Harry Potter spent what would have been his Seventh Year tracking down horcruxes and destroying them. Finally after a long and horrible battle with many casualties on either side, the seventh bit of Lord Voldemort's wretched soul was destroyed. Many of the Death Eaters fought long after Voldemort's death, some in absolute denial, most were killed, the remaining were sent to Azkaban. The Wizarding world let out a breath they had been holding for the last 30 years. The Second War was over. The Ministry deemed that it was safe to reopen Hogwarts, but there was much debate as to who would be the Headmaster. Professor McGonagall was killed in battle. Finally it was decided that Stephanie Vermont would be the Headmistress of Hogwarts. As the school had been closed the previous year. Vermont decided those who didn't complete their educations were welcome to return to Hogwarts to complete it. Hermione Granger eagerly returned, begrudgingly followed by Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Eventually most people ended up coming back, to complete the year that should have already happened. So begins the long awaited "New Dawn" the hopefully named "Golden Age" ... Most people went on with their lives, living a frivolous, carefree, magical existence, Believing that nothing dark and evil could touch their lives again. Nothing compared to what they had gone through could possibly grip the Wizarding world in such a consuming capacity again. Those more sceptic, were more careful.
