Suggestions for covenant charter
So far ...

"When the alarm is sounded, everybody fights"

... any other suggestions? (one each to start?)

edit: any suggestions from Mike or Si? Or shall I let the other two make a second suggestion?

Re: Suggestions for covenant charter
A full council will meet once a year on the winter solstice to discuss all matters concerning the covenant. Following this the Aegis of the Hearth shall be cast for the forthcoming year.

A suggestion:

A Magus' secrets are his own. Council shall make no rulings that breach a Magus' privacy unless it believes that there is a clear and direct threat to the safety of the covenant. Should such a threat not materialise in practice, each Magus who voted in favour of the motion to compel disclosure shall compensate the wonged Magus with five pawns of vis, to be paid within three years.

Re: Suggestions for covenant charter
Suggestion:

A Magus is able to bestow the title of Socius (Latin for Companion) to a member of the covenant.
The charter stipulates that a person with the status Socius is not governed like grogs or other covenfolk, but is under the personal direction of the Magus. The charter also forbids the Socius to be the target of molestation or harm by spell, action or inaction by any members of the covenant.

Re: Suggestions for covenant charter
Here's a first draft of a charter - any comments or further suggestions.

The Charter of Vida’s Tear
The undersigned are recognised as sworn to the Covenant of Vida’s Tear and hold a vote at the yearly council.

Rights held under this charter.
Council shall make no rulings that deny a Magus his rights unless it believes that there is a clear and direct threat to the safety of the covenant. Should such a threat not materialise in practice, then any property shall be returned and in addition each Magus who voted in favour of the motion to compel the Magus against his rights shall compensate the wronged Magus with five pawns of vis, to be paid within three years.

A Magus’ arts may be freely exercised.
A Magus' secrets are his own.
A Magus’ property is his own.
A Magus may select a consortis who will be considered the property of that Magus.

Duties held under this charter.
When the alarm is raised, all magi will fight to defend the Covenant.

A full council will meet once a year on the winter solstice to discuss all matters concerning the covenant. At this meeting each magus will be assigned one or more uncontested sources of vis which will be collected for the covenant each year.
Vis from the covenant stores will be reserved for the casting of the Aegis of the Hearth. Those magi who complete one or more full season of service to the covenant shall share the remaining vis between them in proportion to the number of services completed. If disagreement arises the council shall vote to determine whether an activity was a full service.

Following the meeting at the solstice the Aegis of the Hearth shall be cast for the forthcoming year.

A Magus who fails to fulfil these duties, or breaches the rights of another, will be fined 5 pawns of vis to each of the other magi on the council.
