Well, its the weekend here at MHS. Wouldn't it be great if all schools started on a Friday for the first day of school. What a way to start off. You get a weekend right after your first day. Well, this is because we are done with the first day of class. How so you ask. As you only went to one class. yes, but I am sure that doing the same thing for each class would get boring. So the one class you experienced is basically how all the classes are going to be.
Teacher posts role. Day gets started, end of class happens, everyone goes to their next class, or home..
Well, ezboard still hasn't confirmed anything on a final date when everything is changed over to Yuku. And we are working on what to do next. We all want user friendliness after everything is changed away from Ezbaord, and we are trying everything we can to ensure that we have just that when we are at a new board hosting site.
We have a guest book. Take a look. If you haven't taken a look yet, be sure and do so. ^_^

(OOC: This thread is to explain where Kenshin was during the time I was not RPing. I mean, he had to be somewhere, right?)
Kenshin had been uncomfortable on the entire airplane ride to Tokyo. He didn't like being in a situation where his death could be caused by some idiotic pilot screw-up, or a lazy mechanic who didn't feel like inspecting the engine properly. He'd gotten totally bombed during take-off. At first, the stewardess had given him a "I need to see some ID" look when he ordered some sake, but a hard look from him at stopped that notion short. It was funny how easily some people could be intimidated; if she had asked, he would simply have said he'd left it in his suitcase and tough it out.
Now, though, after four hours of drunken flying and another ten of sleep, he was finally waking up, and his splitting headache told him that his jet lag was the last thing he had to worry about. He relaxed a little when the pilot announced that they were making their final approach, Putting on a seat belt and making a mental note to get some aspirin as soon as he landed; his head was killing him. When you had one, it was easy to believe the joke that hangovers were O-Kami's way of telling people not to drink too much.
They went through an uneventful landing, and Kenshin went to retrieve his luggage, yet another horrible ordeal, as his luggage had been left on the plane, and someone stopped it at the last minute to go and get it. And people had the gall to ask him why he hated flying. He found a place in the airport that sold aspirin and bought a pack, glad for the promise of relief for his head. Now, if they could only invent a medicine that made the rest of you stop feeling like shit...
He took a cab to the train station and then took a train all the way to the small town near his ninja village, hidden high up in the mountains. He couldn't very well take a cab up there; it was supposed to be secret, and the ninja there pretended they lived in this town. They rented furnished houses down here and came down every day, so that it would look normal. With the death of his father, he no longer had a home to go to, but as the Clan leader, he could simply go to his village.

The walk up to where his village lay took forty minutes. There was no road or path of any kind; that might have given the village's location away to someone who ought not to know about it. So, Kenshin had to travel cross-country. He occasionally gave out certain bird cries at certain points, being answered with the same. There were ninja guards all over these woods, with orders to capture anyone trying to approach it. He remembered when Flojo had first come to the village.
Flojo had known where the village was, and had a letter of introduction from his father, but he didn't know to contact Tajiri-sensei in town, so he'd come tromping straight up the mountain like some idiot. He'd taken out four guards on his way up, giving them serious injuries, before he was captured. Once the matter was cleared up, it had taken Flojo an entire week to recover from the injuries the ninja guards had given him on the way up.
Flojo. That was the reason he was here. He'd trained, and trained, and trained, but he was still no match for Flojo. Even with ascension, which he could only do for less than half a minute, he only matched Flojo's strength. He needed to come back home, to train in ninjutsu with his people, so he could become strong enough to avenge his father. It had been a whole year-and-a-half since he had left here, chasing after Flojo. He was ashamed that he had still not completed his goal. Still, the ninja would respect him; he was the jounin, after all.
He continued up the mountain, already in the proper mindset for training. But, first he would have to see to a lot of things. As jounin, the clan was his responsibility. He had left his uncle in charge of the clan, but he'd been away for far too long. He would do what needed doing now, then train, leave the village and kill Flojo, and be back a week after leaving, to do what was his responsibility.
Kenshin came out of the forest, to a small clearing. There were people moving about, some cooking or working, children playing at being ninja, and other groups of genin training here and there. He was finally home.

