Star War II update (10/28/00)
I've always wanted to be involved with Star Wars, but never thought I would get the chance. I'm glad that I get to play a pivotal role in the new movie. However, George has told me that my character has an even bigger role in Episode 3 when the Republic falls to pieces. It seems that my characters is one of the most important members of what will one day become the Rebel Alliance . . . The most difficult aspect of working on this type of film is all the blue-screen work that goes on. Also, you have to recite lines to characters that aren't even there because the characters will later be added in by the special-effects people." (Source: Jimmy Smits [Bail Organa])
In Episode 2, we will meet a young Jedi Knight named Keelo Bash, who is a @#%$y individual in the same vain as Han Solo. George created this new character to give the new film a raw energy that a character like Han Solo adds to the movie. Some of the best scenes in the movie involve wise cracks made by Keelo Bash. He should prove to be one of the most popular characters of the new film.
We learn in Episode 2 that Jango Fett use to work as a bodyguard for one of the Hutts. Jango decided to become a bounty hunter because working as a bodyguard can become very boring. It seems that Jango wants to get out of bounty hunting, but the deals he makes with characters like Count Dooku force him to continue his work as a bounty hunter. Jango's untimely death is what inspires Boba Fett, Jango's son, to become a bounty hunter.
In Episode 2, Palpatine becomes fed up with trying to use droid armies to accomplish his schemes. Palpatine becomes convinced that a large army of cloned warriors can be created that would be completely loyal to him. He believes that these cloned warriors will be able to successfully wage war against the Jedi. However, Palpatine knows that he will also have to recruit bonty hunters and mercenaries to help the Empire hunt down the Jedi in Episode 3.
"I was never contacted by Lucasfilm so I can only assume that my character won't be returning. My character died and I can live with that. If George doesn't need him anymore for the rest of the series, then I can understand that. I had my time in the sun and now I guess it is time for someone else to enjoy the Star Wars limelight. On Tattooine, Anakin has a brief encounter with a band of Jawas that turns out to be quite humorous. The Jawas have some information which Anakin needs, but they won't give the info to Anakin unless he gives them something in return. The only thing that Anakin has of value is his light sabre so he gives it to them. In a hilarious scene, one of the Jawas ignites the light sabre, falls down and almost slices some of his Jawa friends into pieces.
"Episode 2 is going to be more revolutionary than Episode 1 because we are introducing more digital characters. With Episode 1, we learned a lot of techniques that make it simpler to include synthetic actors into these films. By the time we get to Episode 3, we should be able to do some amazing things. While the battles in the new film are quite large, the battles in Episode 3 will be beyond belief." (Source: George Lucas)
