Well, its the weekend here at MHS. Wouldn't it be great if all schools started on a Friday for the first day of school. What a way to start off. You get a weekend right after your first day. Well, this is because we are done with the first day of class. How so you ask. As you only went to one class. yes, but I am sure that doing the same thing for each class would get boring. So the one class you experienced is basically how all the classes are going to be.
Teacher posts role. Day gets started, end of class happens, everyone goes to their next class, or home..
Well, ezboard still hasn't confirmed anything on a final date when everything is changed over to Yuku. And we are working on what to do next. We all want user friendliness after everything is changed away from Ezbaord, and we are trying everything we can to ensure that we have just that when we are at a new board hosting site.
We have a guest book. Take a look. If you haven't taken a look yet, be sure and do so. ^_^

See No Evil (Open!!!)
The cafeteria is full of students, grouped in small collections of friends: there, a group who considers themselves the most physically fit of any MHSer, who constantly approach those they deem worthy to sit with them and trade, if not techniques, blows; there, a group of girls, giggly and full of gossip about teachers and students, they seem perfectly normal until; there, a couple of intense, focused individuals, staring at laptops, multiplayer games set on the go, trying to hunt each other down in silence.
V steps out of the cafeteria line with her usual measured (grace) stride. Her tray is balanced firmly in both hands and, although once again a certain cafeteria man has given her the equivilant of vomit for food, she has a juice box and an apple (although the apple is browning on the side). But V isn't paying attention to her food. She hardly pays attention to the table she chooses to sit at, although she chooses the empty half.
And why?
Earlier that day. . .
V opened her eyes, blinked against the crack of sunlight slipping in through the blinds. The back of her hand was over her eyes, and her fingers curled in, one eye squinted. "Mm? Good morning." The shadows replied: Good morning. (While others said: This happened while you were asleep and still others murmured And then he and another said Back before she was here and another There were and another Bathroom another Cereal, but not lucky charms and another . . . )
She swung her feet to the floor, got dressed, purposeful and business like, then opened her door. Then, as she looked, a series of pale ghost gossamer threads snaked across the hall -- some were white, some were dark, some were thin and had no end, others were trailing their ends, which were fraying. Some were as taut as wire . . . as tight and sharp as the wire her uncle . . .
She froze. "Do you see that?"
The shadows: See what? Can you be more specific with your 'that'?
V: "Ha, ha. Really, do you see -- those threads -- ?"
The shadows: . . . threads?
And then they disappeared. But they flickered [firefly uncertain] at the corners of her eyes twice more that morning, when other students passed her.
. . . and in the present.
So, V was worried, although she internalized her worry, and seemed to move with her usual assurance, albeit slightly more distracted than usual. She slid into place, and rested her elbows on the table, her fingertips touching her temples.
The cafeteria looked normal.

