Temple of the Swordelders
Sangraal and Madragar are led to a large square chamber just inside the main entrance. The place is surrounded by high stone columns supporting a domed roof. The center of the dome is open to the sky, illuminating a rectangular slab of stone in the center of the chamber. It is unadorned and appears to be the temple's central altar. The rest of the temple seems only sparsely illuminated.

Kruanru walks to the far side of the altar and stands facing Sangraal and Madragar, who are positioned on the opposite side of the stone. Two other priests move into the shaft of light that pierces the gloom of the temple from the opening directly above them and flank the pair.

"Tell me your name," Kruanru begins, addressing Sangraal. "And tell me how you know the painted one here and the dwarf."

Re: Temple of the Swordelders
"My name is..." Sangraal starts, " is Sangraal of Dobrug, disciple of Yelm. The painted one is someone I call friend, his name is Madragar. Though I can not say the same for the tomb robbing dwarf. " he voice is confident and clear.

"Madragar and I were sent on an errand on behalf of the Ghurugil. We traveled with several other companions, one an acolyte of Humakt by the name of Yimris. We journeyed to Old Kurlew to discover the fate of the Guardian there. Yimris fell, so did dwarf Ruig, a Ghurugil who accompanied us."
Sangraal makes the sign lumina in respect to Ruig and Yimris. " Yelm guide them."

"We attempted to retrieve the blade for return to your holy order but the dwarf and his broo allies overwhelmed us" Sangraal spits " and we were forced to leave our fallen".

"The dwarf, I do not know his name, but am glad that he will face justice. He is a thief, a servant of the darkness. I for one would like to know what he and his allies were looking for."

"If you wish to contact the Ghurugil, there are many among them that will vouch for us. The elder Savud knows of us."

Madragar holds his peace, his dignified air unbroken by the small differences between Sangraal's tale and his own.

Re: Temple of the Swordelders
[I didn't lie! I have a different perspective.]

[Actually, on reflection, our stories aren't different. I just said that I knew the dwarf hadn't killed Yimris. Personally, I think that there is no good evidence that he worked with the broo, and every indication that he and the Legionnaire (where is -that- bastard, eh?) were a separate duo bent on looting.]

[Nonetheless, we don't -know- he looted Yimris' body, and there certainly was no tomb.]

Re: Temple of the Swordelders
[OOC: The Merek Lek got slaughtered in Old Kurlew. That makes it a tomb in my book. Either way the dwarf was there for less then lawful reasons.]

"You, Madragar," Kruandru jabs a finger in the wizard's direction. "Do you concur with Sangraal's account?"

Re: Temple of the Swordelders
"You have heard my version of the tale, Swordelder, and I've no reason to amend it. They are the same story, told from two different perspectives. The goodly Sangraal regards the dwarf as a thief, and I've already said that he probably is just that. Yet the fact remains that neither of us saw how he acquired the sword, and both of us know that he did not kill Yimris himself."

"When my friend says that we were prevented in our recovery of the sword by the dwarf and the broo, I can say only that the dwarf was not present during that fight. Present at a later fight, he raised no hand against us, and only fled with a human companion, a Legionnaire."

"Never was it my purpose to stay your judgment; only to inform it with the witness of my own eyes."

Re: Temple of the Swordelders
Kruanru nods, apparently satisfied with Madragar's testimony.

"Sangraal, tell me what you know of the broo that you found in Old Kurlew. Why were they there, and why would they tolerate a Lunar dwarf to live amongst them?"

Temple of the Swordelders
"I only know that they came to loot and desecrate Old Kurlew. At least that is what we found them doing when we arrived. The Merek Lek were slaughtered at the mouth of Old Kurlew, the band of Rangers in which Yimris was a part of. We slew all that we could find, any that was missed most assuredly met there doom under the foot of the guardian of Old Kurlew after we left".

Re: Temple of the Swordelders
Kruanru stares at Madragar and Sangraal for a long moment. Both can see the gears of the priest's mind churning behind his eyes. Finally, the black bearded man lays a long, narrow bladed sword on the altar before them. Its hilt is finely crafted and covered in unusual iconography, its scabbard of simple but sturdy construction. It is, or at least looks identical to, the weapon carried briefly by Yimris.

"The accused was found attempting to sell this, a sacred weapon of our faith. I have sent a messenger to Burhaval in Tunlura, for this weapon was his. It is a Pathwalker blade, as you may know already. Only those seeking to walk the path of the Sword God may wield it."

Kruanru gestures to an acolyte waiting patiently nearby. The young man, dressed in a voluminous black robe, sweeps into the shaft of afternoon sun and takes up the weapon then quickly retreats out of the room.

"You have spoken truthfully," Kruanru continues. Sangraal and Madragar are certain, by the certainty in the priest's words, that he somehow knows they spoke the truth. "Your council has been valuable, though I admit I yearned to see the sentence carried out to its completion. We will pass judgement on the blasphemous dwarf tomorrow. You are free to go. Gudra will escort you to the Ghurugil Lodge."

Re: Temple of the Swordelders
Madragar nods at the justice in Kruanru's words.

"A moment, please, Swordelder," he says. "This blade belongs to a Burhavel of Tunlura? Was he related to Yimris? Or are we wrong as to the identity of our friend's sword?"

Re: Temple of the Swordelders
"Come Madragar, I can explain, Yimris found the calling later then most and sought out a humakt priest when we arrived in Tunlura. Though I did not know the name of the priest till now."

Sangraal turns and thanks Kruanru for the offer of a guide to the Lodge.

[OOC: I get the scary feeling these guys are the equivelent of the Agaleus Inquistors in your campaign. lets just get out of here. I hate the agaleus!
Sangraal, if they are free to go, will collect his gear and then wait for the guide to arrive to show them to the Lodge.]

[Tsk. Such religious intolerance!]

Madragar waits for Kruanru's answer.

"Burhaval is the head of our Order in Tunlura. Yimris must have gone to him and taken an oath to walk the Path, and thus received this blade."

Re: Temple of the Swordelders
[Sangraal is done here. He has no wish to get futher involved, the dwarf dug his own hole and shall now lay in it.]
Sangraal recovers his equipment from the weapons rack and awaits arrival of the guide.
On the way back to the Lodge Sangraal will inquire if sentencing is public and if it is where?
"I wish to bear witness." he states flatly.

Re: Temple of the Swordelders
"Then tell Burhavel that Yimris did indeed walk the path, and with honor."

Changing the subject, he says "The dwarf was in the company of a Lunar Legionnaire. An accomplished soldier who held the stairs of Old Kurlew against our entire company until I ransomed my companion's lives with that of the dwarf."

"Sangraal believes their motive in Old Kurlew to be theft. Yet I wonder. Their arrival in the narrow space of time between the fall of Koreaus and the arrival of his kin seems more than happenstance. Perhaps your inquiries might extend in that direction before you complete your judgment."

"And now, Swordelder Kruanru, with your kind permission, I will follow Sangraal. I have companions to bury."
