Well, its the weekend here at MHS. Wouldn't it be great if all schools started on a Friday for the first day of school. What a way to start off. You get a weekend right after your first day. Well, this is because we are done with the first day of class. How so you ask. As you only went to one class. yes, but I am sure that doing the same thing for each class would get boring. So the one class you experienced is basically how all the classes are going to be.
Teacher posts role. Day gets started, end of class happens, everyone goes to their next class, or home..
Well, ezboard still hasn't confirmed anything on a final date when everything is changed over to Yuku. And we are working on what to do next. We all want user friendliness after everything is changed away from Ezbaord, and we are trying everything we can to ensure that we have just that when we are at a new board hosting site.
We have a guest book. Take a look. If you haven't taken a look yet, be sure and do so. ^_^

Somewhere to hide when the nightmares could break the sanctity of sleep. Somewhere for a moment of peace and inner reflection. Somewhere to watch over the school for whatever reason.
What better place than on top of the school roof?
The cusp of dusk bathed the school in a golden light, though the night slowly encroached the sun's reign over the sky. Constant battle of light and darkess and yet both were necessary to keep a balance...poetic in it's own right.
A winged girl seated herself along the edge of the building, her feet dangling over the edge. She hummed the tune of a hymn she heard long ago, one that she had long forgotton the words to. Once in a while, she would knock her heels against the side of the building with a clack. The air was brisk and she dressed accordingly; a soft black jacket in Goth-Lolita style with white lace lined trailing from top to bottom. White faux fur hugged the collar, the cuffs and the hemline. Beneath that would be a simple black jumper-dress and a white long-sleeved blouse with lace cuffs. Both the jacket and the blouse had customed slits to allow freedom of her wings. Thigh-high black stockings and black boots kept her legs warm despite her girlish wear.
With her tonight was a stuffed doll with blond hair, wings and a black goth-loli dress similar to her own; a doll given to her by her father, and the dress she made on her own. Amber rested her chin on the doll's head.
Am I really...demonic?
It's not the first time she heard it, certainly won't be the last either. Her former roommate had regarded her as such, though it was the pot calling the kettle black. Voices of her past had also regarded her as such just before she obliterated them from existance. A man in the alleyway of the Shattered Blessing had faced her in fear of a monster in lace and ribbons as well, though he had done wrong. Datu and the other had disagreed, she had no right they said!
Killing in the name of justice, in the name of saving a life in exhange for a life-
Amber shut her eyes, shutting the lid on those painful thoughts. She had to shut them away before they ate away at her, feeling the mark on her back pulsing like a heartbeat.
"I am right, ne Yuni?" She asked a soft question to the doll in her arms, squeezing it gently against her chest. "I'm doing what I need to do...what I feel is right."

Re: Pulses (Open)
Hawthorne had her tanned leather jacket on to hold back the brisk wind. The night's were getting chillier, soon she'd have to go back to the accursed mall to purchase something a little warmer. She sighed, perhaps this would be more fun without Ayeka, though she could prolly put up with the green-haired girl's taste in jackets, better than dresses anyhow.
Thorny spent a lot of time wandering the school on her own. It's how she met each of her good friends. Ryoko, Ayeka, Datu, Stella, Jun-Bo . . . The list went on but the last boy's name sent a shiver of joy down her spine. She adored him so much, how could they ever work things out between them? How had things turned so sour? The punk-rock girl shook her head, some things were not meant to be understood.
The sun setting in the distance painted a pretty picture, silhouetting the form of a blond girl with wings. How unique. Hawty raised a pierced brow in interest. So many people here looked different, making her attempts at unique clothing and metal-studded face seem rather common. It was interesting.
A gentle tune escaped the blond-haired girl, drifting to Thorne on the wind. She smiled and tugged at her long black braids. They had never played anything remotely like that on the reservation, and it intrigued her further. So many stories weaving together at this most unusual of schools.
Besides, Haw noticed that the angelic looking figure had a doll in her arms, something one didn't see very often at a highschool. In fact, the native girl thought that perhaps she was the only one, and it wasn't like she really had a choice on the matter. Lily just appeared, rarely was the stupid llama summoned. She straightened out her black Metallica t-shirt, and moved silently forward.
"I am right, ne Yuni?"
"I'm doing what I need to do...what I feel is right."
Hmmm, this one seemed like she had a quandary. Though the girl in the moccasins was not usually one to give advice, she had found herself in that postion on a rather regular basis lately. She moved until she was standing just outside the quiet girl's wingspan, and cleared her throat, making enough noise to bring attention to her presence, but hopefully not enough to startle someone sitting on the edge of a roof, wings or not.
"Aanii. That's an interesting statement you make there. Brings to mind thoughts of self-justification in the emptiness of the shki naakshig . Are you believing what you say, or are you trying to convince yourself?"

