Rafael smiled, Knives was becoming a player at this school. The girls he knew of so far it seemed, were amber, dango, and the psychopath.

Amber was in a sour mood, that's what she wanted to tell Rafael but it was completely out of the norm for her. The winged girl was usually so cheerful, sadness or anger did not suit her at all. Imagine what would happen if they were able to see what she had been thinking, the thoughts that had crossed her mind just before both boys had arrived.

"I was training out here...and so was Knives apparently. Were you just playing outside?" Half the truth at least and ending with a miniature attempt at a joke. She turned to Knives, a look of concern crossing her face (and compeltely missing the whispered exchange between the boys). She had remembered what he had said at the lake the night a dream came to life. Someone she cared about before had been kind enough to protect her...

I don't want him to disappear too...he's a nice guy.

Re: Parallel Days (Open)
As Rafael came to sit with them, Knives's eyes followed him. The kid wasn't too bright, but Knives didn't have a problem with him joining them. He gave the other student a small smile. Then, his ear twitched. Raf had whispered something, very very lowly. Knives had barely been able to pick it up, but he did catch it. In response, he gave Rafael an ambiguous shrug, and a mischevious smile. And with that, he turned his eyes away from Rafael, focusing on Amber instead, as if to end the conversation right there.

He looked at Amber, and he could tell she was bothered. The look on her face showed him that she was in a bad mood, and he could see that her whole body was tensed, and her legs and arms tucked against her chest - she seemed closed off. He frowned a bit as he watched, and his ears drooped. The hand nearest to her reached out, and came to rest gently on her back, between her shoulder and her wing...he would've put it in the middle of her back, as he felt it would be more comforting; but he was afraid to touch the wings without permission (even though he really wanted to, he wasn't going to do it while she was in a bad mood). He rubbed back and forth, his fingers playing across her skin (or her clothes, depending on whether her shoulders are exposed >.>), in a comforting way. He wanted to make her feel better.

"Amber....are you alright?" He noticed the concerned look on her face, and he felt bad. His heart sank, and, as an outwardly sign of it, so did his ears. This look wasn't good for the angel, she needed to be happy and smiling; but he didn't know if he could make that happen. At first, he'd thought she heard what Rafael had said; but that was impossible. Then he realized where he'd seen this before - she'd given him the same look when he'd promised to protect her. "Amber....are you worried about something?"

"Not sure if you want to train with me. If I end up hurting you, it'll be on my karma." Well, in response to this, Knives tried to laugh...but it came out hollow and empty; he was still concerned about Amber, he didn't like seeing her this way. But he tried to make it better; he would try to be himself - his normal, happy, goofy self - and maybe she'd laugh. "Well, then! I guess I'll have to make sure you don't end up hurting me!" He gave her a small smile. But he knew that it wouldn't work; something was really bothering her.

"Were you just playing outside?"

"Thats exactly what I was doing!" Rafael gave an over excited smile. He watched the two talk about training an being worried. Rafael decided to stay out of it, it seemed like something personal. So he simply got up and brushed himself off.

"Well, im going to go back to playing, See ya'll around!"

With that, Rafael shifted into his dog form amd barked at them. Then with speed he took off, looking for another animal to chase.

Re: Parallel Days (Open)
Rafael took off in a burst of speed in search of a quarry to chase around. What he would find was a quarry indeed -- the golden scaled beast was slightly larger than he was in that form -- talons dig into the earth as the weight of the beast moved through over the forest floor, wings kept themselves folded down and close the body, the slitted eyes burned with gold, watching the dog do its thing.

Behind Amber -- There was a sharp gust of wind, rippling through the Nephelet's hair, wrapping around and caressing against the smooth complextion of her skin. Could she feel him standing there behind her, those artic cold eyes staring across her shoulder towards Knives. Could she feel the pain, writhing inside corridors of his mind.

