OOC:
_respect Basic kindergarten rule here, people. Treat others the way you want to be treated, and we can all get along.
_breaking the rules Please note that at this board, we have a three strike rule. Every time you break a rule, you will be warned. If you break a rule three times (it doesn't matter if it's the same rule over and over, or if it's a different rule), you will be banned.
_disputes If you have a problem with someone on the board, DO NOT FIGHT WITH THEM ON THE BOARD. ANDHC was not created to fuel the flame between argumentative people. If you need to have it out with someone else, do so in PM’s or by instant messaging.
_touchy subjects Please use sensitivity when it comes to the topics you choose to discuss on the board, and likewise in the livechat. Everyone is entitled to their own belief.
_real life Real life will always come first. If you have a conflict and need to take time off from the board, please post a message in the Leave of Absence forum letting us know you’ll be gone. Also please be a good judge as to if you can continue role-playing at our board due to events in your life. If things are too hectic and you cannot possibly see yourself having time at all to role-play, please let us know so we don’t continue on with false hopes of your return.
_probation Just as we know that real life always comes first, if you go away without telling us then in a matter of weeks (Two or three) your character will be moved into probation. Three or Four weeks after that, they will be moved to the death chamber. They will not be declared officially "dead" in the RP, they will merely poof. If you come back you can reclaim your character. If they're in probation just comment on the profile asking to have it returned to the "Accepted" forums. If they are in the Death Chamber, you will need to reapply as the character. This also follows the three strike rule. Abandon us three times without reason, then we're sorry. We won't let you re-apply.
_code So we know you’ve read the rules, enter "Ron" into the Code section of the application.
Role-Playing:
_plagiarising This is illegal. I hope you all realize that. If anyone is caught plagiarising at ANY board, not just this one, there will be serious punishments.
_tense You are to role-play at all times in the third person, past tense. For example:
WRONG: I go down the stairs and see Jereff. I go and talk to him.
RIGHT: Alex hurried down the stairs, spotting Jereff at the bottom of the steps.
_spelling Please use the spell check if you have a hard time with spelling. :)
_godmoding For those of you who don’t know, this is when you control other peoples’ characters. There will be NONE of that at this board, and this rule is taken very seriously. Just don't do it.
_length We are an intermediate to advanced level role-playing board, and most of the members at this site are advanced. So we request that posts be at least two lengthy and well developed paragraphs with 3-5 sentences at least in each. More is splendid, and we highly encourage that you do more.
_characterization Keep true to your profile please. That's what we write them for.
_plots All major plots must be discussed with the admins before they are played out. No killing characters unless both characters as well as the admins consent. Student use of the unforgiveables is completely forbidden unless discussed with the admins prior to use.
_dates Please date your posts in a MM/DD/YY format following the role-play time. A calendar will be provided to aid you in dating posts.
Applications:
_format You must follow the application format that we have provided. Any others will be rejected, and we will ask you to re-write it with our format. Simply using the right format from the start will make things easier for all of us.
_rejecting We hold the right to reject your application if it doesn't reach the standard of the board. We will, however, try to work with you to get it up to par by giving you tips on how to edit it. Please don't see this as us attacking you or being negative. It's all constructive criticism, and it's standard procedure to make sure characters are ready to go so you can start role playing.
_critiquing It may take a couple days before we reply to your profile. If it's more than three or four days, you're welcome to send us a PM or nudge us gently. Please don't make repeated posts to get us to look at it, or bump it up every hour. We promise we WILL look over your application in due time. If it's taking a while, it's probably because we have lots of things we're trying to do at once.
_character limit Please don't take on any more characters than you can handle. You can have as many characters as you want, but you better pay attention to all of them! If you don't give all of your characters enough attention, we won't let you apply a new character until you either drop a character to make more time, or start giving attention to all of them.
_posting DO NOT post on the board until you have been accepted.
_magical creatures Werewolves, unless written carefully and articulately, will be rejected. No vampires, point blank. Same with elves. The only elves in the wizarding world are house elves. No half veelas unless they're canon. No dwarves, half giants (since giants are nearly extinct), giants, or fairies. Stick with humans, please.
_animagi If you want your character to become an animagi, PM either me, Seshiri, or Rei. We will most likely discuss it with each other, and decide if we will allow your character to become one. Please realize that just because you ask doesn’t mean you will get to be one.
_descendants No descendants of the original Harry Potter characters. It’s only ten years after they graduated, and in ten years, Harry and Hermione can’t have a child that’s already ELEVEN and ready to attend Hogwarts. No distant cousins that no one ever knew about either. If it isn’t canon, then don’t make family relationships with canon characters.
_abandonment If you apply, please be serious about joining the board. Don't just apply and then never post.
_attire Remember that Hogwarts is a uniform school. Students will not go to class in muggle clothing as it’s un-acceptable with school rules. This also means no funky hair colors, no excessive piercings or tattoos. After class is out, students may feel free to wear what they wish, as well as on the weekends. There is a school dress code as well, keep in mind, and anything too revealing will merit your character either a warning or a detention.
_blood Purebloods are rare. Not every pureblood character will be accepted since we would like to be realistic.
_eyes Keep them one color (no changing with mood) and realistic, please. Blue, brown, green, grey, and hazel.
_backup Due to recent ezBoard events, it would be very wise to save your application in Word before you post it.
Personal Pictures:
_avatars Largest avatar allowed: 150x200 pixels. Anything bigger, we’ll ask you to change or re-size.
_signatures Please don't stretch the board. 600 pixels wide and over, we’ll ask you to resize. Also don’t have a signature that’s longer than you post.
_PG-13 No explicit material in any personal pictures. No nudity, profanity, or porn. This has never been a problem on the board before, but I don’t want it to be one, so please use common sense when making PPs.
Regarding Administrators:
_respect Very simple. Respect us, and we will respect you.
_decisions As administrators, our decisions are final. You may ask us why we made our decision, but please don't argue about it in a rude manner. We're doing the best we can.
_code So we know you’ve read ALL the rules, add “Weasley” at the end of the Code section to make a full name.