The first thing Kenshin noticed as he entered the village were the looks. Some people seemed surprised to see him. Others seemed fearful. He greeted some ninja he knew; old friends from the days of genin training. They all shied away from him, as though he had some kind of disease. A few people made kuji-in warding off evil spirits. Why?
He walked all the way to his residence, people averting their eyes and ignoring him all the way. Had they no respect for their clan leader? Fury welled in Kenshin, as well as curiosity as to what the hell was going on here. He walked up the steps of his home and opened the door, walking in and taking his shoes off, putting on slippers instead. He put his bag down near the door; someone else would see to it. The first order of business was seeing his uncle.
A house servant saw him and gasped. He bowed politely, made a sign warding off evil, then turned and began to walk away.
"Stop." Kenshin said. One word, in perfect calm. It was a kiai, one few knew about, the shadow kiai of ninjutsu. It didn't require loud noise, or even any sound at all, but was still very effective at getting someone's attention. The servant stopped short and turned around.
"Yes, kami-sama?" he asked respectfully. Kenshin wondered what was wrong with this man. He was no spirit; he was there in flesh and blood.
"None of this kami nonsense. You know who I am. Where is my uncle?" Kenshin replied, growing more impatient by the minute.
"Of course kami-sama. But Tajiri-sensei is no longer alive; his son Tajiri Shugo is Jounin now." the servant answered, "he is in the garden, if you wish to see him."
"You are dismissed," Kenshin said, the servant hurrying off as quickly as possible while still being polite. That idiot Shugo, jounin!? Kenshin was jounin; his uncle had only been a temporary leader and had never gotten the title. Kenshin stormed off to the garden to find out what the hell was going on.

Shugo Tajiru had been jounin for nearly six months now. After having declared Kenshin dead, he ws the last living member of the Tajiri clan leader's family. It had been an entire year without word from Kenshin, and Shugo had been certain he was dead, and had so announced it to everyone. Of course, he had made it honorable for Kenshin, saying his body had been found and buried in the village plot, using a casket filled with rocks.
He'd made an excellent speech about how Kenshin had died doing his duty, having avenged his father's life, but having died from wounds taken in that battle. This ploy had the convenient double effect of making Kenshin seem more honorable, and making the people believe there was proof of his death, securing his place as jounin. Only he knew the truth of the matter, and he certainly wasn't going to tell anyone. And neither was Kenshin, who Shugo was certain was dead.
It doesn't matter if he does live, Shugo thought, high on power, even if he walked in here right now, I wouldn't even defer to him, much less give him his power back.
"Tajiri Shugo!" came a loud yell from outside the garden. Shugo gasped. It had been Kenshin's voice. He must have angered Kenshin's spirit with his thoughts. He made a sign against evil, hoping it would be enough to placate the ghost. Of course it was a ghost; Kenshin couldn't be alive. Shugo laughed at the thought.
"What the hell are you laughing about, dickhole?" Kenshin asked, standing right behind Shugo, who stopped laughing abruptly as his eyes widened. Kenshin had picked up the insult in America, and rather liked it; he'd just invented the Japanese version. Unfortunately for Shugo, Kenshin was not in a laughing mood.
Shugo turned slowly, to face Kenshin. The blood drained from Shugo's face as he realized that this was no spirit; Kenshin was here in the flesh, and by the look on his face, Shugo had some explaining to do.
"I know what this looks like, and it's actually a very long and funny story..." Shugo began.
Kenshin sat down on a large rock, pulling out a kunai and stone, and beginning to sharpen it.
"Well, then you'd better get started. You have two minutes to explain. If you lie to me, you get one chance to beg for mercy. Then I will kill you," Kenshin said matter-of-factly. Shugo gulped.

