The looking glass (open)
"Do you think it was really wise, to leave everyone the way you did?"

"I didn't want to cause any more trouble"

"Oh Dango, you know the real reason why you left"

Dango's head slouched a little, her long black hair covering the forlorned expression on her face. She sat there, on that rock by the lake, staring at the shimmering surface as her father sat beside her.

"You left because of Knives, and because of Isamu and his sister. You left because you didn't want any of their feelings hurt"

"Maybe"

Dango's slender fingertips dipped into the icy cool water of the lake, causing the ripples to extend throughout the looking glass.

"Maybe I wanted both of them to find someone else. The only way that would happen, was if I left."

"Nonetheless Dango, you not only messed things up for yourself, you missed things up for the agency. Running away doesn't solve your problems, and it certainly doesn't help you do your job"

"Touche."

"So Dango, the real question is, what are you going to do now?"

Vetro came up to the lake's shore. He had never been here. A light breeze washed over him. His suit was black today, with a non-tie purple shirt that he usually wore, not the exact one because he had gone through about five just being here for four days. There was a girl over on a rock, with some kind of older man. Vetro didn't know her or him, he didn't really know anyone. His hands were situtated in his pockets, which was a minor fetish for him. He watched the young woman talk to the man, he shrugged it off. Italians weren't used to the way Americans did things. Vetro pulled his left hand out of his pocket, looking at his three rings.

"I don't like things like this. The idea that humans care about the world or someone other than themselves is highly improbable."

Vetro's rings left his hand and because formulations, spinning and curving with Vetro's thoughts. He walked towards the young woman and the man, there was no real reason not to. He didn't know many people anyways. He put the formulations back as rings before he got there. He approached and stopped walking about fifteen feet away, most people didn't like intrusions, and Vetro was always polite.

"Pardon me, Sir; Ma'dam? Might I enquire as to your names?"

Re: The looking glass (open)
Both figures turned to face the strange boy, Dango's father had glanced at Dango and merely rose to his feet.

"Its time I be going. Catch up with me later"

She had expected that, after all - her father didn't let just anyone get on a first name basis with him. He gave her a warned look, and then tilted his hat towards the boy before walking away.

This, of course, left Dango in an awkward position.

"Who want's to know?"

She wasn't on a first name basis either, not until she at least knew who he was first. She rose to her feet, tucked her black hair behind her left ear and walked towards the boy.

"You really shouldn't interrupt on people's conversations, especially when they don't concern you."

On one of his usual trips to the lake. Merciah is walking quietly. In his own thoughts as he contemplates some of the things he has had to deal with lately. The encounters with all the creatures that have been attacking students from the forest. Merciah tries to figure in his mind what could be causing the creatures to do such things. He has even gone so far as to enter into some of the deepest parts of the forest. Some areas that are so dense with foliage and other trees, with trees so old that they tower far above the ground and allow no light to pass through there many branches. All he found in the depths was an abundance of creatures that would have preyed on him if they had the chance to strike.

But that is elsewhere, and here he walks quietly alone, now along the edge of the lake. Both his hands infront of him and clasped together though covered by the meeting of his sleeves from his robe.

Walking into sight, Merciah spots the girl with the older man as they stand and he makes to leave. The other boy approaching to greet the two, though the older man deciding to leave rather then introduce himself. Not to polite, but apparently his way of doing things. Merciah simply leaves it at that.

Not being a person to impose apon others as he lets himself be noticed but doesn't make any effort to approach. If anyone were to greet him he would return the greeting, and introduce himself. Other then that, Merciah is content remaining quiet and within his thoughts.

"Who want's to know?"

Vetro heard as the older man left her and Vetro. Vetro brought up a smile, he didn't like not being polite, it made the world easier to deal with anyway.

"Why, Vetro Specchio, miss...?"

The young woman got up and walked toward Vetro. She pressed her hair back behind her ear. Vetro remained smiling; he didn't want to make her angry. Then he noticed the other person he had seen walking by before when he was with Amber. He wondered who he was. Though that could wait.

"You really shouldn't interrupt on people's conversations, especially when they don't concern you."

Vetro didn't like people getting mad at him without a real reason; it was their fault for talking in the middle of the lake, so therefore he had done no wrong. He kept smiling and being polite just the same.

