Setting - REALMS - Orthos Library
Name - Orthos Library -

REALMS World Bible

Locale
Found on the main Planet ( Realm ) Tir'Knar' Torrick, named after the Town itself, this building sits upon the foundation stones of the first Palace of Allura's Choosen. The town it resides in, Tir'Knar' Torrick, was the first city of dragons.

This town is fairly large and sprawling, and the library is found at the edge of it along the main roadway. It sits near the border to the Wildlands, and acts as a type of gateway into and out of the town.

The Ville, Merre Meete, that claims the Library, is one run by the Keeper, Dervinia.

Description

What

The Orthos Library is the single largest Horde of information across all the Kingdom. It contains copies of every written tome ever produced in any of the Realms. There are two tomes from the "Hinderlands", Realms not connected to the Main Realm Gateways. Some say the Hinderlands are the worlds where the dragon first came from, others say they are Realms ruled by the dragons, but sealed off from the rest of the Realms. The Council only knows the truth.

Many of the shelves and cases also contain crystal tomes. These are balls, crystals, slates or slabs that have been magically affected to collect and stores information. Some are dream-triggering, others form images that float in or above the tome that act as storytellers. Some even "speak" in the mind or related the information in a way not totally understood. These are safe guarded with the highest security, as the magics that once created these have been mostly lost over the many draconic generations. Its is said that the Empherals once knew how, but since the Wars they have taken their knowledge with them to the graves.

It is a central meeting spot for many in the town who can read. It is also where the town Council meet to discuss the weekly business. It is here that newly arrived "Outsiders" come to be taught about the Realms.

Looks:

The entire buidling gleams white with a slightly green tinge. Its green veined marble surface is cleaned every eveing and morning by both Dragon and People who volunteer their time to do so. There are also teams of convicts who come here to clean the highest of the towers and the most grundgy of the crevices which are un-reachable by the regular work force.

The Royal House of that Cycle has a place on the center tower to hang its banner standard, from where one can see many miles in all directions. Each of the four corners of this massive building sits a Guardian, each slightly different from the next. You can feel the protective barriers here, and the eyes of the Guardians on you at all times.

When you walk in, you see rows upon rows of walkways, landing bases, dragon-sized pillow covered couches, small sitting desk and soft chairs for the smaller People.

The building towers many levels, and each level has a landing space accessed from the outside by those dragons who can fly. Each level is like the main floor with walk-space, couches, desks and chairs of all sizes.

Right in front of you is the Librarian Keeper's main Servent Loris sitting at the main desk. She is a soft-featured half-morph, with hair as dark as ebony, and eyes as green as a summer forrest's trees. Her animal features are not as pronounced as some half-morphs, but when she smiles her feline teeth are very sharp looking.

Important NPCs:

Loris: She give no crap and takes no crap and is as direct as a thorn to the rear. She's polite when she has to be, but other then that she knows what her job is and it is NOT to baby sit Newcomers. She runs teh place when her Master, the Library Keeper, is out on other business.

Library Keeper Dervinia: She is a dragon of the High Reaches Clan. Her feathered form is a brillant green-yellow, with no bars or other markings. Her head crest is made of long thin 'display' feathers which rise up when she is iritated. She has a duty to uphold and takes it very seriously, though she is alot more personable then her assiatant, Loris. Polite, firm, caring more about her treasures here then some of the others who work here. ;)

Notes:

NPC's can be used as player character see fit, as long as they stay to the personality archetypes. Both the NPC Keeper's are mated. so try as you may to hit on them, it won't get you anywhere, though Dervinia may indulge in it, cause she likes attention.

No fighting is permitted anywhere near the Library let alone inside of it. Such a action will get you "Toasted" or worse. Verbal arguement are allowable, as long as the volume level is kept to a minimum.

This page is subject to random updataing, so check back every now and again. ;)