They existed on similar wave lenghts, maybe that is why he sought her out on this day. Another step was taken and the look in his eyes intensified, watching Knives. His chest pressed into her back - against the soft feathery touch of wings. Hands touching at her arms - familar touch of a bandaged hand, the other flesh upon flesh. A warm cheek brushing against her own as he head dipped over her shoulder. ". . .you look like hell Amber" Cut straight to the point, never one to beat around bush -- unless it was matters of his own.

"Did you miss me that much?"

This was his best friend, she was the second most important person in the world to him and something had been troubling her, ever since he has seen her in the forest last time on that fateful night some time ago. So he figured alittle ice breaking question and she would open to him eventually.

Easy come, easy go; Rafael came and went without much in words. Instead there was a plesent wind, familiar enough that she was able to place it.

"Akai," Amber said softly, just as he had enveloped her in a hug. The small gust of wind, and the gentle, cool pulse from Djibril signaled his arrival. She didn't move, in fact she barely reacted and at the same time she had appreciated the kindness. Something was definetly on her mind, Akai of all people would feel it.

"I haven't seen you in a while. Reading my mind again?"

She paused and then answered him.

"I haven't been feeling well. The nightmares and all..." her voice faultered, glancing over at Knives in a sort of silent addressing. It was apparent that she did not want to say anymore around Knives, the last thing she wanted was to worry him.

"Oh Knives, this is Akai. He's a close friend of mine. Akai, Knives is a new student."

The embrace only lingered on for another moment or so, the grip of his arms tightening slightly as she was speaking to him. The cool spring breeze wrapped around them again - the experience of the fresh air, reminded him of days not so long passed past.

"When do our thoughts not cross paths?"

As she spoke of those torturous dreams, his own heart wrenched for her sake. He was there at her side, listening the whispered words that came from her sleeping form. That night will be forever engraved into his memory. "I know Amber, I know." Those words echoing her thoughts - they would speak later on.

"Fresh meat eh?" Akai leaned back just slightly, the warmth of his cheek leaving an emblazoned trail across the that soft skin of the half Angel's cheek, just slighting around the curve of her head, that artic cold gaze settled on Knives. "You like it so far?" An attempt, just one single solitary attempt at kindness. Nevermore.

Re: Parallel Days (Open)
The new arrival didn't surprise Knives at all. In fact, the scent of Akai had signalled his arrival from long off; if that wasn't enough, the sensitive dog ears atop Knives's head had easily picked up the sound of footsteps. So, when Akai showed up behind Amber, Knives simply turned his head casually to look at him, giving him his usual, friendly smile, revealing his large, sharp canine teeth. He wasn't the least bit surprised by his arrival; but he did feel a twinge of jealousy at the sight of the intimacy between him and Amber....though not enough to show it in any way, or even make a judgement on this guy.

For a moment, he just sat there, watching the interactions between the two of them. He didn't know what to say or do, so he remained silent in his seat. It was only a moment, but Knives felt a little out of place for that moment, as if he didn't belong with the two of them. But once the embrace between them was over, he was acknowledged again; and for a bit, he did feel better.

"Oh Knives, this is Akai. He's a close friend of mine. Akai, Knives is a new student." Knives reached behind his head with his hand, scratching it slightly. On his face was a small smile, almost like a sheepish grin; even his eyes closed for a short moment. When he opened them again, he looked up to see that cold stare that came from Akai's golden eyes. He gave Akai that same friendly smile as before, and nodded in agreement with Amber's comment about him being a "new student."

"Yup! Just moved in a couple weeks ago! Nice to meet ya, Akai!" He gave him another nod, and then lowered his hand from the back of his head. Instead, he stretched it out in front of him, in Akai's direction. It was obviously for a handshake; Knives was a rather outgoing and friendly person, and he was more than willing to meet this new person.