"I appologize miss, I meant no ill will to you or your acomplace. I would make it up to you if you would like me too. Having someone as foreward as you angered with me isn't really in my best interests."

Vetro said, he extened his left hand for a shake from Dango, he was left handed. He also doubted that Americans would ever like Italian greetings anyways. His pure diamond rings were around his three middle fingers. He waited, hoping to get her name and a shake.

Re: The looking glass (open)
Dango saw Merciah, glancing towards him before the Italian boy could give her an answer. She gave Merciah a slight nod, a way to say she was acknowledging his presence as well. She didn't know Merciah personally, but she knew he had been around campus for a long time.

"Why, Vetro Specchio, miss...?"

" - your new, I presume"

Only somebody new would be insane enough to approach the usually standoffish Dango. Dango lately had become a shadow, despite the real reason she was suppose to be at the high school.

"I apologize miss, I meant no ill will to you or your accomplice. I would make it up to you if you would like me too. Having someone as foreword as you angered with me isn't really in my best interests."

"That accomplice was my father. There are other area's of the lake you could of went to, you know. You were the one that approached us. "

She was delaying giving him her name, but why? Obviously she wasn't as friendly as the rest of them.

He extended her hand towards her, she spotted the three diamond rings around his fingers and she only smirked at the sight.

"I suppose that you think because of your heritage, your pretty face, or your riches, that you can bend any woman's will to your own? I don't know what your really after, Vetro, but your not getting it from me. I'm sure there are other students around here who would just love to meet you. So, I suggest you move on."

It wasn't really anything personal, but Dango wasn't about to tell him that. The last thing she needed was another male friend.

She walked past him, and headed in the direction her father had left. If she knew her father, an escorted car was waiting just around the corner.

Vetro raised an eyebrow; she was ridiculing him about the fact that he had the diamonds. He wasn't after anything to be particular, just aquantances. She walked passed him leaving his hand without any sort of gesture. The rings left his hand, they spun in midair and reshaped into three small formulations. Then the ones from his earrings joined them. He sent them towards the woman with no intention of attack, just to show her why the rings were on his fingers. He put his left hand in his pocket and turned around.

"Oh, I don't care if you mock my family, but the diamonds don't like it when you insult them. Now if you don't mind, I would appreciate it if you would treat me like a human being. Now, that's just plain rude."

Re: The looking glass (open)
Dango was stopped mid walk by three formations of diamonds coming at her. She only stopped, and turned around to face him without moving. No sign of fear, as they came towards her - after all, she had worse things thrown at her.

"Oh, I don't care if you mock my family, but the diamonds don't like it when you insult them. Now if you don't mind, I would appreciate it if you would treat me like a human being. Now, that's just plain rude."

"The diamonds don't like it if I insult them? What, they have personalities now? "

Dango looked at them for a moment, quirking her eyebrow as she scoffed and stuffed her hands in her pockets. What was the worse they could do to her? Give her glass slivers?

"I am treating you like a human being. What makes you really think you are special enough to have me treat you any differently? Why do you think I was here alone, and with my father no less? You have a lot to learn, kid."

Pity? No. Dango just didn't have the time right now to worry about this one, or anyone for that matter.

"If your looking for friends, or whatever your looking for, you won't find it with me. I don't need to start worrying about anyone else right now, I have enough problems. Go talk to that boy over there, he is more important to get to know than I am anyway"

Dango motioned towards Merciah, sitting by the lake and assumingly minding his own business - as she wished Vetro would of done as well.

"So, are we done here, or do you expect me to shake the hands of your floating diamonds too?"

Re: The looking glass (open)
Kobita, always the innovative person, was experimenting on the fine Lake Nica. The boy was sprawled out on the lake surface, seemingly hovering over the water. This experiment was happily a success. Kobita had managed to get the funnels to hover him over the water. This would save him a fortune on relaxing floatation devices.

It was comfortable too, there wasn't an uncomfortable position on the surface, as there was no surface. Kobita was happily asleep. At least until his nap was rudely interrupted by noises.

He slowly sat up from his enjoyable relaxing position and groggily eyed the shore. He recognized one person quickly, he had seen him frequently lately, and barely ever talked to the speedy fellow at all. He should probably take time to actually talk to Merciah sometime when he wasn't far too lazy.

