Shifting Realities (open)
It was a beautiful day outside. The sun was shining high in the sky, its light cast down over the entire campus, and not a cloud was in the sky to keep it from doing so. The air that hung over the school was crisp and chilly; the temperature was to be expected for the time of year, as winter was going to be nearing it's end soon, bringing spring to begin the cycle of seasons anew.

The day was perfect.....

And then, all across campus, something strange happened. It was impossible for one to put a finger on what, exactly; but it was strange indeed, similar to what one would imagine feeling if the space around them had somehow shifted. Yet after the moment had passed, nothing seemed different, other than the odd feeling that it left in its wake. What was this strange occurence?

Somewhere deep in the forest seemed to be the center of the commotion. Hidden from prying eyes by the canopy of leaves above and the thickness of the trees all around, a crackling electric light could be seen.....that is, if anyone had been there to see it. Unfortunately, before anyone could catch the act that happened, the instigator had disappeared, his shadow slipping into the trees, where no one would find him....

Was he really gone....? And what had he done....?

Far away, at the edge of the lake, a boy and a girl had just bumped into each other after the occurence. As Knives felt the pressure on his back of a person, he quickly spun around, lowering his eyes to see the poor girl fall down. Saori squealed as she fell, her long, thick green hair waving wildly through the air before she landed on her rear. She glanced up at the dog boy above her, and squeaked in fright, immediately pulling her knees to her chest and covering her face with her hands, as if that would hide her from the embarrassment. She was so afraid he was going to be mad at her for bumping into him....or worse, he would tease her for falling!!

But he did neither. Knives only gave her a big, friendly grin, as he reached down and took her hand without hesitation. He didn't even wait for her to pull herself up; he did it for her, lifting her to her feet like she was a feather. As his deep blue eyes looked down at her, seeing she was still covering her face, he chuckled a bit, and then patted her on the head gently.

"Poor girl! I'm sorry bout that, I can be clumsy sometimes." He gave her a shrug, then looked around. "Now, what do ya think that was that just happened?"

She shook her head slightly to let him know she hadn't a clue, and he chuckled again. Then, his eyes lit up: this was an opportune moment for adventure! The usual big goofy grin crossed the dog boy's face, as he gave the girl before him a look of excitement. He took her hand, and began moving backwards, towards the forest, where the occurrence had begun, tugging at her hand to pull her along as well.

"Come on! Let's go see what it was!"

C'est la vie

Carpe Diem

Two phrases you'd hope wouldn't be carried in the same thought. That's life seems so laid back, carefree (not to be confused with careless, which is an entirely different animal), even lazy, if perceived in the correct light. Seize the day is more of a vicious, cut throat, take it all kind of expression.

The first, while a longer expression, ran through the mind of a significantly smaller vessel. Sir Artemis Howell, wearing his little Sherlock Holmes style hat and his green collar and matching leash, was walking through the forest. If you asked him, he was taking his human out for a walk. Exercise does a body good, and having short legs like him, exercise was always an adventure.

More prominent statement, larger, more prominent person. Darrien was, as usual, dressed to kill. Khaki cargo pants, white swede shoes, white dress shirt with thin blue stripes, and a leather blazer (collar of the shirt popped over the blazer, he had his style). His hair was kept in a controlled fray, the colors less organized than normal, but still in some sort of order. Ice blue lenses in nickel satin frames, a new finish on an old look.

The happy couple (yes, happy couple, don't scrutinize, it makes sense o.o) was well into the forest when they noticed another intriguing pair. Strange though, the other group seemed to be an inverse of their own. The bigger one had features that most resembled Arty's, the smaller, color that matched Darrien. They were exchanging a conversation about something that had evidently excited the larger one, who was now clearly male, as these two saw now.

Arty noticed first, then Darrien soon after his yelp, that the smaller one was a familiar face. When they were close enough, Darrien reached his hand out toward the only person there with a 'Y' chromosome.

"Heya Whisper, who's yer friend?"

Re: Shifting Realities (open)
Hmm… a pretty nice day for winter.

The rustling of grass could only mean one thing; it was being crushed underneath someone’s foot as they walked over it. The perpetrator was a black boot. That black boot belonged to one blonde freshman, the self-proclaimed “human weapon,” Devlin Fragston. He was playing around with himself, the steel blade extending out from his palm as he made strikes in the chilly air. He was obviously pretending to be hacking through something. As the blade streaked across the air in front of him, it made a slight whishing sound. This wasn’t the only sound however; low grunts could be heard from the human being.

In order to prevent the repetition of the same maneuver over and over again, Devlin began mixing it up, moving his feet back and forth, jabbing his arm forwards and backwards, up and down. To someone else Fragston would look like a jackass, but Fragston felt like he was practicing fencing against an unknown opponent. Of course, fencing wasn’t his only way of screwing around. Soon, he was blending elegant strokes from his fencing technique with aggressive striking techniques from swordplay.

All of this motion from the Manga High School student ended when he felt something come over him. He wasn’t sure exactly what he felt, but his head naturally turned towards the Forest of Itami. He had heard some strange stories about what people encountered in the woods; maybe some monster had revealed itself and frightened everything in the forest. Feeling that this would be his chance to experience something out of the ordinary, the young man began his trek towards the forest.

The seemingly implanted sword slowly contracted into his forearm, Fragston’s mind gradually moving away from his “practice” and onto his target. Soon, he was at the base of the woods. He noticed nothing out of the ordinary, but as he got closer to the forest, a strange feeling of impending doom streaked through his mind. Perhaps he shouldn’t enter the forest by himself. That’s when he noticed there was another human around.

Fragston head turned to look toward another boy with a small dachund. The kid seemed to be the same age as Devlin, and so he drew the conclusion that he was worth asking. Perhaps the student and his dog would be willing to enter the forest with him. He turned a little bit and began walking towards the two, not noticing that two other students had turned up as well.
