June 1st - June 19th
It's almost summer! The last few weeks of school have come, and students will need to study hard for their final exams! Don't let up yet, or your grades won't be what you want them to. Of course, the weather is almost perfect and pristine, in attempts to lure students away from their studies.

ooc: first post in a while..eek! Scared!.....probably why it's long
Slowly Spring was reaching Hogwarts at last. Winter still seemed to want to cling onto the grounds but Spring was giving it a tough match. Everyday now sunlight could be seen reaching through the fading dark clouds that had been hovering over the castle for what felt like ages. The inbetween season where Spring would fight with Winter was not a very pretty time but now it looked as though Spring would win in the end, just as it always did.
Flowers were starting to appear all around the grounds, birds could be heard chirping and the sun was no longer vacant from the students lives. Grass was seen now and the snow and mud were slowly all but vanished completely. This was a great time of the year. The grounds were beautiful, school was almost out and students just became happier. Spring, in a way, meant that a new beginning would be starting.
However, there appeared to be one storm cloud still lingering on in the form of a seventh year Hufflepuff. Sean wished that it were so, he wished deeply for a new beginning and that he too could enjoy the new season along with his peers. But Sean knew that it would be a while before he enjoyed and embraced it. Although the new season arrived Sean stilled remained trapt in the memories of the old one, wracked with the pains of the end of his and Lynn's relationship.
Since the couple had broken up Sean was not himself. Normally the young man was quite cheerfull. He was the type that allowed nothing to get to him and if it did he would never show it. That Sean was all but gone, instead he had been replaced by someone as gloomy as the weather that had been left behind with Winter.
Countless nights now Sean was getting barely any sleep. He couldn't believe that he and Lynn were over, how could it be when he loved her so much. Sean had tried to cheer himself up, the break up had been weeks ago. The prefect could be seen meandering about the castle, moping on and on as he fulfilled his Prefect duties, studying, did homework, and stayed in his dormatory.
Today Sean was trying to brighten up by taking a walk outside after classes. It was one of the better days for his mood and it was glorious outside. Alot of students were out and about but Sean didn't join in their fun, instead he walked with his hands in the pocket of his tan shorts and went to find a secluded place by the lake.
As it wasn't extremely warm out Sean still wore a long sleeved, yellow, shirt with a baby blue shirt over it. When he walked he avoided contact with his fellow peers, alot of them still remembered the very public break up. As Sean reached the lake he found a spot were there was a tree that provided adequate shade. Leaning against the tree Sean closed his eyes as a breeze flooded his body from the lake.
After a moment or too the young man opened his eyes once more and just stared up at the tree branches. The tree had a fair amount of leaves on it and light could be seem streaming throug them as he looked up. Turning his gaze to out across the lake memories flooded back to him of when he had skated once on this lake with Lynn, but he tried to shake the image from him.
Looking down slightly he took off his baby blue hat and readjusted it, pushing the bill slightly over his eyes more. He then scuffled about the shoreline and found a couple of good tossing stones. Jiggling a stone in his palm he looked down at it before tossing it. He watched it slice across the lake, skipping the water three times.
He did this a couple more times, putting all his energy and focus into it because if he didn't his thoughts would most certainly stray to what he cared not to think about. Sean was sick of those thoughts and just wanted to move from them. Sean's attention was so averted to the simple task of skipping rocks that he hardly noticed he was not alone.
Most students crowded around the lake around lunchtime, but Ella Whittleby found that she enjoyed taking strolls near that area shortly after dinner, just as the sun had set. It was quite relaxing, actually, to dip her toes in the nearly black water and let the cool moisture overcome her stresses. She hadn't been able to come down very much as of late (as the lake had nearly been frozen during the winter), but the weather was just warm enough tonight that she was at last able to continue her spring routine.
She had eaten a lovely dinner, with three servings of Hogwarts' best mashed potatoes. It was quite wonderful, actually. But she hadn't felt like listening to her housemates ramble on about their grades, so she'd left to spend some time by herself for a while. Or, so she thought, anyway.
Ella was posed on a flat rock only slightly above the lake's glassy surface, with her knees pulled to her chin in a girlish position. In her left hand, she held an open book entitled 'The Chaos Theory.' It always interested her to think that there were still things that even wizards and witches had yet to find out about their surroundings. Every so often she allowed her right foot to dangle just high enough above the water so that only her toes would touch, but she pulled away each time after a few moments.