Re: Pulses (Open)
A clearing of the throat confirmed the suspicions of the crystalline object tucked in the cuff of her jacket. Djibril had made a pulse, a usual response when a unknown presence is around. Not a color or a sensation meant that there was little threat. Good for her, she had left her sword back in her dorm.
"Aanii. That's an interesting statement you make there. Brings to mind thoughts of self-justification in the emptiness of the shki naakshig. Are you believing what you say, or are you trying to convince yourself?"
"Eh?"
A question sprinkled with words she didn't understand. She had not expected for someone to read into her thoughts. Amber quickly used her jacket sleeve to wipe her eyes of any tears that may have escaped in her self-reflection. If she was going to face this person, it would be with a brave face. Finally she glanced over her shoulder, still clutching on to the doll in a shy and childlike manner. Even the doll seemed to stare up at her, wondering trying to recognize this person.
A dark haired, punkish sort of girl in a tanned leather jacket, peirced in many visible places on her face but still rather pretty. She didn't seem so scary, Amber thought to herself in relief and patted Yuni's hair. The girl did not reek of sulfur and the bells did not toll in her head; she was safe. Now to that question...convincing oneself or truly believing the convictions in her own actions?
"I believe in what I'm saying." She answered quickly, but the reliability in her answer crumbled when she bowed her head, resting her chin on the doll's head again.
"At least I thought so..."

Re: Pulses (Open)
The girl was cute, there was no denying that. Something about her just screamed of conflict and innocence. Her eyes made you want to reach out and protect her. There was a faint glimmer in the girls eye, she thought, but maybe it was a trick of the light. Still, if Thorny was going to pick a place to hide and cry, this would be the one.
"I believe in what I'm saying."
She watched the girl pat her doll, for comfort maybe? It seemed like it. To try to put the two of them on the same level, Haw summoned Lily to her. Sure the stinking llama wasn't nearly as impressive or pretty as the winged dolly, but it made them have something slightly in common. She tucked her own toy under her arm and sat down next to the girl.
"At least I thought so..."
She sighed. She knew what the girl meant. So many times she had been in almost this same position, trying to make herself believe some lie or the other so that the world would make sense again. It was a good coping mechanism, and one she often encouraged, as long as it didn't leave reality too far behind.

Re: Pulses (Open)
A llama doll summoned from nowhere, belonging to the girl who called for it. Amber's eyes lit up just for a moment out of awe; though most people would not care too much for llamas but the winged girl had a general enjoyment of dolls all together.
"Llama..."
She said softly, the shyness slowly melting away as she watched the unknown girl sit next to her. Amber had even reached over to poke the llama doll, as if it would come to life for any specific reason. It wouldn't be too strange if it had, the campus was odd enough as it was.
"Don't worry. The most healthy thing is that you believe you are right, and can convince the world the same. I do it all the time. You have to believe it first though."
"Is that so?"
The melancholy returned in her eyes and body language. Amber twirled the little lock of hair on the stuffed winged doll and "Yuni's" head tilted as if listening to this conversation. Amber believed what she done and had been doing was right...so why were there others who insisted it was wrong? She had taken a certain person's word to heart, that to kill was neccesary of her nature. Why ese would she feel so...relieved afterwards?
So much belief and trust in that and yet in one night it had been jarred by one that she knew and an unknown that had tried to commit the same, even after proclaiming it was wrong. How confusing! Humans were so torn in their actions!
You have no right to kill!
"I believed it for the longest time." Amber said, glancing over at the girl again, eyes as dark as ebony. They may have held an iris of a beautiful color at one time but it was so hard to tell in all of that darkness.
"But...apparently what I feel is right is completely wrong in the eyes of others. Is that always the case?"

