Supressed fears (lucas)
A suitcase sat on Stella’s bed, half full of neatly folded dresses, skirts and shirts. With trembling hands, a white haired girl smoothed the material of a blue skirt she held in her arms, her eyes a dull grey. Gently Stella laid out the skirt in her case, her lips trembling slightly as she did so.

Again, doubt flooded her mind. Was she doing the right thing, by leaving the school she had come to feel so at home at? Then the face of Drewe, like some malevolent phantom, arose in her mind again and she gasped. Yes, it had been a mistake to leave her uncle. He had warned her of what people were capable of, what could happen. And she had been so stupid as to think she would be safe. How could she be, when behind each smile, each complimentary word, a monster ma lie in wait?

With a quick, jerky movement Stella pulled one of her draws open, ready to pack up the last of her things.

A single air-dried rose sat on a bed of white satin, her night gown. Stella felt a lump in her throat rise, large and choking. But she swallowed it back. No, not even with her room mate did she feel safe, though the thought of leaving him hurt her more then she cared to think. With reverent fingers Stella picked up the rose by its fragile stem, laying it across her pillow.

Her eyes stayed fixed on it for a moment, then she tore her gaze away with a small sigh, and folded the last of her dresses, closing the case with a snap. Her bed linen and other small things were already packed. The money for a plane ticket was in her purse, and she had the number of a cab.

Stella sat on the end of her bed, staring at her packed luggage. She could not quick bring herself to leave just yet. She needed a few minutes, just to prepare herself.

Re: Supressed fears (lucas)
Lucas had been sitting on his own reading. Every so often students would walk by him, and he would accidentally catch parts of their conversation. Though he was doing his best to ignore it, the musician found that it was not such an easy thing to do. The conversations between students weren't that interesting anyway. That was what he thought until one small piece on information his his ears.

What he had just overheard made him rise to his feet and without much delay, start running towards the rooms. Someone had mentioned seeing a girl with white hair looking scared, practically terrified only moments ago. There was only one girl with white hair that Lucas knew, and he assumed that the first place to look for her would be the rooms.

Lucas rushed up the stairs, going as fast as he possibly could. Anything could have happened to her. Lucas had no idea whether it was really serious or just something minor. He allowed his fears to get the better of him and was slightly panicking at the thoughts of what might have happened to her. When making it to the fourth floor, Lucas sprinted down the hallway, and swung the door to room fourteen open the second he reached it.

And there he found her, sitting alone at the end of her bed with a suitcase near her. She was leaving? The book he held onto slipped out of his grip and landed on the floor. " What happened, are you alright?" He asked quickly. Lucas quickly moved over and knelt down in front of her, determined to find out what happened and not let her go. His emerald eyes locked with the suitcase, his face showing slight disbelief still. " Why are you leaving?" He asked.

Re: Supressed fears (lucas)
As soon as she had heard someone at the door, Stella’s head had flown up, her face a mask of apprehension and terror. Her hands gripped the mattress, her fingers whitening. Such was her fear it took a moment for her to realise it was not him, not her tormentor. It was her room mate, it was Lucas. Her fear did not die, and as he came towards her she shrunk back, her wide eyes fixed on him.

The unexpected thud of a book hitting the floor produced a flinch from the snow haired teenager, her eyes darting to the sound’s source before flicking back to Lucas. She eyed him as an injured deer would eye a bear; unable to run, though the brain may scream at frozen limbs to move, to move away from what could be such a deadly threat.

"What happened, are you alright?"

Stella continued to stare at him for a moment, her fear battling with the affection she felt for the boy before her, with her desire to trust him, to confide in him.

“I…I...” No, and I will never be alright again. Everything I believed about my fellow person has just been proven to the ideals of an idiot, of a child. That even such kindness as what you show me can just be a mask to hide intensions so much darker.

A sharp intake of breath escaped the girl as Lucas came even closer, kneeling before her. How much she wanted to trust what she saw in those green eyes, to trust that face she saw each morning and each night, to trust him as she had before. To trust the world as she had before. Then Drewe’s face swum into her mind’s eye again, the look his eyes as he locked the door, as he…

"Why are you leaving?"

