June 1st - June 19th
It's almost summer! The last few weeks of school have come, and students will need to study hard for their final exams! Don't let up yet, or your grades won't be what you want them to. Of course, the weather is almost perfect and pristine, in attempts to lure students away from their studies.
Parting is such sweet sorrow // ISO: Bryce [15.02.2009]
Another Valentine's day had come and gone, much to Carsa's displeasure. It was by far her favourite holiday, seeing as she always had a date for the occasion which earned her the jealousy of the vast majority of the female population. This year was particularly fun, now that she was engaged to one of those most beautiful people in the school. She would soon become Mrs. Carsa Ève King, which sounded a bit weird because of the mix of French and British names, but that was the last thing on her mind.
Bryce had asked to speak with her in the common room that afternoon at a time when most students were either in the library or in class. It was one of the rare moments they had to themselves in the cozy space near the fireplace, and they had shared many the passionate snogfest there.
Carsa had no idea what Bryce had in mind, but for some reason she believed it wouldn't be such great news. It couldn't be that grave either, unless he wanted to break off the engagement which was highly unlikely. She decided to remain calm, that it wouldn't be so bad. After pondering for a bit, she realized that Bryce hadn't been all that happy at Hogwarts as of late and felt that he was wasting his time in the constraintful castle.
Either way, there was only one sure way of finding out what it was all about: waiting for Bryce to show up and fill her in on what's going on.

Bryce was somewhat nervous about telling Carsa his decision. But he had to. Everything was already done, everything was arranged. He had spoken to all of his teachers, discussed what he had to do, and then contacted the Ministry of Magical Enforcement, where he desired to work, and got a desk job, shuffing papers, stamping trials, basically the most boring career you could ever consider going into. But it paid a fair amount, and with time and much brown nosing, he could get a decent job and move up the departmental ladder. That was what he was going to aim for. He wasn't going to waste his time at Hogwarts anymore. What was the point? The only reason he would ever want to stay was for Carsa. And now that they were engaged, he wanted to make something of himself. She had a large inheritance from her family apparently, but Bryce didn't want her to be the "sole provider." She was NOT going to wear the pants, suit AND tie in their relationship. It was unheard of.
Now his bags were packed, and he was leaving. That very day. He knew he should have told her much earlier, but he couldn't find the heart to do it almost. That and he didn't want her to have the opportunity to talk him out of it. The way it was, there was nothing he could do, even if he did change his mind. It was a done deal. He was expected at the Ministry of Magic the next day to start work. Starting on a Thursday was odd, but he was willing to deal with odd hours and strange scheduling. Anything was better than Hogwarts. With the stupid lemming students, the stupid petty classes...everything. He was just done with it. All of it. With hope he would be able to buy a flat in London and Carsa could come stay there over the summer rather than going home. And then they could be together, alone.
Bryce entered the Common Room from his dormitory, and caught sight of Carsa, already there. She looked beautiful, like always, and despite the situation, a small smile came across his face. "Hey," he said quietly, making his way over to Carsa. He planted a small kiss on her lips before stepping back and looking her in the eyes. It was basically the moment of truth, and Bryce couldn't help but fear her reaction. How upset could she get? Enough to break off the engagement? No! God no. Please no. Never. He wouldn't be able to survive if that happened.
"Okay..." Bryce started, still fearing what he was going to say. "I should have talked to you about this a long time ago, and I know that. But I made my mind up and I love you enough that if you asked me to stay," Bryce said, realizing that would probably give away what he was going to tell her. "I would." Bryce took Carsa's hands in his, wanting to hold her before she blew up or became completely enraged with his decision. "But the thing is, there's no point in me staying here anymore. So I got a job at the Ministry." Bryce would let that sink in a little before he continued, and wait to see her response.

It wasn't long before Bryce entered the common room, and as usual Carsa's breath was suspended at the sight of him. Still after at least four months he managed to take her breath away just by entering a room. His small "Hey" brought an even bigger smile to her face, and his kiss did her in. She melted from the inside, but kept her poise as he stepped back.
The tension was palpable, but it was up to Bryce to drop the shoe in this instance. Carsa waited patiently as he dealt with his nerves and summoned his words.
"Okay..." Bryce started, still fearing what he was going to say. "I should have talked to you about this a long time ago, and I know that. But I made my mind up and I love you enough that if you asked me to stay, I would."
Carsa's mind raced. What he had just said about leaving could mean one of two things: he was leaving Hogwarts, or he was leaving her. The first was tolerable, the other was absurd. Instead of breaking down prematurely, she let him finish his idea. There was no use reacting to something that was incomplete. He took her hand in his, and in her eyes she saw that he wasn't leaving her in the sense of ending their relationship. There was too much love there, and too much warmth in his touch. Her fears were instantly alleviated. What he was about to say would only complete the feeling of relief.
"But the thing is, there's no point in me staying here anymore. So I got a job at the Ministry."
Carsa squeezed his hand and moved closer to him, until she had him in a hug. She smiled one of those calm, understanding smiles. "I'm glad. I hated seeing you so miserable here. I'd rather see you go for a short while and know you to be happy than to see you unhappy everyday. I love you, Bryce..."
Carsa pulled away and stared into his beautiful eyes. She laughed softly before adding, "So you'd better write!"

Next thing Bryce knew, Carsa was hugging him. What was this? She wasn't angry that he was leaving? Relief flooded through Bryce. Well, he wasn't in the clear yet. She might have been hugging him just to make sure he could never move to be able to leave. That would have been tragic. "How did I die? Oh, I was squeezed to death by my fiancee when I told her I was going to leave Hogwarts to get a job." It wasn't the scenario that Bryce had necessarily selected for himself when he pictured his death in the far future. "I'm glad. I hated seeing you so miserable here. I'd rather see you go for a short while and know you to be happy than to see you unhappy everyday. I love you, Bryce..." Bryce was completely shocked. She wasn't mad at him for not telling her sooner! She wasn't going to try and hold him back! Bryce's head was spinning. How many guys could say they had a fiancee like that? Hell, how many guys his age could say they had a fiancee? He was pretty sure he was the only one in the school.
Carsa pulled back and gazed into his eyes. "So you'd better write!"
Bryce couldn't help but let out a relieved laugh. "Of course I will! It's going to kill me to not be able to see you every day, but I wanted to get a head start, and now's as good of a time as ever," he said, starting to explain himself. "And I wrote in to the Ministry, and they explained that if I start young and work hard, I can work my way up to a better and more well payed position." He took a breath, ready to continue.
"And I really wanted to make enough money to buy a flat in Britain by the summer so you won't have to go back home... Instead you can come and we can...start living together?" He said, looking hopefully at Carsa, slightly fearful that she could possibly reject the idea. What if she wasn't quite ready to live with him full time? Well, wasn't being at Hogwarts something similar to that, other than the fact that they weren't sharing a bed or a room? They didn't have much privacy on top of that either, but that wasn't the point. If she was ready to marry him, she would be ready to live with him for two and a half months in the summer, right?