Re: Pulses (Open)
Thorne watched the girl's eyes light up as she called Lily to her side. She knew that the move would put the other girl at ease, and she smiled. It was nice to see something resembling happiness in such a pretty face.
"Llama..."
The girl poked the doll, and Haw chuckled. If only Lucas were here he could make the doll dance for the girl, which would have been hilarious. She made a mental note to get him to try it sometime, she was curious as to what a doll named after her little sister would have to say. The winged girl poked the llama's belly, and the moccasin-clad one grinned.
"She's not as pretty as yours, but her name is Lily, and she certainly knows how to make me feel better when I'm upset and confused. She's also a pretty good listener, and so am I."
"Is that so?"
Darn, she was all depressed again. As the girl fiddled with her doll, Thorny desperately searched for something to say to make the girl feel better. What to do, what to do. She seemed so conflicted, if only more of the story had been aired, the Ojibwe girl would be able to make some sort of definite answer.
"I believed it for the longest time."
"But...apparently what I feel is right is completely wrong in the eyes of others. Is that always the case?"
"You know, a lot of the time it is. Just remember, you can never please everyone, they each have different standards and beliefs. Either choose one person to please, or screw them all and please yourself. If you do so, someone out there will agree with your actions. And that is the person who really matters. You should always be yourself, no matter what anyone else says."
Hawthorne idly kicked the side of the building with her leather-wrapped feet. It was nice up here, and the view was phenomenal. She'd have to remember to make her way up here more often, though, hopefully not with Sakura. She didn't like the Cherry personality coming out so close to a ledge.

"Lily? That's a cute name for a llama."
And just as good as a listener as Yuni had been through the years. For the years Amber lacked a sibling, it had been Yuni who had heard her grievances and heard the nightmares she had endured without reserving a judgement. Dolls are always wonderful in that way. Now if only Lucas would bring both Yuni and Lily back to life. She could finally know what kind of conversation dolls have. The thought allowed the faint return of her smile and her small, white wings perked up just a bit in conjuction with her mood.
So humans do share similar sentiments with her, though the girl had no idea of her actions. Would it matter to this girl so much if she knew what she had done to incur her self-reflection?
It had not mattered to V or Akai, who remained by her side despite witnessing Amber's darker half one night in a furniture store from Hell. It had not mattered to Vash, who knew of the misdeeds but had not witnessed the darker half. How lucky she was to have them...
"I actually have a few who accept me, despite what I am and what I have done. They mean a lot to me...I'm fortunate in that sense, ne?"
The winged girl tilted her head down to the girl's leather moccasins and she wondered if she had made them herself as they were quite nice. In that breif wonder, Amber realized that she had no idea of this kind soul's name! A blush crossed her face as she once again faced her aquaintence.
"I'm sorry, I forgot my manners...I'm Amber." She lifted the doll from her lap, the black eyes staring at the girl next to her.
"This is Yuni, a gift from my father. Like Lily, she's a good listener."

Re: Pulses (Open) "Lily? That's a cute name for a llama."
"Thank you. It was my little sister's name. I like to think that having it around means I have a little bit of her with me, available at a moment's notice, eh?"
Hawthorne wasn't always good at picking up subtle signals, but she did notice the white wings twitch. Those were so cool looking. She wished she had had wings, then, like the women in legend, she could fly away to sleep on the moon, where the nightmare demons couldn't find you. Maybe then she would actually get some sleep.
"I actually have a few who accept me, despite what I am and what I have done. They mean a lot to me...I'm fortunate in that sense, ne?"
"You are indeed, the greatest treasure in life is to find someone who will love and accept you, no matter what happens. People like that are so rare, so hard to come by."
She drifted off, getting rather solemn herself, thinking about a few things. The girl seemed conflicted, just as Thorny herself was. It was curious, so many of the students here seemed to have issues that surpassed those of people she had encountered before. Every one of them had a past, and a lot of them were trying to escape theirs. Was this the human condition, or was it a particular trait of the meta-human adolescent? Was this to be her lot in life?
"I'm sorry, I forgot my manners...I'm Amber."
"This is Yuni, a gift from my father. Like Lily, she's a good listener."
"Oh my, I suppose you're not the only one whose manners were lacking. I'm Miinen . . . sorry. I'm Hawthorne. I get so wrapped up in my thoughts that I try to speak in my native language, but it is not exactly well known."
She wondered if she was going to be too presumptuous, but her curiousity was too much to take. Tentatively, as if unsure if she had the right to ask, she broached the subject that weighed most heavily on her mind. It had been circling her brain since the first words the girl had spoken.
"So what did you do that was so controversial? What were people judging you for."
Seeing the person that had run from him at the cafe the other day, he said greeting.
"Hi!" he said with a smile as he waved at her.
he then walked over and sat on the ground next to her.
"How are you doing today? I am sorry if I caused you mis-comfort the other day. I did not mean to alarm you. May we have a second chance at getting to know each other?"

