Spell Casting Fury for Shadowknights
You guys all know I am working on AA skills, and the only archetype AA I am pushing hard is spell casting fury. Often when I tell someone I am working on SCF, they tell me that's silly since I am a melee and not a caster. Here is my reasoning.

Melee crits are stupid. I trained one level of them but the warriors were right, it's mostly eye candy and although I have never parsed it, I doubt maxing Combat Fury as a non-warrior does virtually any significant improvement to your DPS. I often crit for less then I usually hit for, and not usually more then once a fight, if that. Improved levels of Combat Fury do not scale - your crits do not become any larger, just slightly more often.

On the other hand, Spell Casting Fury scales in 2 ways. There are 3 levels, just like all the other archetype AA's. The first level gives you a 2% chance to land a critical blast on a DD for 133% damage, the second, 4% chance for 166%dmg, the final, 7% chance for a 200% increase in dmg. Now, while a shadowknight doesn't do much nuking, we do cast tons of DD spells - our Vampiric Embrace/Mental Corruption line. The lvl 55 spells, Shroud of Death & Shroud of Undeath both imbue you with a proc that taps 50hp and stacks with whatever other proc your weapon might have. With SCF3, you will proc for 100pt dmg and a 100pt heal. Mental Corruption does 100pts of dmg and gives you 100 mana - with SCF3 it would be a 200pt dd (though not double the mana back, the way the spell is currently set up).

At lvl 59, SK's get Soul Abrasion available as an AA skill. This improved the damage of your tap procs 50, 100, and 150%. That means with no SCF, and maxed SA, your self only tap will be for 200 dmg, 200 health gained.

SCF and SA now stack - so it's possible, now, to have 400pt dmg procs with 400 health given back.

I don't know why i felt compelled to write this little essay, but there you have it :)

Re: Spell Casting Fury for Shadowknights
wow. i had no idea really how spell casting fury worked. all li knew was that it was fun for me to see crits. But i was wondering whether it meant a 7% more chance to crit or a 7% increase in dmg. I'm happy to see it's both! i only have the 4% one right now but i'm going to put more points in it now that i know how it works.

what i cant' wait to see is you get 400hp back with your spells -- that's pretty awesome for a tank.

Re: Spell Casting Fury for Shadowknights
actually... you can get back more then 400hp with spells now. SK's get an AA skill called theft of life that allows you to do critical heals, not only on yourself, but with your whole group using Zevfeers Bite (a spell that procs a small DD and gives some health and mana back to the whole group).

There was a picture on SK.org that is now missing that shows a sk landing a critical blast on a group tap and doing an exceptional heal on his entire group.
