Study of the Spiritual World This is a study on the Spiritual World according to scripture and scripture alone. I pray it comes through without traditional doctrinal teaching so that we may discern the truth and not be caught up in hocus pocus from any sect or society. It is both a difficult article to organize as a written work, and to explain without the aid of illustration, and voice. Please bear with me as I attempt to get the crucial points across. There will be sections to this study because of its length, and that it will be very long with many scriptures. I will do my best to divide up each section. Please do not draw any hard line conclusions until the entire document has been compiled online. FOUNDATION: Definitions according to original word SPIRITS Ruwach( Hebrew) • wind, breath, mind, spirit • spirit (as that which breathes quickly in animation or agitation) • spirit (of the living, breathing being in man and animals) • spirit (as seat of emotion) Spirit according to the Scriptural defination of the word and its use does not speak of a higher entity or being. It is speaking of that which has been made in the likeness of God. All of its conitations refer to the mind, that which has energy or life, and that regards emotions or the heart of the emotion. It is very close to what we could call an attitude or a perception. Demons/Devils Spirits are not demons. They are not classed in the scripture as the exact same substance. Demons/Devils: the divine power, deity, divinity, superior to men First Foundational Premise Has Been Laid Now that we understand there is a difference between the two. We will move into a study called Familar Spirits. We are going to understand what exactly they are, and how they function.

Familar Spirits Familiar Spirits Part One The purpose of this study is to engage us in the gift of discernment and to study out God’s word on the matter. We have been taught a lot about these subjects. The purpose is not to judge those teachings as false, but to discern through study what is Truth and what has been our flawed understanding. It is for our edification, correction and reproval. We must renew our minds to the Word of God and the intent to which is was recorded by our forefathers in faith. It may also help us to answer some of those questions we all have about those who have passed on etc. Before Christ came and dwelled among us, there were three accepted ways that God spoke to man. These were by dreams, urim and prophets. This is where King Saul ran into trouble because God was no longer speaking to him through these means so he went to look for the Witch who could call up Samuel, the prophet. It was almost like he was going around a perceived loop hole. He wanted to talk to a prophet, but he was passed on, so he got a séance lady to call up the prophet. Look at the scripture closely because here is the key to what we find out about the language wherein it was recorded. The language directs our conception of the matter. 1 Samuel 28:6-8 6And when Saul enquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets. 7Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor. 8And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee. This word “hath” means 1.        mistress, female owner 2.        sorceress, necromancer (noun of relationship) * However in my very old translated bible which I studied this from, it says with rather than hath which changes the context greatly. We’ll discuss those findings a little later So now we know her relationship to the familiar spirit. What IS the familiar spirit? She owns it. What is it? To be continued

Familar Spirits Part 2 Familiar Spirits Part 2 In Part 1 we were left with a question, what are familiar spirits? We know they had a relationship to the witch of Endor. We can’t discern only by one scripture, we have to look at the entire context 1Sa 28:8 And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee. 1Sa 28:10 And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing. 1Sa 28:11 Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel. 1Sa 28:12 And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul. 1Sa 28:13 And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth. 1Sa 28:14 And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself. 1Sa 28:15 And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up ? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do. 1Sa 28:16 Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy? 1Sa 28:17 And the LORD hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the LORD hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour, even to David: What does that mean in our modern day language and understanding to “ divine unto me BY the familiar spirit”. Divine Means: to distribute                 Determine by lot or magic scroll*                 Prudent soothsayer                 Wizard: a knowing one, a ghost We know devils are deceptive, but the Word of God is NOT. If this was not Samuel, the scripture would have made it clear that it was a deception. It does not. It continues to call Samuel, by his name. Saul broke the law of God. He went to someone who was friends with the spirit world and asked for Samuel to be brought up. The woman screamed because she seen “ gods” or demons, beings superior to men. It is possible she also screamed because she realized who Saul was and that her life was in danger. He used to kill people like her under the law of God. •        She cried in a loud voice CRIED: to shriek from anquish or danger         To announce or convene publically         To assemble together •        Saul asked her what she saw. She tells him she “ saw gods coming up out of the earth”. GODS: supreme beings ( and note from our other study: Demons/Devils: the divine power, deity, divinity, superior to men) •        He asks her what he looks like or what form he is in . She tells him an old man covered with a mantle. Saul perceived it was Samuel. It is obvious SAUL couldn’t see Samuel. He had to go by the description that she gave him. PERCEIVED: to know, be assured, observe, recognize •        Samuel addresses Saul Why have you DISQUIETED me to bring me up? ( call out-address by name) •        After Samuel tells Saul once against things he told him while alive, he says Saul and his sons will “ be with me”, meaning they would lose their life. Going Deeper into the Meaning and Use of Familiar Spirit The Lexical aid for # 3049 says these were ones with special knowledge of their craft or skill in which they would not share with commoners. God forbid that they be consulted. Isaiah denounced them. If rebellion is as to witchcraft then consulting these is disobeying God’s instruction. Why? Most likely it is because it can be done! It is legitimate and real. Samuel was called forth from God’s promised rest. But the issue it would seem from God’s end is that , prophecy or God’s will, is of no private interpretation. These ones didn’t share their secret knowledge. These ones were did it for “pay” and kept their secret knowledge hidden so that others must pay them to get privelaged knowledge 1 it was done in elitism 2 their hearts were far from God and obedience to God’s instruction 3 they were acting or usurping God’s authority because they were judged by the law. Yiddonly: Hebrew adj Knowing Sorceror Magician Wizard Prophesying Spirit Fortune Teller Familiar Spirit This special knowledge wasn’t shared with commoners. ( word is counterpart to owb[178]) The word comes from Yada (3045) which means: To perceive To understand To acquire knowledge To know To discern To be acquainted with To appear To cause to know To make oneself known To be familiar To be aware of To inform To announce To reveal oneself To appoint To order It occurs 944 times Knowledge fained through the senses. Yada descrines God’s knowledge of man. It also is used for man’s knowledge and for that of animals. One must be able to distringursh Yada between right and wrong. FAMILIAR SPIRITS ( Owb) 16 occurences of this word It is necromancy, a spirit of divination, and a CONJURING GHOST (notice it didn't say conjuring up a ghost, but rather a ghost that conjures up) Necromancy/Sorceror: One who calls up spirits from the abuss to foretell future events Other Hebrew words for diviners Itti from atam (331 Anan 6049 to act covertly Ashshaph 825- astrologer, necromancer, sorcerer ( allin in Daniel) Chartom 2748- a tool for engraving used by magicians Kashshaph 3786- one who whispers magic spells, incatnations *Hachash 5122- to hiss , to wshiper, to take as an omen, to give oracles, to foretell, to prognosticate, to learn by experience, to diligently observe, divide, draw lots, conjure up the dead. Qacam 7080 Ba alah 1172 mistress of a familiar spirit ( 1 Sam28:7) •        pagan parallel to biblical prophesying. An attempt to learn the will of the gods in order to manipulate the circumstances. Conversing with demons •        True prophets submit to God’s sovereignty •        The false prophet does not- Balaam was a false prophet because his motive for fain was too strong, even though he recognized God’s soverienty.