Once again, Evan was making his attempt to stoop down to the level of the common man and eat whatever creature the cafeteria had brought to life today. As he recieved his slop and juice box, he could have sworn the bubbling pile of something had moved and inch to the left. With a bit of a shudder inside his mind he made his way out of the line and looked for a place to sit. Of course, he kept an eye on his food as he did so, just in case...
He felt so out of the loop as his eyes brushed over every person in the room. He could even see some people start to get fidgity and paranoid as his gaze brushed against them. A stare worthy of praise indeed! Then, the lone figure. She sat by herself at the end of a table, poking at her food as she seemed deep in thought or against self poisoning like most sane people. He raised an eyebrow as his legs naturally moved him forwards to meet this solitary student. Why she was there, it didn't matter, but a nice conversation while eating his lunch would be nice. Sliding into the seat across from her, he set the tray down gently and looked her over before matching his gaze with her's.
"Contemplating the meaning of life, or just unsure about the food?" he asked with a bit of a smirk. He then took a heeping mouthful of today's lunch. YUCK!
"Then again, wouldn't you thinking already be thought out, so that your thinking is involved in what you'll do? So that means if you didn't think then you wouldn't get to the same conclusion as you would if you thought about it, right? Oh well, best not to think about thinking about thinking, you think so? Re: See No Evil (Open!!!)
Enter, Evan Shadeston: a boy who looked his name. Shade town. Shadow town: shadow black hair, shadow black eyes, shadow black dress. He startles V, although, typically, she tries not to let on; her eyes focus, the blankness fades, and he's reflected in her serious gaze.
The cafeteria is normal (or as normal as a cafeteria ever is). There are no threats. (Or as few threats as there ever are, at the MHS cafeteria). The cafeteria man glowers, and notes that he'll have to give Evan even worse food then usual; he has such a vendetta against the fifteen year old, it extends to some of those who he notes seem 'nice' to her. Then again, Evan's a rich boy, and as soon as the cafeteria man deduces that . . .
And there are no glimmers of things unseen. None at all. At all. Except a tickle at the back of her neck, nothing.
It takes V a moment to answer, and perhaps that moment can be put down to surprise that Evan sat down across from her. Perhaps not. At any rate, her gaze drops a second later to the vomi--er, the Very Edible Food (TM). "Let's say a combination of both. You're new?"
Re: See No Evil (Open!!!)
"Yeah." he said, poking at the food once more.
He couldn't believe people ate this sort of...food? Was it even appropriate to call it that? He glanced over at the male server that seemed so up beat and enthusiastic about his job(snicker) and saw the look of disgust on his face. Something about him made the boy want to jump right out of his seat froma chill down his spine. Definately someone to avoid. Mental note: processed!
His eyes then came back to those golden pools of honey that this girl possessed. Truely magnificent, eye-catching, even breath taking for some on campus. Look but do not touch, though, like a statue of a godess protected by the rich velvet rope of a museum. With his gaze lcoked, it was almost as if two sides of a coin had just seen the other for the first time. Complete opposites, yet still near eachother as if nothing was wrong with it.
"You?" he asked, wondering how long she had been here.
"Since October." Measured cadences. Her manner might be slightly cool, but it's certainly present now; her head is in no clouds. "I'm V. Your name is?"
No distractions. (Speak no evil.) Students chatter, and their shadows whisper, and the cafeteria hums with activity; seems filled with noise, and the noise hangs in the air, a constant, running murmur. (Hear no evil.) But V has had long practice in ignoring background noise, unless certain key words come up. She undoes the plastic around her utensils set, spork (is it a spoon or is it a fork?) and dull knife for cutting any meat to be found in the meal. The napkin she crumples in one hand.
Tickle, behind her ears, and, tickle, behind her eyes. She blinks, once: gravely. And then the cafeteria becomes a crisscrossing maze of threads and ribbons, ghostly radiant and multi-shaded. Evan sits in the middle of them, and he doesn't even seem to react.
Re: See No Evil (Open!!!)
"Evan Shadeston." he syas, his eyes going back to his food as he started to slowly scoop it up.
His hand started to tremble as he looked at it. He didn't know if he could take another mouthful of the dreaded slop. He was hungry though, his stomach rumbled for something, anything! Facing his fear, he quickly ate and swallowed, the taste minimal but still strong somehow. It lingered for a second as he made a twisted face and then it was over. Only about twenty spoonfuls to go...
