The Pillow Book. ( V )
Sakura came to the lake often, it was calming to watch the water. At night you could see the reflection of the stars, it was her retreat. She was wearing a pair of blue jeans and faded purple sweater. Her jacket was on the groud, she would lie thier till she flet rested. her mind was on all the things that had happened.

Did anyone realize she was trying so hard to fit in, or was she just another crazy girl. Her eyes watched the moon on the water, it was almost full, she loved it here.

The moon is almost full, almost full of spring, and the water is almost full, almost full of moon. Sakura is alone, there are no other students in the vicinity, except perhaps Merciah at his lakeside camp; and he can be so invisible. Sakura is alone, until a pebble kicks across the rough rock, and and the pebble came from a dark boot, and --

Enter, Genevieve Vendetta. "Sakura."

Sakura looked up as the rock hit her foot, she saw V. The moon hit her highlighting her hair, she is as somber as usual.
She just nods in her Direction, if V wanted to say something she could come to her. She is amused by the black outfit gives V that headless ghost feel. She notices that the outfit is plain, she never tries to stand out.

"V is there something I can do for you?"

Re: The Pillow Book.
And V doesn't approach, yet. Not quite yet.

Unsurprisingly, she's all in black, and other dark colors, from the tips of her boot all the way up. The jacket is fitted, kanji flit like butterflies up the sleeve. They read: [for this you must learn Japanese, first.]

She'd be so plain, if she wasn't a lovely creature in her own right -- doesn't quite fit in, hm? But most people don't think of that, because V ...

... she's always so so assured. Controlled. Calm. "Yes, I think so - have you been alright?"

Sakura looks at V, she is looking at her eyes. they seemed to ask more than just that simple question.

" I have been very confused lately, I can tell you the story but you might not like it. It is very complicated. wopuld you like to join me in the watching of the lake?"

Her voice was low and full of emotion, it was time to let someone in on her little secrets, all of them. She leans back on her elbows and watches the moon.

Re: The Pillow Book.
V: a good listener. But does she want to be a confessional?

The teenager regards Sakura--dramatic little Sakura--and then says, "You can tell me a story."

Re: The Pillow Book.
sakura looks back at V, could she really tell her everything, she needed to tell someone.

" I have been doing some bad things lately, I am not very proud of them. I was trying to get some info on a few students but to go about it I used something from the gang to do it. As far as i know it back fired. I can also tell you that I am not as innocent as I let one. I know what the other students say about me, how any many who is with me will be cheated on. "

She looks back towards the water, her teeth chew at her lower lip. She ponders what the next thing she should say would be.

" I think Jun might of killed someone but then that might just be a dream i have."

How any body who is with me will be cheated on, Sakura says, and the teenager raises an eyebrow.

Otherwise, she listens, inscrutable and still, while Sakura continues on in a different mood. Sakura falls silent, and V's response, after a few seconds trickle by, going, going, gone, is:

"And?"

She looks up at V's cold voice, she was never much on words.

" And.....I did try and suduce Akai....he ran... I tried for Kobita ...he shot me in the arm. I was just trying to do what Katrina told me to do. If I could ruin my rep and become the whore of the school, I would become the gangs leader. I like men but not enough for that. I want out of the gang. ( she runs her hand through her hair, the bare shaved side shows in the moon light) Then i think thier might be an evil group running around our fair campus. I think it might have something to with when Amber was taken. I can't confirm it but.....Then with Jun I care for him but .............( she shakes her head)....i am not sure. Then I hear Maevis is back.......my emotions are torn.......everything has gone so wrong. "

She stares at V. her green eyes are bright, she waits for some kind of response form her.

Words can be weapons, but so can the spaces between them: silence does not necessarily equal comfort. Because silence can be haunted by words that aren't, by words that might be, by things which have not yet happened. Genevieve is grave-quiet, and she could be a ghost. Sakura's finished her confession [I absolve you?], and after that silence - wielded - stretches for long enough to snap, V says: "What do you want me to say?"

Sakura stared camly at V, she knew that no matter what she could not ease her guilt only she could do that. She looked down at her hands, she can feel V's eyes. They have always been that way, even when she is relaxed.

"What do you want me to say?"

" Not much of anything, I just thought you might want to know my side. My guilt is my own and there is nothing i can do about it."

She stands up her figure looked slim against the background.

"Try not to be so selfish," V replies, and although she doesn't raise her voice, it carries. The wind is dead. Doesn't draw a finger down the lake and make it shiver. V is at her most distant, just now, and she looks away from Sakura, out across the lake which is silvered by moonlight and as still as a sheet of glass.

She nods at V's words they carry much of her own feelings but she was so young and she wanted only happyness.

" I wish my life was as calm as this lake, you could almost walk ont he water, but the first step would cause a ripple. Each one would make it harder to walk. Thats how my life is, everytime my foot hits something goes wrong. How do you step on the water with out caausing a ripple?"

She moved a few feet closer to V but not enought o invade her space.

"You don't."

Genevieve's lashes lower, contemplative, and she crosses her arms over her chest.

Above, an owl glides, silent, silent, circles, silent, silent, until it's over the Forest of Itami [demons?], where it takes a sudden plunge downward.

Sakura frown down at V's head, she had never really gotten this woman.

"You don't."

" Ahhhhh. I see. So that means my life will be full of plenty of ripples. And I will have many intresting experinces. And I am sure others will leave me with a s much guilt as I have now. DO you feel any guilt?"

She turns her head in the direction of the noisy bird, she smiles and wonders what it is like to fly.

"What?" Composure: rippled?

I close my eyes and all the world drops dead.
I lift my lids and all is born again.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

--Sylvia Plath, Mad Girl's Love Song

And Genevieve's lids lift, slightly: just a sliver of her eyes as gold as a fox spirit's are visible. Her reply, after a moment: "Everbody with a heart feels guilt."

Beat. "But, I don't feel guilt for tormenting the boys at this school, no. Do you? Have you apologized?"

She turns back to V, she is finally saying more than a few words. A mircle, she smiles.

" Hhhhmmmmm...............( sigh).........No I have not done that, and it would be to more than just boys. Though I did aplogize to her. I wouldn't even no where to start. Who should I start with?"

She steps closer to V, she looks down at her golden hair.

Sakura's the sea, creeping inland; V's the shore, motionless. And Sakura looms over V by a goodly amount, but V doesn't seem intimidated. Why should she? As composed as a line of classical music, mathematic in precision. She shrugs once, arms still crossed. "Why are you asking me?"

Sakura stops and look bac at the laske, her mind drifts back to Alex.

" Well you did give me advice about Alex. That was my own fault. But you might know things I don't. I want to hear what the others say."

She smiles at the moon her face upturned.

Re: The Pillow Book
"Why do you want to hear what the others say?" Moonlight isn't half-so-cool, as intangible as the illusion of warmth in her eyes. For all that, she doesn't sound cold -- no, just collected. Assurance in the air around her, in the way she carries her head. "Just apologize," beat, "if you feel guilty."

She keeps her face in the air but extends her arms out.

" Maybe I am just way to curious for my own good. And V what should I do about the stuff I don'e feel guilty about. Like falling in love with Maevis, I broke Jun's heart. At one point in time I thought his heart was cold or lost. I just wasn't the one to unlock it."

She lifts her hands over her head, and then place her hands at her side.