She had most certainly had an odd year to start off. An odd life, for that matter. Ella had yet to find a true best friend, let alone that boy that she'd been yearning to find for years on end. Yeah, she'd had a few flames, but they had taken far too much work to uphold. Alex Worth, most certainly, was one of them. She supposed it was just difficult, with those of the opposite gender.
Not to say that Ella enjoyed female company more; why, it was quite the opposite. Girls annoyed her more than anything else, for it seemed as though they loved to create unnecessary drama more than anything else. It was just bothersome, really. She'd always tried to avoid that path of direction in her life.
Tucking a lock of dull brown hair behind her ear, Ella blinked and stared off at the water, wondering what could possibly be lurking beneath its surface that their world had not yet found out about. Certainly something.
It was only after a few moments that Ella realized that there was another person in her vicinity. A boy, only slightly older than herself if she saw correctly, although she didn't believe that she knew him very well. The boy was skipping rocks across a glossy lake, and she had to stop for a moment to watch him. He was only about fifteen feet away, so she pulled her feet out of the water and, barefoot, walked over to him, her tangled hair flying behind her.
"Hey," she said, blinded as she looked into the sunlight. "Bad day?"
Maybe they had something in common after all.
(Sorry, this was originally a starting thread so I kind of had to tweak it a little.)

Sean you coud say was a nature boy. He had grown up on the grassy hillsides of Scotland, the beaches of Australia and the mountains and woods of New Zealand. It appeared that Sean was born to be outside. He just couldn't help it, being outside made him feel so free and just took all worries away from him.
The seventh year had alot to worry about, especially from this year. He was a Prefect and had a lot of duties he was responsible of because of that. There was his younger sister he was to look after as well, especially since she had been involved in the train wreck that had caused many students nightmares. On top of those two he had his relationship with Lynn to deal with or rather the ending of the relationship. And if all of that weren't enough he was in his final year of schooling and had loads of school work and planning to do for his future.
That was probably why Sean could often be seen meandering about the castle and it's grounds. It was growing beautiful out so Sean tended to allow his walks to lead him across the grounds, especially the lake. Sean was in love with the water. While living in New Zealand and Australia he often hit the beaches or enjoyed a river or two of fun.
Here at Hogwarts the lake was so calm and peaceful to come to, he really could just relax when he was near it. Alot of students liked the lake as well so it was lucky that today Sean was able to find a secluded place. As he skipped the rocks all of his worries seemed to dissapear and to blow away with the breeze that came up from off the lake.
Sean wasn't one to worry alot and if he did no one ever really knew how worried he was. The seventh year Hufflepuff was able to handle stress quite well so nobody ever knew how he really felt about anything that especially taxing. Skipping rocks felt good, it felt cleansing to Sean. It was as though he were allowing all of his troubles to leave him and pass into the stones. Carefully he was able to take those stones and allow them to glide over the serene water, away from him.
"Hey," she said, blinded as she looked into the sunlight. "Bad day?"
He was just about to send another flat stone to skid on the water when he heard the young girls question. Clearly surprised instead of tossing the stone he sent it flying a litter harder than he intended. A water 'plunk' could be heard as the stone drifted down to the lakes bottom.
Giving the girl a lopsided grin Sean released another stone and bended down to pick up his last one. "You could say that" He answered simply. "Bad day, week, month, whatever you like." At these a words Sean turned sidways and flicked one last stone out onto the water's top. He watched it skip several times before he turned back to the girl, Ella was her name as he remembered.
"This seems alot better than being up there at the moment." He told the slightly younger girl as he glanced a moment back up at the school. Sean hoped he didn't sound cynical or bitter...that was more of his sister Mack's thing.
Brushing his palms together he brushed off the dirt that speckled on his hands, from the rocks he had skipped. "Bad day for you? Or do you too just enjoy the seclusion of the lake?" Sean cocked his head slightly sidways, a questiong look on his face as he waited for an answer.
He didn't know Ella too well but that didn't really matter to him. Sean was open and friendly to just about anyone. He was just that way. Sean wasn't one for rudeness or for being a cynic, he was way too polite for anything of the kind.

For being only a sixth year, Ella was rather mature for her age. She didn't engage in the same pitiful activities as many of her less mature peers, and was often annoyed in the girls dormitory as other girls scrambled around her to find their make-up and cutest outfits. Sure, she enjoyed fashion. There was no denying that Ella was most certainly a girl. But they let it consume their lives, which was something that she just did not do. She couldn't. It would be such a joke to her, it would be too difficult to even pretend to be that shallow.