Shugo's explanation and profuse apologies had sickened Kenshin, but he allowed him to live. Shugo had always been greedy, but perhaps he had only the clan's best interests at heart when he'd taken over. Unlikely, but perhaps. After clearing everything up with the household, a number of whom had very angry looks for Shugo, Kenshin changed into a kimono to address the clan. He had messengers sent out to gather everyone in the village center.
When he arrived at the canter, a lot of people were surprised. Some of them were scared, understandably, while others just confused. He stepped up onto a platform and began to speak.
"During the time I've been away," Kenshin began, "there have been a number of changes in this clan, not the least of which was the change in who was supposedly the leader. You all believed me dead, and I understand that Shugo only told you this with the clan's best interests in mind. However, I am still very much alive, although I am ashamed to say I have not yet completed my mission. I have returned because of a stumbling block: the murderer of the previous jounin is too strong for me to defeat. I have decided to return here to continue leading our clan, while I train to defeat our enemy."
Kenshin looked over the crowd, who were shocked in stunned silence. Unbeknowst to Kenshin, Shugo had "buried" a coffin full of rocks claiming it was Kenshin's body, found by another allied clan's ninja on a mission in Europe. Had Shugo told them he only believed that Kenshin was dead, they would never have allowed him to have the rank of jounin. One of the assembled ninja voiced this argument, and Kenshin became very angry,
This was going to get ugly.

Kenshin adjourned the meeting, telling the crowd that this "new information" would be taken into accout, and Shugo would be punished appropriately. He immediately sent out five ninja to find and apprehend him. Shugo was a mediocre fighter, but his other ninjutsu skills were excellent, as evidenced by the plot that made him jounin for a short time. However, Kenshin now had his position back, and it was time to worry about other things and leave his capture to others.
The clan had done well under his uncle, records showed, but once Shugo took over, it had become not quite a disaster, but close to it. Shugo had shirked all of his responsibilities as jounin, chosing instead to use only the privileges that came with the rank. He wasted the clan's money on booze and women, and pushed everyone around. Almost all of the actual work of the jounin he had delegated to the chunin of the village.
During a meeting with them, Kenshin found that the clan was almost broke, training was behind schedule, and almost everyone had something to complain about. In short, Shugo had shot the clan to pieces with his idiocy. It would take weeks to fix all this! It was good, then, that Kenshin was coming home for a long while; he would need the training, and he could take care of the clan's problems at the same time, restoring it to its former strength.
He began by taking all of the chunin's extra tasks back onto himself, then ordered his chunin to go back to training the genin, advising extra training to catch up. Each chunin had his own way of training his students, and it was rude to do any more than suggest a change in its training; otherwise he would have ordered it. Luckily, the chunin all agreed with him and decided to up training time.
Kenshin, however, needed to fix the clan's problems. The first among these was that there was almost no money. In the past, ninja could make whatever they needed, but these were modern times, and ninjutsu had evolved as well. How could they make things like bullets, or radios? They needed money to pay for these and their upkeep. This was a major problem, one that needed solving within a week or so. Kenshin had a perfect solution, although his chunin might not like it too much.

"The First Bank of Japan?!?" one of his chunin asked incredulously, wondering where this insane idea had come from.
"That's right. FBJ Tokyo, to be specific," Kenshin continued in a calm leader's voice, "let's face facts. We are almost out of money, and that's severely hurting morale. A ninja clan stays together because it benefits all of the ninja within it. If there's no money, there is bad morale, and people begin to believe the clan is dying, and they may leave. Luckily, we've kept the financial situation quiet up until now, but it is only a matter of time before it becomes obvious."
The chunin looked at each other and at Kenshin, all nodding in agreement, although some were obviously reluctant. Most of them hadn't thought the situation that far through, but then again they weren't trained to. The job of chunin was keeping normal tasks running smoothly and training ninja. Kenshin understodd leadership; he'd been trained for it since birth. They had not.
"The plan is a simple one. We break in, breach the safe, take, oh, a hundred million yen or so, and then we extract ourselves," Kenshin explained, "I sent two genin into the bank today; they will obtain maps and information on the security systems. They will also poison the security guards. Nothing serious, but the poison won't kick in until late tomorrow night. That way we will have light security." Kenshin wasn't worried about electronic alarms or sensors; machines were far easier to fool than human beings.
"I will go on this mission myself, as a training exercise. I will take with me two of you," motioning to the chunin, "and each of you can take up to three of your genin as lookouts or distractions. We will plan the infiltration and operation this evening, when our ninja return. Then, it will be a simple matter of going in and getting the money. The only problem will be the safe. Do we have anyone who's good with explosives?"
As a general rule ninja did not use them, except as distractions, because they were just too damn noisy. Guns could be silenced; bombs could not. Luckily, one of the chunin had a genin who liked to play around with explosives, and was rather good at it. He'd never taken the genin on a mission; he was worried the young man would get overexcited and try to blow something up.

