So you're planning on giving WoW a try? Lemme know how you like it. Arno and I are still very undecided about buying it. We still play Eq, but much less so than ever before. I really don't like the thought of getting sucked back into the Time Vortex that games can be. And from what we've heard about WoW, it will be a fun and interesting game to play...which makes it a great candidate for Time Vortexishness. Still, I'm curious to know if it's any good, so be sure to let me know what you think of it.
yea wow is alright... i played the open but closed beta for a weekish. really depends what ur looking for in a game though.
i seriously woulda thought u guys would have tried daoc... its all about pvp! i love it but lack of a decent guild....well not decent...more like constant...put me off. Quin and his bro both played it too but they kinda just quit cold....
Brad came over and played daoc for a bit.. he loved it but he got caught up with his move for new school and crappy comp
Games i tried so far are guildwars and wow. Guildwars i will get... its basically a 3d diablo 2. WoW i will get but depends how the pvp servers are really. Once you done some serious pvp in daoc... pve is just pointless (EQ....wait did i just diss ur game lol woops)
anyway if uz still have my email gimmi a shout =) its still the same! if not im on aim, msn, icq, yahoo...

lol didnt really talk about wow.... well its pretty decent... after lvl 12ish u really need a group to do some of the quests. There are a few annoyances but pretty well made gaame. Casters own the fights! 1on1 casters get owned lol. Most pvp players are coming from daoc... so expect zerg battles (group pvp). Classes are well made... altho mage with range + the nukes just rips sh*t up fast. Quests are based on race and not class, so if u make 2 toons of the same race, the questing gets boring and annoying and tedious cause u have already done em. Gameplay is fast though... battles are slower than d2, but the speed of the battle is like 20 times faster than eq, and even bout 10 times faster than daoc. (yes daoc is nicer to play than eq hehe and only has 2 expansions i htink that u buy... new expansion coming out next month i believe)
Basically if u want a pve game... eq2, or wow. If you want pvp game Daoc or wow. Wow kinda bridges the gap between the two games. But isnt very biased.
For me i will get wow, but im still leaning towards playin daoc. Its just all about the pvp! This coming from a guy that hardly pvp'd in diablo 2!!!

That sounds like Quin ! Last we talked to Brad, he still wasn't sure about gettin into WoW. I think he, like so many people, is relieved to be "free" from gaming for the time being.
ya know, we did try DAoC for a little while, around when it first came out. I really don't remember it too well though. I'm certain that Arno would much prefer a game with PvP as its foundation. That's why he liked D2 so much. But not me. I think PvP brings out the absolute worst in people's personalities! Some of the trash talking that went on in D2 was SO over the line!

Yea the trash talking from d2 lol... in daoc u cant communicate with the enemy realm players...well only through emotes. Ppl are pretty decent on there... only trash talking that happens is on VN boards for the server.
Last i heard brad moved to michigan to start some new program at college. He was playin daoc, but he quit while he was in his move.
PVP in daoc occurs right from lvl 1 now too... its setup in battlegrounds so only certain lvl players can enter a particular battleground. If pvp isnt your thing early on, there is of course the pve lol....
I have a lvl 50 Savage on Merlin server ..my only toon. Didnt wanna get bogged down in the gaming so i only made 1 char. Quin has a bunch on the same server too.. u know quin... he got like 20 lvl 50 toons, all with uber gear.

right,brad not playing. nu uh that beeotch is always saying that i need to get daoc...blah blah blah. he says it's cool and shit but i have no interest in pvp. i get po'ed when i get punked by a PC. anyway, it's bad ass to hear from ya lucean.

Its been a while since I talked to Brad too. The last time I spoke with him I tried to lurer him to WoW with promises of PvP battlegrounds but I'm not sure if it stuck.

What up Fred, Elyse, Tazz, and DH… I know it has been ages since I’ve dropped by to say hi. So HI! Sorry I haven’t stopped by sooner, but I’m lazy and so damn busy. Most days I’m at the hospital from 6am to 9pm, between didactic and clinical work it just seems like all my free time is gone. Currently, I get 1 day off every 14 days (excluding holidays and CTO).
Fred and Elyse: hope you’re getting good use out of Win… lots of wasted err invested hours there at work lol. I’ll have to call soon so we can catch up.
Also want to throw a shout out to my boys: big C (aka nan), Cody and of course Ouze… if I thought I remotely had the time, I might check out WoW with y’all I would, but that shit isn’t gonna fly.
Keep DH strong… next time I snag a min I’ll try to drop by and say hi again.

I agree, Id try to drag Jotu into WOW if you all were gonna be on a PVP server. She hates pvp but Id be alot more interested. I think I would have liked EQ more if we had started on a PVP server. Hell Id put even money on me getting windig to come play if it were on a pvp server. I know the real windig, I miss that cold hearted killing machine!

Good to hear from you Win, I hope the new school things working out well, send me an email sometime when you get the chance just for old times sake.
I voted for the PvP server but lost to the majority. Looking back at it now, I don't know if its a good thing or a bad thing cuz I've been playing Halo 2 PvP (I know its a totally different genre but you'll see why I bring it up) and totally getting owned. I don't know if I just suck at FPS PvP or all PvP, but the thing is I can do pretty well in the normal Halo 2 game (I've played about midway through on Heroic) but when it comes to the PvP side I just get smacked around, so I'm kind of happy we have limited ourselves to just battlegrounds for the time being.

still waiting for the server list to come out, but i will b on the server wherever the majority of the pvp guilds go. So far i read it will be a central pvp server. But will have to wait for names to find a specific one.
PVP in an fps game is different. Group pvp owns. Especially if u ahve a well rounded group. Im gunna be playing a priest... healer class lol... never played healer b4 but think il give it a shot.
Again the pvp just goes back to daoc for me. Not really exposed to any pvp in eq, as it was never intended to b a pvp game...therefore balanced more for pve. WoW kinda bridges the gap between eq and daoc... giving both pve and pvp. A lot of the die hard daoc fans r moving to wow though...so if u join pvp servers...expect a challenge cause some of em r really good.
I actually have 2 videos of my savage in pvp... but my host went down lol... solo pvping light tank hehe.. quite a challenge but hella fun!
