June 1st - June 19th
It's almost summer! The last few weeks of school have come, and students will need to study hard for their final exams! Don't let up yet, or your grades won't be what you want them to. Of course, the weather is almost perfect and pristine, in attempts to lure students away from their studies.
Shopping as an excuse for going out [02.05.09] Iso: Ginny
Luna sat on a bench just inside the town of Hogsmeade, humming absently to herself as she twirled her wand between her fingers, her long blonde hair dancing around her face in the breeze. Well, she wasn’t so much sitting on the bench, as sitting on the back of the bench, her feet planted on the seat, toes tapping along with her humming.
She was in a good mood this evening, watching the nearby sun begin to set…she wasn’t exactly sure why, but it just seemed…pleasant. The day had gone by well enough, and now she was going to meet Ginny and shop and most likely eat. It was a nice enough end to a nice enough day. Unless something went horribly wrong…which she wasn’t going to dwell on.
She’d kept in touch with Ginny, over the years…more so than most of the other people she’d known at Hogwarts, anyway. But she’d still been quite surprised when the youngest Weasley had shown up to teach at Hogwarts. Then again, Luna herself was there…and who would have seen that coming?
Not that any of it mattered. It was just going to be nice to hang out with an old friend again, do the whole ‘catching up’ thing that was so common for people her age. Lose touch with old friends for years…go out drinking with them. Er…’shopping’…as it were.
She’d dressed comfortably, abandoning her robes in favor of a long, dark blue skirt and a light blue sweater, held underneath the battered old jacket she always wore. She wasn’t certain when she had lost interest in wizard fashion…sometime shortly after high school, no doubt. Muggle clothing, as a whole, was just more…comfortable.
She spun her wand lightly around her finger, ignoring the occasional look she got from a passer-by for such a ‘disrespectful’ thing. Luna never really saw her wand as anything more than a tool…she would never break it, of course…not intentionally…but it was still simply a tool. A means to get at the real magic, not the magic itself. She thought people put far too much reverence into Wands.
Caught deftly between her fingers, the wand was slid back up the sleeve of her coat and tucked into the small pocket she’d sewn there ages ago. It was far easier to keep a wand there than in a side pocket…and much easier to get out, as well. No one expected your wand to just slide into your hand, after all.
And while she was reporting for her father, having ready access to her wand had been necessary on…a number of occasions. There were probably still people smarting from some of her charms.
She had been a few minutes early, to give herself time to really take in the small village again…she’d only stopped by once or twice since she’d started teaching, and then only to pick up small things. She hadn’t really visited recently.
Now if Ginny would just be on time so that she could.

[ooc: My apologies about the delay! I made sure that you got the first post when I signed on today though if that counts for anything!]
Merlin. That broom was GORGEOUS. Ginny found herself rendered back to her first year, filled with the excitement and thrill of magic and just being able to utilise it in whatever manner she wished. Well, just as long as it was on Hogwarts grounds, during class, and didn't hurt anyone. But now, here she was at the Quality Quidditch Supplies Hogsmeade location, her hands and face pressed to the glass in an almost mirror image of her former self. The simple fact of it was, however, that they didn't make brooms like that when Ginny was at school, let alone playing Quidditch. It was so sleek and aerodynamic. Like it could just slip through the air with absolutely no wind resistance or tension. And the twigs... She had never seen such a nice bundle of twigs in the tail of a broom. They were all exactly the same length, save for the cutting to form a point toward the middle of the bundle, and covered in gloss and sheen. Etched into the handle and filled in with gold was the name Velocity500. Now this, this was a fine specimen.
As Ginny stood staring in longing and awe, fogging up the window as she went, she wondered what it would be like to be in the designing line of such pieces of magical magnificance. She would have to look into something like that. Hopefully people that designed broomsticks didn't care much if people were black listed by the Minister of Magic. But it was a completely different branch of magic, so maybe they had never even heard of her! She would jump for joy if that were to ever happen.
Giving it one last longing glance, Ginny forced herself to unstick her face from the glass. Luna was waiting for her, and it was rude to be late. Ginny had wasted a good five minutes just staring at that bloody broomstick, and no more time could be spared. In fact, she needed to hurry or she was going to be extremely late! Now that she had removed herself from the glass, she gave it a quick look, and then turned and immersed herself into the bustling crowd of the Hogsmeade streets, trying to weave her way through so she could move faster than the general traffic. It was difficult, and she stepped on a few feet, but those two things were never an issue that Ginny worried about doing very often. Stepping on feet was apparently what she did well. And difficulty, well, difficult was in the eye of the beholder. Just as many other things in life were.
She began to scan the crowd for the familiar face that would be Luna Lovegood. They had agreed to meet in this general area to chat, catch up, shop, perhaps get a drink or a bite to eat later, whatever really suited their fancy. They hadn't had much interaction other than the occasional letter that they sent back and forth to keep in touch with one another, so they would certainly have a lot to talk about to occupy their afternoon.
And suddenly, there she was. Sitting on a bench, watching people as they went by. Yes, that was Luna. Taking everyone in. A smile came across Ginny's face, and she made one final push to get herself out of the current, getting tossed out right next to Luna's bench. "Sorry I'm late," Ginny said with an apologetic smile. "Got caught up at Quality Quidditch Supplies. There's a new broom make...it's amazing." Ginny stopped herself from going off on a rant about the broom. It wasn't just amazing, it was bloody brilliant! "So...where to first?" She asked, giving Luna the first choice.

Luna was watching a pair of young would-be wizards attempting to make a one of the thousand Weasley products do what it claimed it would, as opposed to what it would actually do when she decided that she enjoyed being a teacher. She knew it was a strange and random decision, but still, it worked. Seeing as she knew the twins, their would-be terror was completely impossible around her…she knew it was coming, after all, and could identify most of their products on sight.
A side effect, perhaps, of having worked in a newspaper office with a bunch of practical jokers.
She was about to go up and attempt to assist when Ginny suddenly tossed herself down on the bench next to her, seemingly being hurled out by the crowd, and the blonde offered her friend a smile. . "Sorry I'm late," Ginny said with an apologetic smile. "Got caught up at Quality Quidditch Supplies. There's a new broom make...it's amazing."
“No worries,” Luna couldn’t help but laugh at her friend, still obsessed with brooms and Quiddich…Luna had never quite gotten into all of those things, despite the obvious pull. She enjoyed watching a game from time to time, but she’d be hard pressed to name any players. Well, players who were not involved in scandal. Scandal sold papers, after all.
"So...where to first?"
“I was going to suggest shopping…I saw this book in a window that I think I would like to look at…However, I believe I am now hungry.” She shrugged her shoulders. “If there is something you would rather do first, though, that’s fine. I am just glad to be out of the castle.” She hopped off the bench and stretched her arms behind her back before she spun around on her left heel to face the other girl. “Honestly, though, I don’t care. We do need to talk, though.” Blue eyes sparkled. “It has been far too long, and I need to know what has been happening with you.”
