The coming of Ovak
Well, thank you for welcoming me into your glorious clan. As such, I would like to tell you of my history, that you might know me more. It took a lot of ale for me to get this out of my father, but here it is. It is a long drawn-out history, but it is of my heritage.

HISTORY OF FARDAKIN

Many many years ago, a great dwarvin kingdom thrived in the lands (which may very well have been Nidavellir.) This was when human and other demi-human kingdoms, as well as the age of the world were young, (or so went dwarvin legend). Dwarvin colonists were sent throughout the world to broaden the kingdom and increase the population. Once such colony was Fardakin, hidden in an unknown mountainous heart. it was there that a large vein of Mithril was discovered, and the colony grew into a powerful fortress, which housed the main temple of the priests of Moraddin.

WAR AND PEACE

As the other humans and demi-humans grew in power, along with orcs, goblins, and other undesirables, wars broke out for control of wealth and lands. The dwarves were outnumbered, and colonies began falling, one by one.
The great priests in Fardakin cried day and night to Moraddin for help in this war. After all, they too were fighting hard, but were losing quickly, and soon may lose their own fortress and their people. Moraddin heard their prayers, and sent a message to Fardakin. Because of their faithfulness, that fortress would be spared. He asked them to remain in the faith by not leaving the fortress while he took care of their enemies for the duration of the war. After that point, no dwarf ever left the fortress, and as such, no enemy ever darkened their door again. After centuries of centuries, Fardakin prospered as a self-contained community.

A NEW ARRIVAL

One fateful day, a small, norse family came to the gate. It was truly an amazing site to see these strange people after all this time. The norse were all critically ill from their journies in the unforgiving weather. The gates were opened after all this time, and the healers quickly took them in, trying everything they could to save them. Despite their greatest efforts, only the baby survived. His parents were given a good dwarvin burial, but for the baby, it was decided that when he became of age, that he would return to his own kind.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR

The human baby, called Oran, grew up in the temple, attempting to become a healer. He had three friends whom he spent a great deal of time with. Bolar was a priest's apprentice, who helped to conduct many of the church's services. Dwinthor was an apprentice locksmith, and Ovo was a warrior in training.
Oran, the human healer, reached his 21st birthday. Although this was an incredibly young age for a dwarf, it was understood that this was a prime age for the human. The dwarvin community of Fardakin felt it was time he be rejoined with his people. Knowing that they must never return again, Bolar, Ovo, and Dwinthor decided to help escort their human friend. After a great feast and a round of prayers and farewells, the four friends left the stronghold, and descended from the mountain. It was a large and unknown world to the four and their journey was to begin.

A SOUR TURN OF EVENTS

After what seemed like endless days of rough weather and wilderness travel, the four extremely tired friends finally came upon an abandoned town the the edge of a massive snowy reigon (this could be any undead mob in the frontier). Before they knew it, they were attacked by a local garrison of the undead. All four fought bravely in their battle, but before its end, three of the four had fallen, leaving a distraught Bolar standing alone.

A NEW LIFE

After buring his friends, and spending a few months in mourning, Bolar gathered new strength and ventured forth into the world. He eventually came upon the small dwarvin town of Haggerfel, where he met his wife Nadine. They married and had a single child, Ovak, who grew up knowing both the local languages and the ancient dwarvin language. Until recently, Bolar would not share of his painful past, but the story finally came out after an excess of ale. It is now Ovak's desire to train up as a warrior and one day visit the graves of his father's childhood friends.

HINDERANCE

It seems that Ovak was not the only one who heard of his father's heritage. Others in the tavern also caught wind of the tale of a still thriving dwarvin colony full of tremendous riches. A price of 50 gold seems to have been placed on Ovak's head in hopes of obtaining the location of this wealth. So from now on, Ovak must watch his back from assassins while he seeks strength and refuge in the Nidavellir clan. It is his second hope that he may help rebuild the once glorious Nidavellir with his brothers, and that one day, if peace should ever come, that he may return to his original home.

Re: The coming of Ovak
My grandfather spent many anights speeking to me about Nidavellir and the surrounding areas. He is the only dwarf I have ever met who has truely seen the gates. The entire realm of Nidavellir is surrounded by great walls, tall enough that a giant could not climb them and thick enough so that the migtiest blow would not even crack the cover stone. These other keeps you speek of, were small provinces that where built out side of the Nidavellir wall, a trick by the god Loki, he played on our lusts gor precious metals and gems to get us to leave Nidavellir so that he may sneak away with our treasured belongings. And some of the dwarves did in deed go. This is well befor my grand fathers time, but he spoke of it from stories in his own childhood.

The god that the dwarves of Fardakin called Moraddin, is the same god that we today call Thor, the creator and protector of the dwarves. There were rumors of old that the great undermountain keep of Fardakin existed, but none have spoken of it in generations, it is truely a blessing to find that the dwarves of Fardakin still live and prosper well. Perhaps some day I will seek out this great hall of our history.

And in defence of the dwarves of the other mountain keeps, the stories I have heard spoke not of their defeat in battle, but that they had realised Loki's trick, and made great haste back to Nidavellir to warn the others, and left their barron and empty keeps and mines for the lessor creatures to search invain for the dwarven hoards. As far as I be knowin, no dwarf hold has ever been taken, some were destroy by the great giants that always strive to reach beyond the realm of man to the gods themselves, but the enemy still can not pass.

But any dwarf, expecially one with such an interesting herritage is more then welcome by me. And I'm sure your folks will be plenty safe in Haggarfell, the dwarven gaurds there are could good stock and will let no harm come to them. I can assure you, no bounty can rival the riches of Nidavellir, you're death will not be purchasable.

Welcome to the clan Ovak! My sister Daodder was telling me about how you found the body of a kibbie with a reward poster. I tell you, you are safe in this clan. We protect our memebers as well as train and equip them to protect themselves!

And might I say that is one excellent story! You tell is so proudly that I am sure anyone who hears can not help but to be struck in awe!

Thank you
I have already met a good number of your clansmembers and have been amazed at how friendly and helpful they have all been. Of course it would make perfect sense that the ancient colonies were not overtaken, but abandoned. We dwarves are a hearty race and I'm proud to call you all family.

I have no special skill or talent as of yet, but I offer myself and my services to whomever may have need.

Good to meet you all, and I certainly hope to see you again sometime.

Hail there and welcome, seems not to many very young Dwarves have been about when ye have been awake. Just to let you know my young nephew is about yer same age and he would welcome your company( and don't worry he's not the drunk lazy sort like that brother of mine Snoring). yas just got to remember to dance wit da bear when he shows up. He is also to be forgiven as he carries a sword (never a proper weapon for a dwarf, it is the weapon that some foul blodfleng slayed his pa with he has sworn revenge. I or Snoring can find him so just ask.

P.S. hey if you need weapons or armour just ask myself, Kaldoc, Hilgi or Ebenthorin. we will get you all fixed up
