Physical Dangers Of Compulsive Overeating Disorder
Physical Dangers Of Compulsive Overeating Disorder
Like other eating disorders, there are physical dangers that go along with compulsive eating such as Arthritis (also join pain caused by increased stress on the body from weight), Diabetes, Embolism, heart problems, Hiatal Hernia, high cholesterol, Hypertension, shortness of breath, Sciatica, fatigue and even cardiac arrest.
With Anorexia and Bulimia, sufferers are lead to medical professionals where overeaters seem to be led to diet centers. This is ironic when diet programs are not the answer and sufferers usually always fail at attempted diet programs because the emotional reasons behind the eating disorder are not dealt with. If the emotional problems of the sufferer are not managed, dieting and bingeing can go on for many years. Perhaps overeating may not seem like a serious condition to some - IT IS and it can become life threatening. Unlike a person who suffers from Anorexia Nervosa and fails to recognize their problem, people who are overeaters know and are aware that their eating patterns and behaviors are not normal. Treatment for an overeater should include a medical evaluation, professional therapy and a nutritionist.
With any serious eating disorder, proper treatment can lead a person to over and recover from compulsive eating disorder. It takes time and it means dealing with all the issues involved, especially the underlying ones. There is hope for a happier and healthier life.
