Silly question
Just out of curiosity, but does anyone play AD&D online? I dunno if it'd be concievable, or even worth it, but I'd love to get into it, yet I know of no one in my group of friends who'd even bother feigning interest. So, I figured I'd take a look online. Maybe done with a chat client or some such? It probably wouldn't be as fun as sitting around a table in real life, but still..

Re: Silly question
In the past I have played D&D in chat rooms, and via email. They have their merits as well as their flaws. (Waiting for a chronically late player to respond to email for example). Still... nothing beats handling the dice imo.
Re: Silly question
Edgie, if you're willing to play within the confines RPGA (so starting your character at level 1, keeping track of experience and loot on log sheets, and playing self contained mods that last between 4-8 hours), there's a very robust online gaming community. The last online convention I played, which focused exclusively on Living Arcanis, ran just under 50 tables over a 2 week period. There are also almost continuous pickup games of Arcanis, Living Greyhawk, and Living Force.
Most mods take place in AIM chatrooms, and 4-hour convention length mods typically take about 6 hours to play online, which is most often split over 2 3 hour sessions.
