Tanaka's Return, Prolouge.
Six years had passed since Tanaka was defeated by Robin at Jotho's south sea castle. Since, then, Robin became a mentor to the young Furret maiden named Siren.

Tanaka, however, chose a life of crime, theft and cruelty. There was nothing to stand in his path now. He was the ultimate rival.

Chapter One

"C'mon, Siren! There's no way I'm gonna lose to you if you're that far behind me!"

Siren sprinted up the hill to where he mentor stood. "Robin! I'm not as fast as you, so lay off me!"

"You're no fun to tease, Siren."

"I know, but I'll still.......Beat you!" With that, Siren fell limp at Robin's feet.

Robin shook his head. "Siren, you'll never make it in that race if you keep falling over. The competitors aren;t goning to give you a break, no matter how bad they feel about watching you fall and stuff."

Siren looked up into Robin's blue eyes. "But I know I can do it, Robin! I can make it! I know I can!"

        "You can, huh?"

        Siren nodded.

"Awright. Gimme one lap though the inner gate, through the pond."

        "But-"

"No buts, Siren. You know that race will require a fraction of swimming ability. Just give me one lap, and you won't hear another word from me until we train again tomorrow. However, continue to "but" and your name will become the last word you utter before you keel over. Comprendo?"

        Siren nodded.

"Good.....1,2,3....................GO!" Siren was off like a shot, with Robin tagging along at her heels.

"Keep going, Siren! You're doing great!"

Siren continued running until she came to the pond. There was no way around it, and she couldn't swim. There was no choice. She held her breath and plunged in. She managed to stay afloat, but ended up floundering like a newborn guppy. "Robin! Help!" Within seconds, Robin darted into the pond and lifted Sirne up onto the grass.

Robin remained with his tail in the water, and front paws up on the ground. "Siren, you're not going to be able to ace that race."

"Yes, I will, Robin! I'll keep trying! Please lemme do that race!"

"I never said I wouldn't let you do it, Siren. I said you can't ace the race at the pace you're going at."

        "But-But I can improve!"

Robin pulled himself out of the water. "We'll see about that. Meanwhile, I think It's lunchtime."

Chapter Two

Robin dropped off Siren in the Student cafeteria, then headed upstairs to his office where he was required to change into his formal robe. When he had changed, he made his way down the hall to the Mentor cafeteria.

In his 14 years there, he'd grown to love the hustle and bustle of the hallways: young lovers holding paws,
In his 14 years there, he's grown to love the hustle and bustle of the hallways: young lovers holding paws, bickering groups of mentors, the castle navigator, Igor, giving directions to lost teachers and students, the cooks zooming around with overflowing bowls of jell-o, the 4 masters walking around, checking up on everyone, and the watchman, a mysterious Umbreon known as Gryffon was often seen around.

After some 10 turns over some "Mentor Only" barricades, through a door, through the lounge, and through another door, he reached the cafeteria, got his lunch, and joined his buddy Shane at one of the tables.

        "How's the training going, Shane?"

The Sandslash shook his head. "Not very well, I'm afraid, Robin. Suntear just doesn't have enough confidence in herself to train well. How's Siren?"

"Siren's the exact opposite. It's hard to believe they're sisters."

"Well, Robin, sisters are like that. Remeber Dawn and Tanaka?"

"Do I ever. Bless Dawn's soul."

"Agreed," Shane said, "Have you seen Charlie at all since she died? I only saw him once....before he flew off to that island really far north from here. On the other coast of Johto."

Robin nodded. "Charlie's a great guy."

"Agreed. He felt as though he lost his daughter though."

"I know. They had a really special bond."

Shane nodded as he glanced at his watch. "Sorry to eat and run, Robin, but I promised Suntear I'd meet her outside the student cafeteria."

"I'll go with you," Robin said, standing up,"I have to meet with the Masters inside the cafeteria to discuss Siren's ranks and desire to enter the race."

        Shane nodded. "Alrighty. Let's go."

Chapter Three

"Hmm.......Say, Leia, what'll happen if you add ice to an ocean?"

"Beats me, Gage. Hey, Kelsiey! C'mere!"

        "What is it, Leia?"

"What'll happen if you add ice to the ocean?"

Shane stuck his head into the the group's conversation. "Adding ice to the ocean would have no benefit on your part because the salt in the ocean would just dissolve any amount of ice you add to it. Now, if you plan to carry on this conversation, please do so elsewhere." Shane emerged from the group and began walking down the the Student cafeteria. Where had Robin run off to? He clicked his claws. "I know you're here, Robin!"

        "Who're ya lookin for?!"

Shane, startled, turned around. "Oh, um...no one."

The Eevee before him, grew silent, and began to glow.

        "Umm, is something wrong?"

        The Eevee continued to glow.

        "SAY SOMEHTING, DAMMIT!"

He finally stopped glowing, and suddenly, there stood a Chaos Master Umbreon. "Shane. Long time no see."

"SHANE! SHANE!" Robin came running down the hall. "WHERE WERE YOU?! I WAS LOOKING- Oh, Hi, Gryffon."

"Good day, Robin. I was testing your comrade's decency in the form of an Eevee apprentice. Apparently, he hasnt the decency to properly speak to anyone."

        "Excuse ME?!" Shane yelled.

"I wouldn't speak that way to a Chaos Master, if I were you, Shane." Gryffon turned to Robin. "Now, Robin, do you know of any thing.....odd in this castle? Like......crazed spirits and things of the sort?"

"You don't have to look to far to find one, Gryff." Shane muttered

"That's no way to speak to a Chaos Master, is it, Shane? Have a look at my identification." A silver-plated card appeared in front of Shane.

        "Hmm....Gryffon.....age....24....sex....male.....Mentor Classa...Chaos Master, 3rd degree. ...Excelsior mentora......DIAMOND?! And you're only 24?!"

"Do not underestimate me, Shane. And that's just my normal Identification. I have another in my office, which is much better and more secretive. Now, I'll let you both off easy, this time. Now find something useful to do."