“I can’t stay here. I can’t…” Her voice cracked slightly. What if it had been her own fault, as he had whispered into her ear? No innocent would have been caught by such a spider, been so clueless ensnared. Stella suddenly rocked forward, her head in her hands. He had seemed so polite, so charming. If he could hide his true self so completely, what could be hiding inside the people she knew, the people she cared about?

“Please Lucas…” She pleaded, not really sure what she was asking him. To let her go, to not make her recount her ordeal? To show her that people were not all in fact cruel and manipulative, hiding behind a shell of false charm and counterfeit kindness?

“I can’t stay here. I can’t…”

Lucas looked away from the suitcase and stared at her, his emerald eyes showed his confusion. What had happened to her to scare her this much? He wanted to ask, but if it had effected her this much then perhaps it was smarter not to ask, and to wait in case she wanted to tell him. Who would do this to her? " You..." He began, but Lucas stopped himself as she rocked forward so her head was in her hands.

“Please Lucas…”

" You can't go, Stella." Lucas replied, his voice filled with the same confusion that was still present in his eyes. It tore him apart to see her like this, and all he really wanted to do was comfort her and try to make her feel better. Lucas placed an arm on her shoulder. In her current position it was difficult to comfort her. " It kills me to see you like this. You don't have to tell me what happened if you don't want to, but please don't leave." He added.

“You can't go, Stella”

She began to tremble as Lucas said those words. It was a command, just as Drewe had given her when she had at last realised, much too late, that she was in trouble. I think I should go now. You can’t go, Stella. She did not notice Lucas’s tone, or his expression. Just those words; an order. And she had learnt what happened to her when she disobeyed a command. Lucas was going to hurt her. He had told her to stay so he could hurt her. Maybe once you had been… hurt, it was something anyone was aloud to do to you.

Stella’s eyes went dull, and she hung her head, biting her lip to keep back the plea that again rose in her throat. When he put his hand on her shoulder, an exact mimic of Drewe’s gesture when he had managed to lock the door, she gave a small strangled little cry, despair etched in every line of her body.

"It kills me to see you like this. You don't have to tell me what happened if you don't want to, but please don't leave."

Stella did not look up, could not look up. Her fingers dug so deeply into the mattress it was a wonder they did not split it. How it tore at her, to here his words and to no longer believe the kindness that was in them.

“I can not stay, I can not.” She whispered, as a single, silvery tear slid down her cheek, leaving a trail that sparkled like diamonds.
“My uncle was right, it’s not safe here. I can not stay and let,” her voice shuddered, but she took a shallow breath.
“I can’t stay here and let people hurt me.” she said softly, her tone barely audible. “I can’t stay here, where kind words and gestures hide cruelty. I can’t stay anywhere, not when I can be fooled and manipulated with such ease.”

Re: Supressed fears (lucas)
“I can not stay, I can not.”

When Lucas heard the small cry she let out, he slowly removed his hand from her. A faint glint of light was all he saw of the tear, yet it wasn't hard for him to figure out what it was. He still had no idea what had happened. So many different ideas were swirling around his head and he refused to believe any of them.

“My uncle was right, it’s not safe here. I can not stay and let,”...“I can’t stay here and let people hurt me.”...“I can’t stay here, where kind words and gestures hide cruelty. I can’t stay anywhere, not when I can be fooled and manipulated with such ease.”

When hearing all that, Lucas began to get a vague idea of what might have happened. He fell back into a sitting position on the ground and looked up at her. " We're not all bad people Stella. There are some people in the world that will try to trick you that way, but that doesn't mean that's what everyone's doing." He explained.

It was the best explanation the musician could give at the time. It may not have been much but at least he had managed to say what he wanted to. " Can you honestly let one bad experience ruin the rest of your life? Can you let it stop you from enjoying everything the world has to offer?" He asked.