"Here is a plan of the place, Kenshin-sama," the genin began his report, handin Kenshin a set of large maps, "there are three floors. The security system is a pretty simplistic mix of laser sensors and cameras, easily taken out with some efficient hacking. We were able to drug all but two of the guards, who should be easy enough to take out. Other than that, there's nothing really special about the place. Seems like a cut-and-dry operation to me."
"The best point of entry would probably be here," the other genin began, pointing to a spot on the map, near the back of the bank, "its a walled off place where they keep their emergency generators, external air conditioning equipment, that sort of thing. Anyway, there's a maintenence ladder there, which leads to the roof. The glass ceiling over the main lobby of the bank has a number of openings for letting air in; we can use them to let ourselves into the building."
Kenshin examined the map carefully, then looked over the pages of handwritten notes on the building the two genin had made. It was a very thorough job. He dismissed the two and summoned the two chunin who were coming with him, along with the genin they had chosen to take. It was time to make a plan.

Kenshin stepped out of the black Van behind the Bank of Japan in Tokyo. Two chunin and six genin followed suit. They looked around warily, particularly two of the genin, who were wearing street clothes rather than shozoku. They were both teenagers, a boy and girl, and would make a show of walking along, as if on a date, all the while keeping a careful eye on the bank and everything around it.
It was nearly nine o'clock when the operation began, the van driving off, its driver, also genin, would be parked not far away, in case they needed a quick extraction, a case that seemed unlikely. The scaled the wall easily enough, and found their way to the other side.
Then, two genin went up the ladder in back of the bank first. The ladder's original purpose was to allow maintanence workers easy access to the bank's roof, where the two genin lay down flat and checked the area before moving back toward the ladder, where they waved Kenshin and the others up. They moved up the ladder quickly heading for the point of entry.
Not unlike most other banks, the Bank of Japan made a modest attempt to keep its branches looking architecturally pleasant, and did even more for its main branch. There were a series of windows on the roof, to let light into the bank's main lobby during the daytime. They had metal covers on them now, which one of the chunin quickly and easily removed using a technology commonly available: the screwdriver. Whoever had designed the security systems for this place had been a complete idiot.
They cracked open a window and looked inside. A guard sat in a chair behind the teller area. Kenshin pulled a pair of small binoculars out of his pocket and looked carefully at the guard's face. His eyes were closed; he was probably asleep at the moment. The same genin that had scanned the building's roof earlier hooked grappling hooks onto the edges of the window. Kenshin checked and saw that they were thick steel; probably to deter burglars. He grinned. Had they been anything else, they would have needed to find another way in.

The genin scouts dropped down and threw down a smoke bomb. Not a powerful one, but just enough to make a slight mist, so that lasers would become visible. The crept through the lasers, ducking or jumping here and there, until they reached the teller counter, then scanned the area quietly. Upon finding nothing of concern, they motioned for the rest of the ninja to follow suit, which they did.
Kenshin dropped down with the rest and moved toward the teller counter, then the group split up. One of the chunin and his three genin headed for the security room, where the only two guards still awake were. Kenshin and the others, one of them being the explosives expert, crept down a back passage toward some stairs. They stayed in the shadows, unseen by the security cameras, and used chaffs in areas where it was well lit all over. They made their way patiently to the edge of the stairs that led to the basement area. This was where the safe would be located.
The chunin crept up to the security camera watching the stair case from its side, unseen, and reached up and unplugged it. This would generate a warning signal in the security room. Although it sounded menacing, the warning signal was little more than a little red light on a board of little lights, and meant nothing more than that there were technical difficulties with some of the security equipment.
"This is team one, in position," Kenshin said silently into a small headset radio as the connection was cut, metsubushi ready. Move in,"

