Student Application
Note: Even though we do not post minimums we expect each section to be lengthy. A good rule of thumb is two paragraphs for Personality and Appearance (though more is better), and two for History based on life before Hogwarts and then 1 for each year at Hogwarts. Do note that we are an Intermediate RP and we will not accept profiles with obvious grammatical errors unless you have a valid reason for bad grammar.

Age: Please don't lie >_> We don't descriminate against age, we just would like to know.
Code: You know what we mean. Any applications without the Code will not be accepted.
IC
Name: What's their full name? Please avoid boring names like Bob Joe or Plain Jane. On the counterpart, nothing TOO eccentric to the point that it's not believeable, but allow your character to have some originality next to all the others. Please note that we won't be accepting two people with the same name to avoid confusion.
Nickname(s): Nicknames?
DOB: Month, Date, Year
Year: What year are they? 1-7
Blood: No we do not mean type A or O, we mean what blood are they. Muggle born, Half blood, or Pureblood. Remember that purebloods are VERY rare and as this is ten years after Sirius made that statement, we are not obligated to accept you if your character is a pureblood, and we may request that you edit them to have mixed blood.
House Preference Which house will they be in? Remember, we will not sort you. Put only one house here.
Why: Why should they be in that house in particular? Do not provide a list as your answer. A nice developed paragraph with at least 3-5 sentences. Feel free to do more, however. We love more.
Physical Appearance: What does your character look like? Please give a detailed description of your character's physical appearance. We need to know detail. Please include a specific height and weight (if you need help with the height to weight ratio, please ask). We would also like you to tell us a bit about their build: are they boxy? Thin? Agile? Muscular? Include detail about their skin tone, eye color, hair color/length. What do they wear when not in uniform? How do they walk? Are they expressive? Again, do not give us a list. Nice pretty paragraphs. ALSO: Please do not describe characters as attractive/pretty/ugly/anything like that! BIG pet peeve. If you want a drop dead gorgeous character, then describe them as beautifully as you can using good descriptive words. Everyone has their own opinion on beauty, so don't force everyone into seeing your character YOUR way. Fill in the details, and allow everyone else to make their characters minds' up about your character.
Personality: What makes your character tick? What sort of person are they? Courageous? Kind? Even-tempered? Hot-tempered? Easy going? Introverted? Social? Deceitful? Witty? Mischievous? Intelligent? Shy? Creative? Give us as much detail as possible. Also include their likes/dislikes/fears and what subjects they are good/bad at. Remember to not contradict yourself. We can't have extroverted loners. Remember to add flaws. The more flaws, the better. If we've got lovely Mary Sue that gets along with everyone, then where will you find conflict? Here at ANDHC, we love IC conflict, and we also love putting our characters through a whole buncha junk. It's fun to watch them writhe and twitch until we finally let them be. Add some flaws and join the angsty bandwagon! Okay, so you don't HAVE to make your characters suffer, but it is fun. And they have to have flaws or you'll be asked to edit some in.
History: This is, arguably, the most important part of your profile. This is where you tell us what made your character the way they are. What was their childhood like? How did they feel about obtaining magical powers? If they were muggle born, what was the experience like? Tell us a little about their stay at Hogwarts, and what their schooling has been like. Feel free to include worst/best subjects, as well as their favorite/least favorite subjects. Don't forget to include any information about obtaining a pet! Include relatives and relationships with relatives in here. Please note that we REQUIRE one paragraph for each year at Hogwarts. Anything with less will be responded to by one of us telling you to add more, so if you're leaning toward not doing a paragraph for each year, just do it the first time. You only get three edits so don't waste one on laziness.
Roleplay Sample: Keep in mind that this is where we get to see your character in action. Yes, with every profile you make, you must make a new RP sample. In this, we do not want to see a lot of dialog, we just want to see how you write your character. If you MUST have another character in the scene, please only one. When you get more, we hear more dialogue from other characters than your own and we can't get a good perception of how you play YOUR character.
Celebrity Avatar: If you are planning on or do have a signiature or icon for your character, please include which celebrity you will or have used. Be sure to check the Celebrity avatar list beforehand. No too characters can look alike, with a possible exception to identical twins. Please only put a name here if you are going to have an avatar or a signature. Don't claim celebrities if you're not going to be making any pictures for your character. If you don't know how to make one yourself, we have several talented graphic artists on the board who I'm sure would take pity on you if you asked very nicely.
REMEMBER: NOTHING in this application should be a list. We want full, well developed paragraphs. The more descriptive you are, the better, and the more likely you are to get accepted.