His eyes then met up with V's again as he continued to slowly swallow his pride and his dinner. Something seemed to be bothering her. The subtle movements, the flicker in her eyes and then the dreadfully long blink. Was it him? Had he upset her? He could tell someone like her would never tell, mostly because he was one himself. All he could do was one simple minded thing:
"You alright?" he asked, raising an eyebrow questioningly.
"Then again, wouldn't you thinking already be thought out, so that your thinking is involved in what you'll do? So that means if you didn't think then you wouldn't get to the same conclusion as you would if you thought about it, right? Oh well, best not to think about thinking about thinking, you think so? Evan shovels the vomit into his mouth and makes a face. But the twisted grugh gross expression isn't what gets her attention. The center of his chest is a hole. From the hole in the center of his chest comes a ribbon which waves, slightly, and twists, as if it were underwater: a thick thread, guitar-wire tense, which coils and snakes through the cafeteria, like all of the others. Except it's not quite like all of the others . . .
Different in colour from most. Different in vividness from most. Glows, dark purples and reds, and doesn't go on forever. She can feel it ending.
Evan's perspective :
While V is staring at Evan's chest, what he'll see is -- well. She's staring at his chest, spork poised in hand to dive into the cafeteria mess. She swallows, swan-throat moves, and her lashes tangle closed for an instant -- bright glance halved. There's a bead of sweat on her temple.
One second. Two seconds. Three seconds. Four seconds. Five seconds.
Then: "I'm feeling a little odd today. Are you living on campus, Evan?"
Re: See No Evil (Open!!!)
"Second floor, room seven." he responded to her question.
As for her actions, he was a little worried. Even if she was gifted like himself, V was acting very odd and seemed to be troubled. Was she always this fidgety? He assumed not as she was obviously very poised and well manered from her overall look. So what was getting under her skin? Maybe it was his stare. He quickly looked down towards his food, trying to make it look as if he wasn't purposfully doing it. IT was a horrible attempt.
"You need to go to the nurse's office or something?" he asked, just making sure she wasn't in serious trouble.
"No. I'll be fine, but," and she sounds sincere, "thank you for asking." Her eyes are closed completely now, lashes dark against her cheeks; shadows lace beneath. But she still sounds normal. She's had so much practice pretending not to notice things that are truly scary. Not much is enough to rattle her visibly.
But this is different. This isn't something that someone else has done. This isn't something creeping up behind. This is something that seems wrong with her. "Do you have a room mate?" She opens one eye, and reaches for her juice box.
The back of her hand brushes against the spirit thread which emanates from Evan's chest, and it vibrates. She pauses, hand in air, and stares again. She pokes the air, an expression of cat concentration stamped on her features: big eyes, no mouth. The thread doesn't poison her; there's no sting of pain; there's no warning in the back of her brain; she doesn't feel weary. She tries to reach past, for the juice box, and it tangles around her wrist.
She shakes her hand, and it won't come off. She shakes her hand more, and it still won't come off. She pulls back, and it appears to break - to dissolve in little fragments. V's breath catches in the back of her throat, and she stares at Evan. Again. "Are you ... okay?"
This is weird behavior for anybody. For V, this is weird behavior par excellence, and certainly noteworthy. And the gossips, well, they note!
Re: See No Evil (Open!!!)
Something was up. Evan kept watching V and her strange actions as the conversation continued. He opened his mouth to answer the next question, but then he noticed something. She was jerking her hand away from her juice box, like it was caught on something. This was starting to get a little too wierd for his taste. His eyes focused on her hand, struggling with thin air. He then put a spoon full of food into his mouth and swallowed before speaking again.
"Are you su-ack...ACK!"
Jsut then, something got caught in his throat. A sharp tug of some sort and he was choking. Hacking up a lung, Evan gripped the edge of the table as he tried to dislodge the piece of food. What was going on? He could have sworn everything was alright until he felt that tug. Was it the girl who did it? There was no time for thinking like that, though. This was a bit of an emergency.

