 Surrounded by Tornado TailsI dreamed that I was in my trailer with my brother and sister in law. My 4 year old niece was sleeping. Mo was drawing on the wall illustrating what it was like to remove toxic relationships. She showed how her father, who she loved, was toxic to her so she hooked up a vacuum to a sock and sucked the sock right out of the house through the side wall. Then The scene broke and I was at the hospital in town. I seen Mr. G ( principal of the school) and he was in need of money. His wife was sick. I gave him all the money I had and promised him I would look for more. I was in the basement of the hospital. I seen my sister working and waved to her. I had just got done writing an English test. It was about literature. I wasn’t sure if I read all of the books and thoroughly enough to remember details. I do remember that there had been no midterms and short tests to prepare us all. Me and Mr G parted. I started up the basement stairs and there were all these children lined up on the stairs and now I was entering the old church I grew up in. I seen it was pouring rain outside. Someone gave me a red rain coat that reached all the way to the ground. I zipped it up and headed to the my gramp’s brand new SUV and got in the back seat with my son. He drive us back home Now I am in my trailer again and everyone is sleeping. I suddenly awake in the dream and someone is pointing straight down the hall. My brother is sitting there watching TV. I started to holler “ Up in the corner look!” And up in the corner of the ceiling was a drinking glass floating and twirling. I snuck up to it to grab it, upset that it would be doing this. By grabbing the glass I was able to notice outside. The back ground light was dim, and there was sunshine like when its raining and the clouds start to break. I seen the tail of a tornado cloud hovering right outside my living room window. I hit my brother and said “ shh! Don’t make a sound’ as though it would hear us. I urged him to hurry up and wake people up. I ran and threw my husband out of his bed, then I threw my niece out her bed. My sister in law was half awake trying to make coffee, I told her there’s not time. I threw my brother the keys to the vehicle and ordered them into the vehicles. He said to me “ I just heard there are 15 cars backed up on the highway” I said we didn’t have a choice, we had to leave with them. It was a mass exodus for my area. I could see the vehicles bumper to bumper coming down highway ten from the west, heading east. I ran outside to go to my gram’s. We all were running and looking in the skies at the same time. We couldn’t believe it. There were double tailed tornados seconds from touch down all around us. I hollered at them to get in the vehicle and drive. I went in the house and told gram to hurry up and come. She said they weren’t going. She said “ It won’t be that bad do you think? “ I told her there was no time to argue it was on top of us. She said she wasn’t going to come. They wanted to stay with their home. I was so upset I ordered her to get on the floor and crack open her windows and stay low and I ran out. As I left I was sad and a bit scared that I if I had a chance to return, there would be nothing left to return to. We were trying to decide to take the SUV and the car, or all go in the SUV. I told them we should split up and follow each other. I woke up abruptly. I never seen such a skyscape before. Everything was an eerie silence. This all happened in the night. It was early morning. The skies were filled with the tails of tornados. There was lightning flashing in the clouds. But no thunder. It was as though they were just hovering, sneaking up on people. When I woke up I felt as though this was a real natural occurrence about to happen.