Re: Pulses (Open)
"Hawthorne? I like your name, it's different."
Amber said with a smile while mentally noting that the girl had said native language. Was she from a different part of the world and if so, where? Those questions would had to wait for Hawthorne had asked the question she feared most:
"So what did you do that was so controversial? What were people judging you for."
Amber visibly flinched at the question, giving Yuni a comforting squeeze. The question was easy but answering it was going to be difficult to answer if she even decided give a reply. She had just met Hawthorne and already began to like her; saying what she had done could change that rather easily. The winged girl stared at her, visibly torn between saying the truth and lying through her teeth. But something her aquaintence had said:
"You are indeed, the greatest treasure in life is to find someone who will love and accept you, no matter what happens. People like that are so rare, so hard to come by."
Was Hawthorne one of those people? Why would someone say something so kind if they didn't mean it or believe in it? Humans may have been created in God's image, but they lie and can easily fall into sin. A cold and sultry voice from her nightmares had always whispered that there are very few who could handle her presence or accept her existance. However, the few friends Amber kept close seemed to defy that suggestion. There was only one way to find out...
"I killed someone. Actually..." She averted her eyes. There was both relief in confessing her sins and tension in expectation of a harsh reaction from the girl. "I've killed before and had tried to again recently. I saw what this person had done in a dream, and through a child's prayer, I fufilled his wish. That child would've lost his father as he had the rest of his family to this man, so I carried out his wish and-"
She forced herself to stop. Rarely did Amber speak of her dreams to anyone except to V or Vash, however her heart was heavy in that burden and needing release. She could not stop the words escaping her lips and she refused to watch Hawthorne's reaction as she continued:
"Because of what I am, what I exist to be...I had felt that what I was doing was right: taking a life to save another's. An aquaintence of mine and another both tried to stop me and declared that I had no right to make such a judgment on this man. I found myself confused by this...was it right to let one of a darker heart live to kill others or to fufill the child's prayer and-"
Amber had suddenly stopped and for good reason. Out of nowhere, the other person Amber had been talking about arrived, Azure. There was a shift in the winged girl's personality and she became more agitated as she looked at Hawthorne.
It was evident that Amber wanted to move away from him.

Re: Pulses (Open) "Hawthorne? I like your name, it's different."
She smiled at the winged girl. Her name was very different, it suited her very well too. She tended to have a sharp, thorny outside, and a strong, sturdy inside. She was very good at protecting the few people she had loved in her time.
"Thank you, Amber. I think your name is very pretty."
She felt bad that the girl so visibly affected by her question. The girl didn't have to answer, but she wished she would. She was curious. The girl looked so shy and innocent, it couldn't have been anything that bad.
There were so many things it could have been, the possibilities were nearly endless. One could never know what another person's judgement of unforgivable would be, after all. Still, Thorny felt that she could forgive this girl nearly anything, there was an air of innocence around her that the piercing girl envied.
"I killed someone. Actually..."
"I've killed before and had tried to again recently. I saw what this person had done in a dream, and through a child's prayer, I fufilled his wish. That child would've lost his father as he had the rest of his family to this man, so I carried out his wish and-"
The girl paused, as if the next part was the hardest for her to share. Haw carefully began to process her words in the silence, going over what Amber had said. The winged girl seemed to have been in the right. After all, a child in need was more important than a killer, which was obviously what the man was, taking an entire family from the child. She pictured her young sister Lily, and she pictured Drewe. She had no problem with the dark-eyed lady's killing, and she knew just what to say.
"Because of what I am, what I exist to be...I had felt that what I was doing was right: taking a life to save another's. An aquaintence of mine and another both tried to stop me and declared that I had no right to make such a judgment on this man. Hawthorne looked in the newcomer's direction, and stood up to stand between him and Amber. It was obvious the girl didn't want to talk to this man, and she could reinforce that message. She listened to his greeting, it seemed innocent enough, but apparently he had already upset her previously. Perhaps she should just push the boy off the roof and solve both their problems.
"Hi!"
"How are you doing today? I am sorry if I caused you mis-comfort the other day. I did not mean to alarm you. May we have a second chance at getting to know eachother?"
Hawthorne turned to Amber, a fierce look in her eyes. She had to convince the girl now, and then get them away from the interloper. How to phrase it though?
"I hope the bastard you killed rots in Hell for eternity. Anyone who makes a child suffer that much deserves what they get, and I admire you for being the instrument of justice."