Re: See No Evil (Open!!!)
As unnoticed as ever, Karrody is walking through the caffeteria, though not with any tray of food, or an empty one. He seems to have recently come from the a table where he left a few students, some of them apparently shaken.
As he walks by the table that Evan and V occupy, Karrody can see the boy choking. Normally he wouldn't care about the fact that somebody is choking. But being the only person standing and near him quite a few eyes have turned to him.
In such, Karrody stops behind the boy and with an open hand, smacks Evans back. More then enough to sting, maybe even enough to hurt a little. Nomatter though, the purpose is understood as the food inside his throat becomes dislodged.

Evan's face purples as he chokes and hacks on the piece of food, and V's expression is, if fleetingly, a thing eloquent of distress. Her eyes widen (wait until you see the whites, boys, then -- ) and she stands.
"Evan - " But doesn't intend to waste any more time on words.
Instead, V makes a motion as if to move around the table -- purposeful. The students, most of them useless, now, in the face of what could be a real emergency (and not everybody has the will to make choices, so much easier to stand by and do nothing), stare and ask: Is that guy choking? Do you think he'll have to go to the nurse? What's he eating?
The pale tracery of threads might stop her, shining as they do, sticky as cobwebs. She fails to touch them, or they fail to touch her, but V doesn't notice that; she just notices their presence.
And then Karrody smacks on Evan's back, and dislodges the piece of food. It plops, with a wet slurch, right into V's food.
"Karrody. Thank you. Are you okay, Evan?"
Okay, so maybe she's still a little distressed, although ... No, no, in control of herself, again ... Yes.

"Yeah......I guess......"
Evan was breathing deeply and in a panicked fashion. His hands and loosened their grip on the table's edge and he was beginning to calm down a little. What had just happened? Obviously he had choked, but how? That tug that he felt on his chest, what was it? His eyes then centered on V. She had been fiddling around with her hands quite a bit before he started to choke. Was she the one who caused this little scene? If so, for what purpose did it serve? He had to know...
"Did you just try and kill me!?" he said with a bit of an exasperated tone.

A pair of lace-clad arms wrapped around V's shoulders. Her appearence was silent and being that she already ate, she wasn't too hungry. One could only wonder why she had wandered into the cafeteria in the first place. The goth-loli angel was all smiles today, maybe because she haven't faced her usual problems...or she maybe finally slept peacefully for the first time in weeks. Whatever had occured, she felt wonderful!
"Good afternoon V! The tea has been replenished, just got them fresh today too." Amber says so cheerfully while huggling her best friend, and having no idea what had just taken place. The winged girl glanced up at Karrody and the unfamiliar young man moment before her manners registered.
"Hello Karrody and...ah..." The girl drew a blank with his name. Come to think of it she had seen the unfamiliar one before, but for just a brief moment. The day of Dango's arrival, he was the one on rollerblades.
Re: See No Evil (Open!!!)
As the group returns from the moment of reality that was Evan choking, they speak in turn. In such an order Karrody addresses them.
"V." Is simply all Karrody says, with a polite incline of his head.
After hearing Evans words, then noticing Amber as she walks up Karrody turns to the girl as he speaks to Evan. "I assure you. If she were going to kill you, there wouldn't be much try in it." He responds in a flat, nearly emotionless tone.
In the same breath he spoke to Evan, Karrody greets Amber."Good day miss Amber."
And just like that, Karrody begins to walk away from the group.

Those eyes, honey and the edge of a candle's flame, that kind of gold, are wider than normal. The pupil's opaque. She didn't try to kill Evan. She didn't. Amber's lacy arms encircle the pale, poised girl; and Amber can feel the tension singing through V's shoulders, almost invisible, but not quite, not quite.
I assure you. If she were going to kill you, there wouldn't be much try in it, Karrody says, and V's brows draw together in consternation; she gives him a sidelong glance. What did he mean by that?
"I really don't feel well. I think I will go back to my room."
What she doesn't say: Away from people. Away from these threads. Away, away. Away, in privacy, to figure this out. What she wants: Her uncle Michael, her mother. But she won't call Michael, and her mother is dead.
Maybe she'll go see the principal.
Maybe she won't.
Maybe she's just going crazy.
Re: See No Evil (Open!!!)
As Karrody begins walking away from the group, he hears V's words that she is thinking of returning to her room. Being he is himself on the way to his room he stops and looks to V. "If you would like, I could accompany you, as I am going the same direction." Karrody offers in his accented English to V. "I would not mind having a chance to share a few words with you in the process."

"Eh?"
Amber cheerfulness immediately melted away and she released her laced arms from V's shoulders. She had hoped to get away from Sakura's presence for a while, forget certain things, certain people. Something wasn't right and it gnawed away at the winged girl. Was her friend sick or had something happened? Or it was possible that she was worrying too much over it. Instead gentle words came from her mouth, opposite of her thoughts:
"Ah, all right V..."
Karrody made a suggestion to accompany V. By then Amber murmered a gentle "feel better please" and turning to make a quick exit. Where was she going, she didn't say, but definetly somewhere away. Edited by: sugoi sake at: 8/15/06 1:28 am