Sometimes, Ella wondered why she hadn't been placed in Ravenclaw. It would have made a lot of sense, apart from her sarcasm. Oh, that girl's sarcasm drove her professors crazy. She had little respect for her teachers anymore. Well, she did, because she understood that they'd been highly educated and were very respectable people... but the way they handled themselves, in Ella's opinion, was just stupid. Trying to fit in with the students and such. But hey, what did she know?
"You could say that. Bad day, week, month, whatever you like."
Ella didn't really know what to say, so she turned her eyes to the water as the boy flicked one last stone across the lake's surface. She'd never been too talented with skipping rocks, but then again, she'd always been one to prefer books or something else in alternative.
"This seems alot better than being up there at the moment."
She smiled, but didn't laugh. "Yeah," she replied simply, looking into the horizon. Her long, dark curls were flying back in the breeze and she made a note to herself to fix the tangles later. She didn't care too much about her appearance, but it really was a hassle when her hair got so incredibly tangled. "It's nice out here."
"Bad day for you? Or do you too just enjoy the seclusion of the lake?"
"I'd say both," Ella replied softly, and that was true. She'd been having a bloody terrible day. Of course, it could have been worse. But she'd just felt so disconnected from everyone lately. So it probably would be described as a bad year or two. She'd had a few good memories in between, things like this. Talking with people was Ella's passion, but she often hid from that. She just wished, in a way, that she could find somebody who understood what she was going through.
It was almost like she was lost.
"I really want to write or something," Ella said with a laugh, as that was completely random. But hey, it was definitely true. "This scenery is absolutely breath-taking."
The truth was, she really found the outdoors to be calming. The feeling of the breeze against her face, the sounds that the wind made as it caressed the trees; almost like an ancient love song. Ella thought like that a lot. "I don't know," she mumbled, looking at the grass and debating whether or not it would make a lovely seat.

Re: Skipping rocks..very therapeutic (3/19) Open
Sean was one that was really into school, all aspects of it really. It was very important to the young man to get good grades, he wanted to work in the ministry after all. He also found it important to be socially involved in school. Just like any other boys in the school he would attend all the quidditch games, he also attended all the dances and trips to Hogsmead. He would have to admit, though, that he had been a little more involved in his New Zealand.
But as much as Sean loved school he suddenly couldn't wait to graduate. School was growing quite monotnous and Sean felt like he was ready for the real world now, or at least some kind of a break. Sure Sean would miss all the pranks that were being pulled, the quidditch game, the trips to Hogsmead and his friends but with time he knew that those would no longer be important to him, or as important, they would just be memories.
Maybe that was why he was growing suddenly distant with everything at Hogwarts. Maybe he was trying to just let go and detatch himself from the place so that it would hurt so much when it was time to leave. But he was excited for a new life. He would finally be able to prove himself in the adult world, something that he had been trying to for years.
"Yeah,It's nice out here." Sean was glad to see that he got a smile out of Ella, he liked to make girls smile, it was his favorite part of them. And he couldn't help but agree with her. With was very nice out today and it really did improve his mood.
"I'd say both,
"Well then this is definantly the right place for you to be" Sean spoke casually to Ella. "This seems like one of the only places that your mind isn't being overloaded." He added as an after thought. At least that was how he felt.
"I really want to write or something," Ella said with a laugh, as that was completely random. But hey, it was definitely true. "This scenery is absolutely breath-taking."
Sean couldn't help but laugh a little with Ella at her comment. It was quite random but still seemed to fit in a way to their conversation. "It certainly is inspiring out here." Sean answered as he put his hands on his hips and took a long sweeping look at his surroundings.
"I don't know,"
Sean heard Ella mumble these words quietly to herself as she stared at the ground. The girl was certainly quite the character. He was surprised he had never really spoken to her before this, she seemed like she was an interesting one.
Following Ella's lead Sean too looked at the ground and decided that he needed a rest from standing. Slowly he lowered himself to the ground, his legs landed sprawled out before him and he held himself up with straight arms; he was leaning back slightly.
A thought then came into his mind. "Were you here before I was, because I don't remember seeing anyone." Sean hoped he wasn't being rude. He didn't want Ella to think that he just mentally didn't "see" her on purpose or anything, that would of been awful.
