Hey everyone! I was last online on Friday. I got home Sunday night from Alabama (where me and a few friends went to see Natural, but that's a whole other post!), and today I found a bunch of emails from everywhere about Peter bailing on the UK tour. Sarah told me I should post the information I have, just so everyone here may know what is going on. Please keep in mind that what I'm about to say was told to me over a month and a half ago...so, to me, it's all old news. Sarah, I did tell you about this when I got home from Knoxville, didn't I? Okay, on the Monkees-List, Torka said: Re: Peter on tour in the UK I don't know for sure whether Peter will be on the UK leg of the tour or not, but what I can tell you is that in a conversation with him about a month and a half ago, he did mention that he was going to be leaving the tour at some point, with Davy and Micky going on without him. I didn't say anything to the list at that time as Peter wasn't totally clear as to exactly when he was leaving the tour, and (frankly) I was too surprised by his announcement to think to ask (at least not until *after* we'd hung up the phone... oh, well...).>> That's pretty much it, I believe. Apparently he told Torka around the same time that he told me. Okay, but this is what he told me. "The UK tour might not happen. Tickets aren't selling well at all the venues. And we will not bring this tour over there for three shows. It's not worth it." I think what he meant by that was that three of the shows had sold out, but the other four shows were having poor ticket sales. It is simply too expensive to bring a tour, with the amount of people they have on the tour, all the way over there for as few shows as that. But he didn't say to me that he was gonna back out of that tour. He told me that he was pulling out of the Monkees tour, all together. He said, in Knoxville, that he had turned in his resignation papers. He washed his hands of the Monkees. After all the shows that were confirmed as of the beginning of July were played, then he would leave. He said that any dates that were confirmed after then, would be just Micky and David. (Monkees A La 1970, anyone?) I spoke to Peter on Sunday night. He called as I was just getting home from AL. He was in Bakersfield, I guess getting ready for the show since it was around 6pm CA time. Since I had yet to read about him bailing on the UK tour, I asked him about the Philly date. Ummm, best way to explain that is to just give like what I said and what he said : Me: "There was a new Monkees date added for 15 September, I believe. I can't remember where though. Will you be there or will it be just David and Micky?" Peter: "No, it's just them. I won't be there." Me: "Okay, I was just wondering, since it is still being billed as a Monkees show, all three of you. If they don't change that, there are gonna be alot of upset fans out there." Peter: "That's all on the promoters now. I am sorry for the fans though. I hope that they will understand." I'm wondering, since I didn't know where it was, if he knew exactly which show I was talking about. From his saying that, I am set to believe that the Grand Prairie TX show will be his last Monkees show. He also told me in FL that his show with James Lee on 9 September in NC is the last show he has booked right now...until he and James or he and SSB get more booked. So, ya'll see what he's leading me to assume, right? That's basically it...I think... Watch this, I'm gonna post this, read it, and see that I left something big out...or something like that <g> I dunno...Anyhoos...I'm gonna go now...
