The Assignment Chapter 36
I know that you guys have been waiting for this, so her is goes. Hope you enjoy it, and I might even get on out before break ends.
Chapter 36
“Jason, please just leave me alone. I’m going up to take a shower. I’m mad at you and right know I can’t even look at you.” Elizabeth said heading up the stairs. She knew that her sister had left for the airport this morning, and that they were in the house alone with the children. Ethan picked up Megan this morning so that they could talk before she went away to the trial.
Jason sank back in the couch, how was he ever going to make this up to her. Wait something just popped into his mind, something that would light up her smile. This plan just has to work, he thought to himself.
After taking a shower, Elizabeth changed into a pair of jeans, and a red halter top. Feeling refreshed from all this going on, she decided to go and check on her niece and nephew. When she got to Anastasia’s room, the bed was empty, and the room a banded.
Walking down the steps Elizabeth saw Jason holding both kids, one on each knee watching cartoons. Jason heard the steps creek, and he knew she was done with her shower, he just hoped that she calmed down a little bit.
“Megan left a note for you on the table. She told you to pack a few of Anastasia’s clothes, and lock up when we leave.” Jason said still having his eyes clued to the TV. It didn’t surprise her that he was trying to let her calm down, but she was still mad at him, for even leaving when he did. How did he think that they could be a family, if he keeps leaving her?
“Did you feed them breakfast?” She asked her husband.
“Yeah, there’s some on the table for you. I made pancakes.”
“Thank you, I’m just going to go up, and pick a few other things for Anastasia…” Elizabeth told them, when she heard a knock at the door. “I’ll get it.” She swung open the door and was greeted with her parents.
“What are you doing here?” Elizabeth asked.
“I thought that I would see what you were up to. I didn’t get to see you, when we came in last time, because you went on your honeymoon. I thought that we could get caught up.” Her mother said.
“You can come in, but were going to head back to our house in a few minutes; I just have to pack up a few of Anastasia things.”
“Hi, Mrs. Webber, Mr. Webber.” Jason said to his in-laws, as he shook their hands. Elizabeth had already gone up the stairs to do her mission.
“To tell you the truth, were going to go on a surprise vacation, but Elizabeth doesn’t know. You’re welcome to join us. I’m going to take the family to Disney world, so that we can have so relaxing time. I want to leave tonight, and I thought that I would drive so she won’t have any idea of where we are going to go. You can follow us in your car, and we can book an extra room at the hotel if you want to join us.” Jason said.
“I think that is a good idea that you guys get away. If you don’t mind us following you, I think that would be a great idea, so that Elizabeth knows that we want to be in her life.” Elizabeth’s mother said.
“What are you guys up to?” Elizabeth asked as she walked down the steps.
“Nothing, we are just going to go home, and get ready for a trip that we are going to take. The boys all ready got the food together. We just have to go have to go home and pack.” Jason said to his wife.
“I didn’t know that we are going away. I need to talk to you, but we will do that at home. Anna, Michael are you ready to go. Go turn off the TV, and grab your things.” Elizabeth said.
“We’ll meet you at your place in an hour, that gives us time to pack, and check out.” Elizabeth mother said.
Jason put the kids in their seats, while Elizabeth put her bags in the back. She was even surprised when he was standing at her door, to usher her in. When he finished ushering her in her seat and walked around to the other side of the car, and started it up. He noticed that Elizabeth was being very quiet. He knew that she was waiting for the right moment to pounce on him.
“May I at least ask where we’re going, and why my parents are going with us, and why all of a sudden do we need to go away?”
“It’s a surprise were we are going, I told your parents that we are going away, and they said that this would be a great way to let you know that they still care for you, and were going away to get away from everything else.” Jason said.
“Is any one else going with us?” she asked.
“It’s us, your parents, Johnny, Max, Emily Nicholas, and my parents. But don’t worry; were driving down, and it’s only going to be me you and the kids in the car, everyone else is following us.” Jason said.
“Why are all of those people going with us? And why now?” She asked.
“Don’t worry about it, just pack for warm weather. Okay, don’t fight me on this. This was suppose to be a surprise, and I don’t want to ruin anything else for you or for the kids.” Jason said as he pulled in to the parking garage.
When they reached the penthouse, the guard helped them in the door. Jason was carrying the kids, one in each arm, and Elizabeth was carrying Anastasia’s stuff. Jason was surprised that Elizabeth didn’t throw a fit with everything going on. He was bound to hear it later. Elizabeth took the kids upstairs, so they could pack their toys that they wanted to take.
Elizabeth left them to their task, while she joined her husband in their bedroom. “Will you at least tell me how many days we are going to be away for?” She asked.
Jason didn’t even stop packing, “about 10 days.” He said.
“Why don’t you finish up packing, and I’ll go pack the kids stuff, so you don’t have to worry about it.” Jason said, putting his packed bag beside the door.
“Thanks.” Elizabeth said with a little smile.
Jason packed 10 pairs of clothes for both of the kids, while they picked out what toys that they wanted to play with while they were away. Grabbing the kids bags, his and Elizabeth’s he headed down stairs and placed them at the bottom of the stairs. Elizabeth was still up stairs packing things for the car ride.
“Sir, the food is in the back seat, along with in the trunk. Do you want me to put these bags in the back?” Johnny asked.
“Everyone, but the one with Pooh bear on it, that’s the kid’s toy bag. Thanks for everything. I just have to grab some videos for them.” Jason said, as he picked out some children’s video along with so educational videos.
A knock at the door had Jason stop what he was doing. He answered it, and realized it that it was his sister Emily, and her fiancé Nicholas. He welcomed them in, and finished what he was doing. He placed the videos in the Pooh bag.
Elizabeth walked down the stairs with Anastasia, and Michael one in each hand. When she reached the bottom stair she set them on the floor, and went over to greet her new sister-in-law, and friend with a smile. She didn’t want word getting out that Jason and her just had a fight. She forced a smile on her face to show them that nothing was wrong.
The knock at the door interrupted their conversation. Johnny opened the door and announced Elizabeth’s parents, along with Jason’s. Elizabeth greeted all of them.
Jason picked up the map on the kitchen table, and ushered everyone out the door. Elizabeth held her carry on bag, along with the children’s carry on bag. Johnny had already packed their car, and all Jason had to do was get the kids in there. That could mean trouble.
