Patch Message October 25, 2002
October 25, 2002 3:00 am
------------------------------

- Added a toggle command for combat music called /combatmusic
- Sounds that fade out will just fade back in if restarted (instead of fading out and starting over as before). This should make combat mode toggling much more pleasant
- Added /mixahead command. You should only use this command if you are experiencing sounds skipping. The default value for this command is 8. Basically, this command tells the sound engine how far ahead to pre-mix your sound. The larger the number the further ahead it mixes. So if you are experiencing skipping, you may want to try increasing the mixahead value in small increments (increase it by 2 or 4 at a time). A setting of about 16 is probably as large as you should need, greater than that will cause your sounds to be noticeably delayed.

- Swarm and Reanimation-type pets no longer give exp when killed
- Swarm and Reanimation-type pets now properly credit their leader when they kill an NPC

- Fixed an issue with /raid that was causing some folks to crash
- Fixed a bug that was allowing players without Planes of Power to be invited to /raids

- Added minimum and maximum price search parameters for the Bazaar

- Fixed a stability issue on the servers

-------------

Disgusted by the text I bolded. Pretty sure this means that you won't be able to get in the raid by being in a group that got invited. Which means that no one will ever use /raid except in the planes.

/nod

We were going to do a PoA raid for a friend, and I was excited about the prospect of doing it as a /raid, until I realized it was only for PoP owners. =(

You worked just fine for 3 years w/o /raid...

Why not keep doing things the same way, or spend the 2 month's worth of subscribtion fees and get PoP? The transport system alone is worth $25 :)

Nothing is /forcing/ you to upgrade. You just don't get the new features.

Sure you're forced. You'll find that when you feel left out next time someone is conducting a /raid raid. It will be used everywhere soon enough, even outside PoP, even if you are not of a level to fully experience PoP content.

It should, since it's the basic premise of the entire computer industry.

This complaint has been posted elsewhere on the boards here and frankly, I agree with it. PoP is not that expensive for what you get out of it. Just go buy it, ya cheap bastiges ;) If for nothing else than the ease of travel from city to city without paying overpriced druids 8)

You can still group with the /raid.

You just wont get any XP, and wont be able to read the /raid text... Fix? Use a chat channel.

If you all have a problem getting your arms around this, wait until you buy a car and the next model year they release has a bigger engine, leather seats as standard equipment, etc..

Its called life. Might want to get used to it.

Re: Patch Message October 25, 2002
Actually it's more like selling a car the next year that can go in a special lane and then convincing all the governments to remove one lane from all roads and use it for this new car.

The biggest reason IMHO that this is total BS is say you go to a raid and 20 out of the 24 people there have PoP and they setup a raid. Now if there was no /raid you have good chances that your group gets around 25% of the XP. With /raid however you will be garaunteed 0% xp. Now that is BS.

I suppose they could fix that by making it so that if your group gets the kill, only the portion of XP equal to the portion of people in the raid goes to the raid and the rest goes to the people not in the raid, but then again it'd be alot easier for VI to just not be morons save themselves alot of work and let everyone participate in raids.

Better graphics, better spells, better items, even a better UI are acceptable things to be expansion specific, but things as basic as how XP is distributed should be common to all players. Paying for the right to get XP is dumb.
