Returning...
Leaving... (Posted around september 2004)

Knolk Tank the 15 year old student of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was up at the crack of dawn standing in the entrance hall with his travelling cloak wrapped around him and on his back a small bag which was the size of a small house on the inside. He looked around the entrance hall, he had pretty much avoided the place, he never knew why but it seemed so perfect to him, every minute nook and cranny seemed to tell is own tale, he walked over to the near by hour glass which had Gryffindor inscribed across the top, rays of morning sunshine shone through the glass which should have been causing 85 points worth of red crystals glow, the points he had lost a few months earlier.

After a long period of staring at the cavernous hall longingly, he pulled out a letter which he glanced at causing him to observe his watch, ‘forty minuets left’ he murmured, he kept the letter clutched in his hand sitting down at the foot of the marble staircase; every so often he would hear a tiny bump or mild pop from the kitchens. He looked at his watch again ‘Why is time dragging’ he murmured impatiently, he drew his wand in boredom and thought of what he had learnt in his short time at Hogwarts, he remembered the first spell he had been taught at the ancient castle and of the first spell he had used which almost got him expelled. He held his wand up slightly and quietly muttered ‘Bubblelos’ a jet of multi-coloured scented bubbles streamed from his wand.

For the few minuets after his sat on the staircase and gently prodded the bubbles he had conjured; over the previous week a slight shadowed are had grown around his mouth, he had forgotten to shave for a few mornings and it was starting to get noticeable, he looked at his watch again, ‘thirty minuets left’ he thought. He stood up quickly as he heard the tap of someone’s’ foot behind him, he turned around quickly to see the person who was tapping their foot...

...Returning...

...It was a warm summer’s night in the moon lit grounds of Hogwarts, there were no clouds and little wind which caused a fine mist to lingered over the sloping lawns and the gigantic lake; the great castle of Hogwarts appeared to be dead, basking in the moon light dreamily, a few trees in the Dark Forest groaned heavily as a slight breeze swept gently thought them, ruffling their leaves, breaking the claming silence which accompanied the mist. The trees continued to groan angrily for a few moments and after the silence had regrouped and plunged the grounds back into their previously relaxed state a mysterious figure appeared discreetly at the edge of the Dark Forest.

His appearance was grungy, his long hair which fell to his lumbar area of his back and his poorly groomed facial hair was greasy from sweat, and dirty from his travels, his clothing was literally short of being rags, the main reason being that they had been stitched up so many times that they had become deformed; and although everything else about him was scruffy, the bag which he had slung over his shoulder was surprisingly in immaculate condition.

The man, Knolk Tank, former student of the school, had been pulled out of it by the Ministry of Magic in his fifth year, to do work which consumed the last three years of his life, and having finally completed his task for the ministry and been sworn to secrecy, they had given him permission to return to school to complete what was left of his education; even though he was old enough to have graduated he was still eager to try and pick up from where he left off.

After staring at the enormous castle for a while, Knolk pulled out a small silver item from within one of his mangled pockets and he looked at it; the item was like a gentleman’s pocket watch except for this watch had twelve hands, which only he understood what they meant, taking a reading and then placing the item back into his pocket the man tutted, “got here a bit too early” he mumbled under his breath; looking at the mist which covered the grounds he could make out certain landmarks which caused many memorable memories to flood back to him, most of them making him smile, the one which truly stuck out to him was that of which was associated with a cliff face which overlooked the great lake, this is where, in his first year, he had first met, his first girl friend; being a place of great importance to him he decided to stroll over to that spot and wait until dawn.

Knolk sat on top of this cliff for quite a while watching the mist starting to gradually dissipate and the skies slowly turn pink, he couldn’t believe that he hadn’t missed the place as much as he did, closing his eyes trying to reminisce some more, a smile came to his face, he stood up quickly, removed his cloak and jumped off the cliff, diving into the lake; the cold water flowed around and through his clothing, feeling so refreshing that when he resurfaced he was forced to take a huge gasp for air.

Getting out of the water after a good half-an-hour of swimming the sun had finally risen, quickly running back to the top of the cliff he grabbed his cloak and appeared to jump into his bag and a few minutes after this amazing spectacle of magic and wonder, he reappeared out of his bag in some fresh clothes and a dry body, although his long dark hair was still a bit damp, it was now clean and dirt free; slinging the strange bag over his shoulder, he casually strolled towards the bridge which crossed over a gorge to the great oak doors of the castle, where he was going to go and meet the headmaster; he reached the oak doors and he pushed them open, walking into the entrance hall confidently, the thought suddenly dawned on him, ‘Where’s the headmasters office again?’ looking from left to right sheepishly, he couldn’t believe that he had forgotten the way.

OOC: Hi, i'm returning finally, sorry it's a little bit long, but i had a bit of a writers block so i couldn't get my words out properly, so i decided to ramble on a bit.

Re: Returning...
Knolk looked around bashfully, he could see the entrance to the dungeons, the entrance to the great hall and the great marble stair case which he decided to walk over to and gracefully drop down on to; thinking of what he could possibly do, he pulled out his wand, held it to his forehead and started to cast a spell “discere did—“ suddenly, a great booming voice smashed through the silence of the great castle, causing Knolk’s spell to fall short and his face to go incredibly red from underneath his tangle of hair; still rather embarrassed from the announcement, glad that other people where still in their dormitories and hoping that the announcement didn’t wake them up, Knolk literally ran up to the fifth floor vaulting several of the moving staircases on the way until he reached the grand paining of Merlin, which concealed the entrance to the headmaster’s office.

Knolk looked up to the eyes of Merlin in his portrait and he asked the portrait if he could enter, the portrait looked down at the young man, ‘Do you have the password’ the old wizard asked him, “well no” Knolk replied “but I am here to see the head master, so could you please let me through” just as he finished his sentence the portrait opened a jar and a face appeared around the corner.