He then noticed two people he didn't recognize, seemingly arguing. He slowly rubbed his eyes of sleep as the two funnels supporting his upper body came to float at the sides of his head.

"What could that be about?" He wondered amidst a yawn. The funnels supporting him flew back into his arm as he splashed into the water. He pondered swimming over there, then he pondered if he was lazy enough not to, then he pondered why he'd go over there in the first place. As he pondered, he made his way over to the coast. With his pondering completely useless, he decided he best find out what was going on, because only his boredom could overcome the lazyness.

"The diamonds don't like it if I insult them? What, they have personalities now?"

Vetro watched the young woman cock her eyebrows. She shoved her hands in her pockets, most likely mocking Vetro, he showed no sign of surprise. He also figured she was sorrowly underestimating him. He put up a smile.

"I am treating you like a human being. What makes you really think you are special enough to have me treat you any differently? Why do you think I was here alone, and with my father no less? You have a lot to learn, kid."

Vetro retained his smile, he know knew how to get at the young woman who believed him to be so infererior. Power meant nothing in this world, only what you could logically refine.

"If your looking for friends, or whatever your looking for, you won't find it with me. I don't need to start worrying about anyone else right now, I have enough problems. Go talk to that boy over there, he is more important to get to know than I am anyway"

Vetro watched her ignore him and remove her attention again, she waved to the boy sitting. Vetro gave him a smile and a slight head nod that was more of a bow. Vetro also waved at the other student on the water.

"So, are we done here, or do you expect me to shake the hands of your floating diamonds too?"

Vetro looked back to the young woman and smiled. The diamonds began to surround her, he pulled his right hand out of his pocket with five more diamonds which began to formulate and revolate around him, then he put his hand back in his pocket.

"Why don't you shake their hands? After all, their feelings are already hurt. They don't know if they exist, just like humans, they don't know if they exist either. They have no proof of their own existance."

The five formulations around the woman became knife-like objects. Vetro smiled at her even more than before, a smile like he knew nothing, yet saw through everything.

"I should warn you, diamonds have the potential to be the strongest and sharpest objects known to earth."

Vetro said as the diamonds began an attack on the woman, five comming at her, one from every side(front, back, left, right) and the last aproaching from above her aiming for her shoulder.

Just as suddenly as Vetro begins his attack on Dango Merciah is standing next to the boy. He seemingly had appeared there, noone even saw him move from his position and he was already next to Vetro. He remains quiet, looking at the things that are surrounding the girl and perhaps one or two seconds after he is there, a sonic boom can be heard crashing past them.

After the loud sonic boom Merciah speaks, though his attention still on the girl, and not even turning to look at the boy. "Perhaps your being new here makes you not understand." Merciah begins. "Such aggresive actions are not likely to help you meet people."

"Are you kidding me? I told you to leave me alone, so why are you still bothering me?"

Dango wasn't mocking him, aside from being standoffish towards everyone - Dango was harmless. A few self defense moves under her belt, a stun gun located at her hip, she wasn't a powerful meta human like the majority of the kids at this school.

She was there for a different purpose, a purpose that had absolutely nothing to do with the boy.

"Your threatening me aren't you? Are you really that - - "

Then it happened. The diamonds turned into sharp knife - like objects, and any moment now they would slice Dango's soft skin to pieces. She did what anybody would do, shield her head the best that she could - only -

A loud wave of energy exploded around her, at first she thought it was the boy adding more of a direct attack, but as she heard the shattering sound she realized it was something else.

Someone else.

"Perhaps your being new here makes you not understand."

Was he talking about her?

"Such aggresive actions are not likely to help you meet people."

He was talking to him. Dango was silent for a moment, looking from Merciah to Vetro and back to Merciah again. She felt a need to thank him, Merciah of course, but she wasn't sure how she could. Instead, she just quietly walked over to Merciah and slowly kneeled before him, her head looking at his feet.

"Thank you"

Rising to her feet again, her chestnut hues met Merciah's for a moment.

"Can you make sure he doesn't follow me back to school? I do prefer my skin on my body"

Re: The looking glass (open)
The appearance of the other student. Followed by the sonic boom and explosion; and accompanying dizzyness that followed, Vetro instantly understood, it was a speed. He brought his diamonds back towards him slowly.

"Perhaps your being new here makes you not understand."

