The color that had been in Joseph's face completely drained. "Carolyn!" Joseph called urgently. An old headmistress jumped in her portrait, for she had been sleeping. She rubbed her eyes.
"Yes, Professor?" she asked sleepily.
"This is urgent, Carrie. Get word to the teachers that Maudsley is on the Grounds. Have them make sure the students get to their dormitories and then secure the castle."
Carolyn, who was now wide-eyed, made no argument. She immediately left her portrait.
"She has another portrait in Mary's office. I only hope she's there."
Joseph withdrew his wand. With a quick nod to Pillkid, he said, "Lead the way."