Re: Pulses (Open)
Amber had no idea how Hawthorne would have reacted to all that she said. Would she have judged her just as Datu and the one that had now joined them had? They knew nothing of her nature, how she felt about her sins or what nightmares she faced whenever the night comes and she tries to drift into the comforting arms of sleep. Very few could understand it…Azure wasn’t one of them, he had made that clear back at the Shattered Blessing. And there was something else about him, something she could not remember; a darkness in his own heart, hypocritical and dangerous.
Keep him away…far away…he doesn’t understand…
Amber had turned to Hawthorne in a silent plea for help. To the nephilim’s surprise, the girl had placed herself between her and the interloper. The young man had introduced himself kindly enough, but the winged girl only pressed her lips to her doll’s head like a vow of silence. Then Hawthorne turned to Amber with that fierce look in her eyes…and then she spoke:
"I hope the bastard you killed rots in Hell for eternity. Anyone who makes a child suffer that much deserves what they get, and I admire you for being the instrument of justice."
Amber’s eyes lit up! Hawthorne had heard what she had said with silence and now it had come through in that simple declaration. There were those who could understand her actions, despite those voices, the judgment of others, and the unseen physical consequences she bore on her back.
{"There are those who are able to hear, to understand." Said a comforting familiar voice that could only exist in dreams."When you find them, they will be your most precious allies. Always be aware of those around you and take the risk if you see the oppourtunity...}
She had been right to trust her and with that Amber took her Hawthorne’s hand.
“Thank you..."

Re: Pulses (Open)
Hawthorne watched Amber through the entire exchange, trying to sense which way the girl was going, if she would hear the words and recognize their intention. Lady piercings certainly knew how to find the words she herself would want to hear, but couldn't always tell it others would take them the same way.
When the winged girl's eyes lit up, some of the ferocity faded from her eyes. She understood Hawthorne's intentions, and that was all the Ojibwe girl required. Still, there was so much more that could be expressed and shared. Not with the boy there though, Amber didn't seem to like or trust him.
The girl reached out and took her hand, and Thorny closed her strong, callused palm around the more dainty appendage cupped in her palm. The angelic creature was so tiny, so breakable, and the urge to protect her welled up all the stronger within Haw. She wrapped her fingers around the girl's wrist and helped her to her feet. Their hands enclosed round one another, in the most ancient symbol of trust and friendship.
“Thank you..."
"You don't need to thank me. I speak only what my heart says is true. But you are welcome anyways. Now, is this man bothering you?"
Hawthorne turned a deadly glare at the boy who had interrupted them. She may not be powerful, but you didn't need to be this high up . . .

Amber stared at the young man in silence, her mind slowly uncovering monochrome stills of a night she could only remember in her nightmares. This same young man, so kind he may have been, had snapped that night and revealed a very vicious side. He had tried to attack HER target after all! The winged girl had to nearly release the target from his demise in order to stop him however...
A gentle, almost pleading tug of Hawthorne's hand attempted to gain her attention. The winged doll in her arm stared blankly between the firey girl and young man that had judged her owner.
"He's not worth agression..." She said in that soft voice, "He doesn't understand the circumstances and may never understand. It will be best if we leave him be..."

The night air was crisp - cool against the skin, coiling around and caressing the supple cheeks that were exposed of those who lingered on the roofs edge.
But can they feel it. . .
Can they sense it. . .
The presence of another - a sharp gust wind rips from behind, almost gale in force. Footsteps, there were none to be heard, but breathing (.auidible.) a deep inhale of the surrounding oxygen was taken in, filling the lungs before being expunged as nothing more than carbon dioxide.
Enter Yagami
"Amber. . ." Silence was not an option, his voice should be familiar enough as the sound resonates with booming authority. A side effect of maturation.
Fingers, bound and bandaged as far as the eye can see, from tip shoulder lifted from his side, crawling through the viel of black hair, streaks of crimson high light through the inky main -- which had nearly doubled in lenght. It was his mask, it hid half emotion much like it hid half of his face - Ice cold stark eyes stare with no visible emotion dipictiing within side their frozen tundras.
A sleeveless t-shirt was paired with a losse fitting cargo's. The cool air didn't seem to bother him much, a placid expression was held as he was waiting for reaction.
