Prologue
The Second War was escalating at a rapid pace, the Death Eaters conquering more and more as they continued to fight. Hogwarts could still not be taken over, but that didn’t stop the Dark Side from trying. In Harry’s seventh year, an attack took place on the night of April 16th, resulting in the deaths of many students, including Cho Chang, Marietta Edgecomb, Roger Davies, Seamus Finnigan, Ernie MacMillan, and the untimely death almost came to Luna Lovegood as well, but she managed to escape serving as one of the few witnesses that could recall the attack in full. Many other students were left wounded, and it was the first night in the existence of Hogwarts that every single bed in the Hospital Wing was taken, with more students lining up in the corridor for care nursing cuts, broken arms, and even severed limbs.
Harry, who had suffered from the Cruciatus Curse, knew that he would have to fulfill the Prophecy soon, or the entire wizarding would would perish. Voldemort didn’t make another appearance for a great deal of time, a year and a month to be exact, and when he did, Harry had prepared himself. With Ron and Hermione, he had practiced some of the most advanced spells known to the magical world, for he refused to be caught off guard. When Voldemort came, Harry matched him. But after a long drawn out battle, he was left without a wand. Running was the only thing he could do. And he ran until he reached Dumbledore’s office. Frantically searching for anything to save his life, as well as the rest of the wizarding world, Harry removed Godric Gryffindor’s sword from the glass case in Dumbledore’s office, and soon defeated Lord Voldemort with the sword that had already saved his life once before.
After Voldemort fell to the ground dead, and all wizards had been cleared from the scene, several Unspeakables for the Ministry of Magic took his body, cremated it, and stowed it as deep into the Department of Mysteries as you could possibly go. For they knew that in the remnants of Lord Voldemort, there was still a dark magic that could be obtained by another individual, and it would be nearly suicidal to allow the magic to fall into the hands of another, especially one that would abuse the powers.
Like one certain man that goes by the name of Lucifer Maleham. Ever since his birth, Maleham has believed that he, himself, is the heir of Lord Voldemort. And since Voldemort’s death, Maleham has been searching and searching for ways to either resurrect him from the dead, or take his power himself. Finally he stumbled upon an answer, or a potion more like that he could concoct to transfer a great deal of Lord Voldemort’s powers into himself. He felt there was no one more deserving than him, and that he was born to fulfill what Voldemort was never able to achieve. But the problem stood in the fact that in order to concoct the potion, he needed just a pinch from Lord Voldemort’s ashes. And the ashes were locked in the Department of Mysteries, as safe and sound as an object could possibly be. But Maleham was determined, and would come up with a plot to get the ashes of Lord Voldemort if it was the last thing he did.
Sadly enough, however, Maleham isn’t as cunning as he is evil and crazy at that. No idea could come to him, and soon he had to get the aid of another. Being Panthera Lupus. Maleham knew that Lupus, a stealthy, wily business man, would be able to come up with some sort of idea. What Maleham didn’t consider was that Lupus would want compensation for his services. Lupus knew of Maleham’s ignorance, and quickly took advantage of it. He formulated a plan to steal the ashes directly from the Ministry of Magic, and once he had completed his task (he would trust no one but himself to fulfill such a duty) he refused to give Maleham the ashes of Lord Voldemort until Maleham agreed to accept him as a wing man in power, so to speak. Wing man, Maleham agreed to, but Lupus’s plot wasn’t complete, and he had power on a much larger scale in mind.
After getting a hold of Voldemort’s ashes, Maleham had all the ingredients he needed to complete the potion. What he didn’t know what that he had concocted it entirely wrong, and the contaminated potion had little to no effect on him. He, however, was oblivious to the fact that the potion didn’t work, and believed that he had the power of a hundred men in the very palms of his hands. He locked away the rest of Voldemort’s ashes under the floorboards of the old Riddle house just in case he needed more, but to make sure no one else would get a hold of it. The only individual with the knowledge of the location of Voldemort’s ashes other than Maleham is Panthera Lupus.
In the meantime, Cornelius Fudge is still Minister of Magic, but has become old and paranoid, believing that even after death somehow Dumbledore will manage to over throw him from power. Percy Weasley still plays the role of Senior Undersecretary, but it is becoming more and more evident (to those who care to pay attention) that Percy is taking the reigns as Minister. While he plays the innocent role as an advisor in Fudge’s mind, the old man has fallen quickly to manipulation, and Percy Weasley, who was sworn in as a Death Eater shortly after Maleham supposedly rose to power, has every intention to take advantage of Fudge’s addled demeanor.
The year is 2008, Minerva McGonagall holds the role as Head of Hogwarts (even though there are rumors that she wishes to retire in the near future) and some unexpected posts have come to Hogwarts, such as Draco Malfoy (in disguise) teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts. What’s there to come to Hogwarts in the next year? Will evil triumph, or will good prevail once again? All that is known for sure is that a new day has certainly come to Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