Vetro stood unsuprised; he knew there were kids like this, people who considered themselves the gods of the school. His diamonds settled around him, his hands were still in his pockets.

"Such aggresive actions are not likely to help you meet people."

Vetro cocked his eyebrow, obdviously insults meant nothing to this student. He watched the girl come over and kneel before the student.

"Can you make sure he doesn't follow me back to school? I do prefer my skin on my body"

Vetro turned and began walking in the opposite direction towards school, he had no reason to deal with any of these people. He certainly thought logically enough. The diamonds around him joined his left hand, while the last 2 went into his earrings. As he was walking away he turned back towards the older student.

"Good day to you, sir. Oh don't worry about the madame, I have no intention of harming her."

Reverting to his politeness on someone who used no logic or aptitude was always the best. Life-speaking, the young man was nowhere near Vetro in thought, the man still believed only on-sided stories and that actions were good or evil. Didn't matter, Vetro thought to himself as he continued walking away.

Re: The looking glass (open)
Kobita would have groaned at Merciah if he had time to. He had a good feeling what he'd do as soon as the man threatened, and eventually attacked. He didn't know much about Merciah but he knew that he was beyond fast, to the point where it was just ridiculous. If he hadn't forseen the action, Merciah may have hurt the girl moreso than the other man would have.

Sonic booms were dangerous things. The cocky little...was lucky that Kobita was there. A sonic boom created by him moving that fast would have had had grave consequences.

However, Kobita was there. As soon as Vetro and Merciah went to work, Kobita did as well. He quickly began bouncing the waves from Merciah's movements off one another, making them spin off and lessen themselves significantly. The Diamonds were also pushed off in seperate directions and away from the girl.

As sound waves died down, Kobita fell to his knees. "Merciah, you idiot..." He managed to mumble as a small trickle of blood came out of his nose.

Kobita rocked backward and lied out, he was effectively drained now, he'd get Merciah back later. Well...at least he would be drained for about five minutes before he was back to his usual, unusual combination of being energetically lazy. He did have enough energy to grumble out one last message though. "Miss...If I were you, I'd be more worried about speedy there."

((edited the details of how exactly the attack was repelled at Fantom's request...so his character didn't die.))

Another player. She was alone one minute with her father, and in the next moment she was looking into the eyes of three different boys. And what the power neutralizer did, left her more confused as she walked over to Kobita with a questioning look.

What the hell?

"Ok, what the hell is going on? Mr.Speedy just saved me from becoming swiss cheese, Mr.Sensitive over there says he wasn't going to harm me YET he sent glass shards to slice me open, and you say to worry about Mr. Speedy? Who the hell is the good guy here??!!"

And he was bleeding from his nose. This was where Dango came in handy, unraveling the red ribbon from her upper arm she handed it to him.

"I just wanted to be alone, and now this. What is next? Someone kidnapping me for experiments? This school is strange."

Not that Dango didn't have her demons.

"Who exactly am I suppose to trust? I'm not going to act like little miss sunshine to avoid not getting killed. I would rather be buried in the ground."

Re: The looking glass (open)
(OOC: Game mechanics Note: To explain a few things. The sonic boom is simply a by-product of Merciah's speed, so that everyone understands that that isn't his power, but the speed of his movement causes such a thing. It being his power, Merciah knew to wait for the sound to pass before speaking rather then be interrupted.)

Watching the boy leave Merciah doesn't say anything to him. He wasn't being aggresive towards the boy or anyone else for that matter. The speed of his movement just happened to cause a disturbance to those around him.

First Dango thanks him for the help, though the opnly thing he did was tell the boy in Merciah's way that he were making a bad decision. Vetro says he had no intention of harming the girl. Then Kobita calls Merciah an idiot, which draws his attention. Why would he be an idiot.

Before he decides on a way to pose his question to Kobita, he realizes the answer for himself. Ahh, perhaps he shouldn't have moved so fast to cause a sonic boom. He could have been just as successfull by moving a bit slower. Well, that will have to go towards his experiences, there is no changing the past.

Looking to Dango Merciah has an answer for the question she asked about who to trust. As the good guy question, there was no real answer to that. Talking he looks at the girl near him as he speaks, though he is obviously caucasion, he has a slight Chinese accent in his words. "You should only trust those you have spent enough time with to know what resides in there heart. Being you are not using the name for any of us three, you wouldn't know us. So that would mean, of the three of us. Not one untill you have decided that they have earned your trust."

