Taking Care of Dead Hair (your ends) ..how do u?
I've learned that the ends of your hair and the hair grew out of your roots are basically dead. It's kinda funny to look at it that way, but it's true. I was wondering if any of you could recommend some things that might help make your ends stronger. Deep Conditioning, hot oil treatments? What's your regime to ensure you have strong ends?

I guess it's just doing all the basics, right? Eating good, vitamin intake, and plenty of water. Does anybody use protein conditioners? I've heard a lot of good things about them, but I've also heard that they weren't as good as everyone made them seem. Any comments?

profective
I like long n' healthy serum by profective to start at my ends and work my way up the hair to the roots. That little bottle lasts forever, too.

I use henna and Lotus Powder Plus (herbal blend) to assure that all of my hair is strong and scalp healthy. I accompany these with moisturizing. My routine is to condition my hair for strength (henna or Lotus Powder Plus) 2x monthly. I deep oil condition once or twice a month. I use a daily moisturizer on my hair and moisturize when my hair is damp after henna or lpp treatment. What I find is that these things help to take care of my hair, including the ends.
I braid my hair and roll it nightly. At that time, I apply some moisturizer cream to the ends of my hair. I find this keeps my ends in good shape.

I use my own Lustre Moisturizing Cream. It is rich with herbal extracts that helps to seal in the moisture the cream consistency provides. There are also other cream moisturizers on the market with good stuff in it. I use the one I developed...which makes sense I guess...
I had previously been using just the herbal extract blend. But I found that my ends wanted more as my hair grew. I like this moisturizer because it is flexible. I can use it as a daily rub-in, leave-in. It can be used after washing the hair as a moisturizing conditioner to slather on...put on plastic cap...rinse out. It can be added to the henna paste itself. A little goes a long way. And I am particularly fond of things that do double or triple duty.

Sounds good to me!
I love the idea of making your own products. You can adjust it to your liking and need. Well, thanks for the info.

This is how I "baby" my hair ends:
--deep condition weekly with a heavy moisturizing conditioner such as Nexxus Humectress; moisturize daily and use Profectiv Break Free or Profectiv Mega Growth every other day.
