Second year lesson
The summer was over and Mary Ashmore was in front of her classroom waiting for her second year class to come in and get settled. She was in the front of the classroom perching on a stool reviewing her notes for the class. From experience, Mary knew her students would want to talk and find out about each others summers so she let them.
Professor Ashmore was ready for the class. The second years were usually a bit handful, they seemed to have a newly found assurance after completing their first year. Mary could handle them though. When she had too, Mary could be strict. And even though she was the Ravenclaw house head she showed them no favoritism.
Patiently Mary waited for the second years to arrive. She also gave them a few minutes to talk and let any late arrivals show up. It was the first lesson after all and the students were still letting their summer energy wear off.