But before Akai acknowledged him, he seemed to have something to talk with Amber about. The two of them began speaking to each other; at first, when Amber spoke of the "nightmares," he thought he understood what it was they were talking about - he believed it had something to do with his first night at the school, with Amber, at the lake. But as he continued watching them, he realized that Amber was avoiding talking about it, and even glancing at him. It was obvious they didn't want to talk about it around him; suddenly, the feeling of awkwardness and being out-of-place washed over him. He let out a small sigh, and turned his eyes towards the ground, once again scratching his head a bit.

"You like it so far?" Knives blinked, realizing he was being acknowledged again. He lifted his head up, so that he could look at Akai once again, and gave him another smile. His head nodded slightly, and he responded. "Yeah! It's great so far, especially the people." He smiled in Amber's direction. "How long've you been here?"

Body weight shifted, a slight transference of pressure from one foot to another as the hand extended for a handshake. Akai's ice cold blue orbs stared at the offer hand as though the expression was alien, that single visible brow raised up in accordance.

"Some are like the wind--" Delicate fingers lifted and trailed through Amber's hair, tucking a few errant strands behind her ear. His form moved with precision and grace. A quick change of position was taken, still at Amber's side his form stretched out of the grass underneathe him. Blades of grass bend against their will, twist and contort from their natural shape to give way for body. "--one minute they are here, the next--" And of those close blades of grass was plucked from the earth, held up, then taken with the slight breeze that blows through the forest.

"--gone."

OOC: haha, sorry >.> you never said what color his eyes were, I tried to infer it from your first post....heh ^.^

IC:

As he saw Akai's hand extend towards his, Knives reached out and took the other guy's hand, wrapping his own fingers around it firmly, and shaking slightly. He gave Akai a big, friendly smile, before slipping his hand out of Akai's grasp, and drawing it back to himself to rest in his lap once again.

Amber began to speak, and Knives turned to look at her, his dog ears twitching a bit, as he focused on her voice. The smile on his face remained, as he listened to her speak, interested in what she had to say. He nodded a bit in response, and let out a small chuckle. "Thanksgiving, huh? You've been here a bit longer than I have..." He laughed again; she obviously knew that, since she met him on his first night here.... "Lot of people left? That's not good..."

He glanced at Akai. His blue eyes watched as the boy played with Amber's hair, following the movement of his hand; he felt like letting out a deep sigh, but supressed it, and returned his gaze to Amber, to continue speaking. Though, after seeing how close Akai seemed to be with Amber, his ears had drooped slightly; still, it wasn't very noticeable. "Well, at least you still have some friends here. And you've got a new friend now, too!" He gave her a big smile, as he lifted his hand to point his thumb at his own chest.

He heard Akai begin to speak, and turned his gaze on him. As he did so, he leaned back, stretching both hands to rest on the grassy ground behind him to support his weight, blades of grass peeking out between his fingers. As he listened to Akai, he tilted his head slightly, his ears twitching, curious.

"What's he talking about?" Knives wondered to himself. But he didn't say it out loud; he wasn't quite sure if Akai planned to explain himself or not.

Something Akai's words pulled the strings of her heart and her expression became dismal again. Yes, there were those that came and left like the wind. One of those precious feelings, emotions bestowed upon humans alone, had been swept up and away by those gust of winds.

"Yeah..." her voice as gloomy as a funeral on a cloudy day. "Just gone."

Very few knew aside from a certain golden-haired girl. Maybe even Akai had seen it what it was not so long ago in the midst of a fight and harsh words. The winged girl closed up slightly, drawing her legs to her chest. A slight breeze ruffled her copper-blond hair and the white feathers of her wings.

"Anyways..." Amber attempted to change the subject. "Akai, Knives and I might have a little spar. Care to cheer for me?" Her voice jumped to a muted cuteness, joking wasn't too uch of her forte.

There was a smirk that crossed those thin lips as Amber spoke. Eyes shimmering in the light as his head canted to the side to look at Knives, watching for a long moment in silence -- that smirk was one of full blown confidence and cockyness.