Team two, composed of a chunin and two genin, was crouching just outside the security room. A small room with no windows, it had an armored door, and was thus damned near impossible to break into in any stealthy way. So, they waited patiently from the signal srom team one that meant it was go time.
"Metsubushi ready, move in," they heard over their radio headsets, and waited silently. The moment the door cracked open, the chunin pounced on the man opening it, pulling him out into the hall with one hand, using the other to cover his mouth, while at the same time kicking his lower right leg, so that it would look to the other security guard as if he had tripped, rather than been attacked.
At the same time, one of the genin pulled open the door, a barrage of shuriken ready to nail the other guard, when they noticed that there was no other guard in the security center. The chunin moved in quickly, dragging the frightened guard with him, and the genin followed suit, watching the hallway. They shut the door and the chunin layed the guard down, uncovering his mouth, but removing his gun, throwing it into a nearby wastebasket.
"Where is the other man?" the ninja asked, as the frightened guard had been prepared to beg for his life.
"Wh- wh-? Y- you mean my p- partner?" he stuttered in fear, "he w-went to g-get some cof-fee. Please don't kill me!"
"If you shut up and be a good boy, you won't get hurt at all," the chunin replied, and slammed the side of his hand into the man's neck, knocking him out. He would have only a bruise in the morning, so it hadn't been too bad of a lie. The guard probably wouldn't care anyway; he'd probably just be glas he was still alive to tell the tale.
"Team two, in position. We are shutting down security. One of the guards is out, getting coffee. Keep an eye out for him; I'm going to send two genin to take him out," the chunin reported over his radio headset, pointing to two of his genin. They knew what to do.

*INTERMISSION*
We interrupt this thread to bring you ... Flojo's Big Post of Ninja Terminology! A number of readers (if anyone's reading this. That'd be a good thing to know; if you are, PM me) may be wondering what a lot of the terms in this thread mean, particularly those who are not familiar with martial arts and their terms. The following are definitions that may help:
genin - a ninja of the lowest class; they have graduated basic training, so to speak, but are still more like grunts than leaders.
chunin - these are like officers. They give lessons to genin and those who haven't reached genin level yet. They are also in charge of the genin.
jounin - the leader of a ninja clan. This is the highest rank that exists; all ninja in the clan defer to the jounin.
shinobi - another term for ninja.
kunai - originally a type of gardening tool, the kunai is used mainly as a throwing knife, although it can be used at close quarters. It looks like an ordinary dagger, with a ring on the end of its hilt.
shuriken - these are the infamous "ninja stars"; basically multi-bladed throwing knives with no handles. They are usually used only as distractions, or to stun the enemy.
shozoku - these are those cool black suits that ninja wear. They have many hidden pockets for carrying crap, like shuriken, kunai, or whatever else ninja need for their mission
hitaiate - these are metal headbands ninja wear to protect their foreheads from swords, clubs, and the many other things that cause death
shinobi-aruki - this is the ninjutsu technique of walking quietly.
ninjutsu - for the uninformed, this is the art ninja practice. It is NOT karate, or judo, or whatever else. It is ninjutsu.
metsubushi - literally translated as "misdirection of attention", the metsubushi includes common things like smoke bombs or flashbang grenades, although anything, including a rock, dirt, or toilet paper can be a metsubushi. The purpose of this is to make to opponent think you're somewhere else, or to stun him while you go in for a vital strike
And now, back to your regularly scheduled thread...

Kenshin's team immediately moved in, going down the stairs to the safe. Two of the genin kept a lookout near the top of the stairs, hidden in the shadows. If that stray security guard showed up here, they'd take him out. Kenshin, the chunin, and the genin explosives expert moved downt eh stairs quickly. There were normally all sorts of lasers and cameras guarding this staircase, but the other team in the security station had taken them out.
They eventually came into a large, well-lit rectangular room, with a huge vault door in the center of the back wall. Two unconscious security guards lay next to the door, obviously having been assigned the job of protecting it. Although they were out of business, getting into the vault would be far from simple; the security experts who had built the bank had made sure of that, the explosives ninja told them.
Kenshin took out the lights in the room as the genin began rigging explosives, with the chunin's help. The room was bathed in darkness, but that didn't slow the two working on the door much at all. They blinked a few times to get adjusted to the darkness, then their night vision kicked in and they continued to plant explosives. This ability to see in the dark was a secret technique of the Tajiri clan, so they didn't need flashlights.

