Signs of Recovery
So many people think recovery is simply a matter of putting on weight. Once you no longer look weird, then you must be better right? But while weight restoration can be the final hurdle for many, it is also possible that the battle in the mind can rage for months, if not years, after a healthy weight has been achieved.
So please dont assume that the person FEELS ok just because they LOOK ok!!
Recovery can involve personal discovery, re-learning, challenges, achievements and setbacks. For many people it is just the beginning of a life long process of being more aware of who they are and what is important to them. Often people wont go back to being there old selves, because recovery is a positive learning experience resulting in significant personal growth.
Recovery can be an inconsistent and frustrating process. A desire to get a life back can be matched by a terror of regaining weight and a sense of emptiness.