"Should I call Ms. Hanabishi for him now, or later?"

A slight laugh escaped from his throath, it was a foreign sound coming from -- laughing, it was not a strong point or an emotion/reaction he was use to doing. Fingers comb themselves through the black tendrils of hair, slender fingers become wrapped - tresses curl up at the invasion of the digits.

"Akai, Knives and I might have a little spar. Care to cheer for me?" One of the dog ears atop Knives's head twitched, and he glanced up at Amber. Suddenly, he realized she was actually going to accept his offer of a spar, and a big smile crossed his lips. He raised up his fist slightly, not in a threatening way, more in an excited way, as if he were about to shout "Yes!" He gave the girl a nod, his hair waving slightly at the movement.

Then he looked to Akai. His eyes squinted into a sort of mean look at the boy's response. He extended his arm in Akai's direction, pointing his index finger at him. Through all of this trying to look a little menacing, the dog boy couldn't help but laugh; Akai was probably right after all. He smirked a little bit, and gave a shrug, returning his hand to his lap.
"Yeah....I might lose, but....I'm sure I can put up a fight, at least," He gave a big smile. Since that night on the lake, Knives's first night at MHS, the dog boy wanted to spar with Amber. He had seen her skills, and knew that she was very strong; much stronger than he was, at this point. But even if he lost, it would be rather fun....

"I'll go easy on you."

Amber pulled the Tai Chi sword from the ground. The last thing she would want to do was to harm Knives, especially considering that she was the stronger one. She will however aspire to put up a decent fight. The winged girl moved a few steps over, just enough so that Akai would not recieve stray attacks and enough that he would get a good show.

Amber swung her sword across a few times, getting her range of movement down pact. Over the course of her own training she had learned to move quicker and flow with her own movements. Like water, like air...a cute little spin and she was ready.

"Ready?" She said, potining her sword at Knives.

Re: Parallel Days (Open)
The dog boy's blue eyes watched as she got up and got herself ready, his lips curled into a small, dreamy smile. She was pretty cute, and he enjoyed watching her do things like this. Suddenly, he realized that they were about to begin. He blinked a few times, his eyes still on Amber, and then shook his head to clear his mind. She would go easy on him....he didn't really want that, but he knew that it may not be a fair fight otherwise. As soon as these thoughts crossed his mind, Knives gave a shrug (more to himself than anything), and let out a small sigh.

"I guess we'll find out what we're both capable of....I bet she's stronger, but I won't know until we actually battle..." He thought to himself. The smile on his face contorted itself into a smirk, now.

Knives placed one hand on the ground, the other moving to his belt, where his fingers enclosed around the sheath of his sword. He moved his legs around, into a position where he could more easily get up. With both legs and the one hand, he pushed himself into a standing position; his eyes remained on Amber through the entire movement. Smirk still on his face, blue eyes glinting a little, he sidestepped away from Akai; though he was sure the other student could defend himself, he still didn't want any stray attacks to go Akai's way.

Once they were a safe distance, Knives stopped, and stood fairly still across from Amber. Now, as she warmed up (and especially when she did that cute twirl!) his smirk faded back into a smile, and his eyes softened their gaze. But with the single word, "Ready?" that was uttered from the angel's lips, Knives reverted back to his battle-ready self. He gave her a nod, and his smirk grew. "Of course!"

And it was true; he didn't need to warm up or ready himself in any way. It had only been moments ago that he had been training on the other end of the clearing; and if the fast-paced movement, swinging and slashing his sword, had not been enough of a warm up...well, it was likely that nothing else would do it. So, slowly, he drew his sword from his belt, his other hand (the one not clutching the sheath) wrapping around the hilt tightly, and pulling it from its resting place. Under the bright sunshine, the silver blade shone. Once it was free from its sheath, the dog boy gripped it with both hands, holding it out in front of him in a ready position.

And he waited, to see what Amber's first move would be....
