I've had a minor skin problem on my left shin for the past month and decided that I might need some cream
So at 1.45 today I went into Boots and asked the Pharmacist for advice. She advised me to see my GP. I thought oh well that's an appointment next week then. I phoned the surgery from my mobile and was offered an appointment at 2.20, Unfortunately that was insufficient time to get back to the surgery and was offered one at 2.40 which I took.
I was out of the surgery with the cream and after having one of my ears cleaned out too before three.
The NHS has it's critics but I could not fault it at all today.
The NHS is god awful. I had to visit a working class friend in hospital once and it was so scared walking along the corridors. They are endless and the place hadn't been redecorated since I think the 60s.
Plus the NHS has no respect for public art. They have destroyed the insides of loads of historic buildings to make way for ugly corridors and examination rooms.

Im really quite supprised you have any! , Friends I mean in general and not just those of a working class background. The NHS is getting better every year. I have nothing but praise for it after I recently had to use it.
Re: The NHS
I do not like the NHS at all, my step dads dad died in hospital today after catching M.R.S (is that right? the bug in hospitals). He caught it when 3 people on his ward were not isolated after they caught it. If he would have accepted my step dads offer of going private he would have been home last week!
Re: The NHS
It does usually take weeks to get a GP or dentist appointment but I won't have a word said against the hospitals.
I recently had surgery which would have cost almost £10K privately... for nowt! and they had Jelly!

Im really sorry for your loss, but you should really know what your talking about before you make a statement like that. The medical staff would have used a technique called barrier nursing which would have prevented MRSA from being spread to other patients - MRSA is not airborne. Therefore the patients being on your fathers ward wouldn't have made a difference.
Re: The NHS
MRSA (Methicilin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus) is equally as rife in private hospitals as NHS ones. The bacteria which causes it has evolved as a result, mainly, of our over-use of antibiotics. It can be successfully treated in most cases with Tetracyline antibiotics, but diagnosis is not easy.
I am sorry to hear about your loss.

Re: The NHS
I don't understand why people rip the NHS apart. Let's take a look at it. Even though it isn't the most efficient service ever, at least we have a system that's there. Other countries have nothing like we have. Appreciate what you have people. Ungrateful honestly! And in the end, who is to blame? US. There's too many people in the country now, and when they wanna do something like add to taxes to improve it, people go crazy and then complain cos it's so shit! God People! x lol, I have no idea what I'm going on about by the way, I just think people should appreciate it for what it is and the fact that it exists. Count yourselves lucky. Okies i'll stop talking now. x
Re: The NHS
I've never had any probs with the NHS, i rarely need it but when u have used it its been for emergency treatment, i was taken to A&E no waiting or anything and i reciieved really good care, so i have no probs with it.
Re: The NHS
The week I spent in hospital was fine, even the food was nice. We had psychedelic yellow Jelly.
I didnt see any male nurses though, its not fair.
Homosexuality is natures way of ensuring the truly gifted are not burdened with children
Like anything some people have a bad experience and tar it all with the same brush. I had a bad experience with a branch of a shop, doesn't mean another branch might not have been completely different.
On the few cases I've had to use the NHS I've not had any problems at all. In fact the only time I went into my A&E unit they couldn't have been better!
The thing that annoys me is that most of the workers there are doing it for a pittance of a wage. They should be admired.
Re: The NHS
Sorry to hear about your step-grandad brookie boys. Was he in the Royal? It's rife with MRSA there, i think Broadgreen has it as well. My sympathies.
As for GPs, they're now supposed to offer you an appointment within 24 hours of you calling. It's part of the new patient's charter. In fact, when i called up last, they couldn't offer me one in a few days. I was told to call the day i wanted the appointment.
Re: The NHS
no problem. someone in work, her nan is in the Royal with MRSA. Nasty thing. My nan's in hospital too, but fortunately it's this side of the river and it doesn't have MRSA in Arrowe park.
Re: The NHS
ive never had any problems gettin appointments for the GP's, always the day i ring. its always hospitals i have to wait for. like now ive had lumps in my neck since the end of march. and considering my medical history i thought id get an appointment to check them out before 15th june. ( this is the earliest they could offer me:s) my GP asked beginning of april for this appointment