The two genin who had left the security room to go looking for the loose security guard weren't doing too well. They just couldn't seem to find him. They'd searched about half of the bank, including every coffee machine, and not found a trace of him. They kept looking, though, because they'd been ordered to find him, and had to follow orders. They were running through a back hallway, past the office of the bank's president, when they heard a noise coming from inside.
The first genin nodded to the other, who quickly took out the light in the hallway, making it pitch-black. There was no light spilling out from under the door; that was good, as it meant that it was also dark in the room. The lead genin slowly opened the door, making not the slightest noise, and slipped into the room with the other genin trailing. They were groaning noises, both male and female. The ninja looked at each other and grinned, although they couldn't see the grins through the face cloths, knowing what they'd found.
They crept slowly up to the desk, where there was a woman in less than half of what would be called proper business dress, and the AWOL security guard.

Kenshin kept an eye on the stairs as his two colleagues finished wiring up the explosives. It was unlikely that anyone would actually come down here; in fact, it was damned near impossible, what with two ninja guarding upstairs and another two searching the building, while a third pair manned the security cameras. He simply watched the stairs as a precaution, a normal part of being a ninja. Either you were very careful, or you end up very dead.
The two finally finished wiring up the explosives and the chunin reported it to Kenshin, waiting for approval to blow them. Kenshin radioed the chunin in the security room, and then called the two genin looking for the last security guard. One of the two genin left the room, so as not to be heard, and reported success in finding the security guard.
They had the last guard, so no one was going to call the cops. Kenshin signaled for the two ninja on the bank vault to go ahead and blow it open. They'd taken long enough; it was time to get the money and get the hell out of the bank. The three ninja went back halfway up the stairs, with Kenshin leading, then the genin pulled out a small remote and pressed a button.

The explosion was extremely loud, as explosions often were, and was heard upstairs in the bank president's office. The security guard rolled quickly off his mistress, panicking at the sound. He'd never had to deal with anything like this before; being a security guard was supposed to be safe. That's why he did this instead of becoming a cop.
Halfway off the woman, something heavy slammed into the side of his neck, knocking him out while a similar service was performed for the woman he had been "slacking off" with. On his way rolling off the desk, the now-unconscious security guard's elbow hit a button under the bank president's desk.
The president was a security-conscious man, and had three buttons under his desk that he could press in the unlikely event of an emergency. The first simply summoned bank security, for things like troublesome meetings. The second called the police, and was for minor problems, like troublemakers and the like. The third was to be pressed only in the event of an armed robbery, and called the police with a preset message.
It was the third button the man's elbow had hit.

"What the hell?" the chunin in the security room gasped as a light on the board in front of him lit up. A phone call was being made to 911 from the inside of the building. He tried to block it but couldn't; it was running on a seperate line that couldn't be cut or controlled from this room, and he had his genin look up the signal that was flashing on the screen on a sheet of codes pinned up on the other side of the room.
His chunin told him what the code meant, and he knew the plan was ruined. He had been one of the chunin to council against robbing the First Bank of Japan for this very reason: even the best laid plans could go to crap if one person made a mistake. His two genin immediately radioed in, having realized what had happened when they heard the click of the button under the desk.
The chunin immediately called Kenshin and told him that SWAT was on the way, and they needed to get out, and fast.

Kenshin and the two ninja moved quickly into the safe through the broken remains of what had once been the door to the vault. Kenshin had no clue what kind of explosives the genin had used or where he had gotten them, but he saw that the safe was made of six-foot-thick titanium alloy. Whatever the man had used, it was damned strong.
They moved into the vault, quickly locating the area where raw currency was stored. Not freshly issued cash of course, but currency that had been taken in that day. If they took new bills, the numbers would be noted and someone would keep an eye out for them to reappear. Each man produced a large bag from the inside of his shozoku and began transferring bills into it.
When the three bags were full, which took a while, each strapped his bag onto his back for easier carrying. It made their total size slightly wider, but this was the only good way to carry them. Kenshin keyed his radio to report success and get the extraction van out here, but got nothing but static in return. That wasn't surprising; they were inside a superthick underground safe after all.