Merciah stops talking and looks again towards Vetro. He heard the boy offer his name, and he already knows Kobita, but he never got the girls name. "Before I forget," Merciah begins. "Can I ask your name?" Then Merciah is quiet, being one of few words the explanation of trust was more then he speaks to most people, especially ones he hasn't been introduced to.

Kobita laughed as well as he could in his current position. "Swiss cheese...thats funny." The boy still held a smile on his face in his momentarily crippled position. It didn't take long for him to get feeling back in his limbs, and he immediately wished they stayed numb. He did manage to get up to a sitting position though.

While Kobita wasn't the most honorable person in the world, he wasn't going to wipe up his blood with the ribbon the girl wore around her arm. He had a much more efficient, albeit potentially more painful way to wipe the blood from his nose. He was out on the lake, and not entirely sure his little plan would work. So naturally he was in hiw swimming trunks, his metal arm in view. The metal arm being a much more efficient (due to it being stainless so actually cleaning it would be easy) for the wiping of the blood.

He would have made a sarcastic remark about her next statement, but he had reached his sarcasm quota for the day. It would be unbecoming to go past it. The sarcasm quota got in the way again when Merciah answered her question. He let a little slip however when he rose his right hand as Merciah finished his trust speech. "I'm Kobita." He said happily, as if that meant she could trust him now.

He rubbed the blood from his nose with a metal finger and turned to wipe it off in the lake as he patiently awaited the answer to Merciah's most recent question.

All Dango heard was 'blah blah blah, don't trust anyone'. It suited her just fine enough.

"My name? My name is Dango Vice"

Dango waited for the snicker, the laughter of someone who would obviously know that 'Dango' meant 'Dumpling'.

"And before it turns into a joke, do be aware that my parents had me at a very young age when being called Dumpling was considered cute."

She really disliked her name - -

"Swiss cheese...thats funny

"Maybe for you - "

His metal arm, why didn't Dango noticed it earlier? Guess there must of been too many things going on around her. When he refused the ribbon, she merely shrugged and wrapped it back around her upper arm.

"Suit yourself"

"I'm Kobita"

"Ko - bi - ta. Nice. What are you anyway? "

Dango realized how rude it must of came out, but she wasn't used to apologizing.. no matter what came out of her mouth.

Re: The looking glass (open)
All Kobita could do was stare blankly at her. She was talking about her name as a joke...and the boy was oblivious that Dango had any other meaning other than what people called her. There were a lot of things Kobita was oblivious to, names being one of them. His for example didn't mean anything other than what his mother named him.

As she commented on another thing he said he lowered the metal finger into the water, wiping whatever blood that wasn't initially cleaned off with his left hand.

This girl was quite the unusual case. He had never met one before with such disrespect to...everyone. It was slightly annoying. He quietly mused to himself what might have possibly happened if he or Merc weren't there. The thoughts quickly left as he pulled his arm out of the water, examining it.

Then her next question came. He wasn't sure if she was mocking his name or not, but asking what he was...was somewhat out of line. He turned around slowly, a mischievious smile on his face. He let out a short whistle and bent the waves, aiming them at her forehead. The contact would be very similar to being flicked on your forehead.

"I'd be called a human, maybe you've heard of them. Not sure what you are though."

Seeing Vetro finally out of range to cause any more trouble Merciah looks at the two. "It was nice meeting you Dango, and it was good seeing you again Kobita." Simple and quick as he offers a slight bow in politeness. He spoke more then he normally does already, so they should be satisfied with their usual social actions.

Turning Merciah remains quiet, not having any further reason to be accompanying the two next to him as he walks towards where he was before Vetro had decided on his aggressive actions. He isn't rude though, so if either of them speaks to him, Merciah will stop and acknowledge that they are speaking to him by listening politely. Either way, he doesn't do anything to show himself as a part of the two students that are at the lake other then him.

This is where I put more of my random thoughts. :)

Has everyone heard, there have been attacks in the forest. More and more students are showing up in Mrs Hanabishi's ward by the day. What's going on. It's the talk of the school.

Dango of course, wouldn't of realized he thought she was mocking his name. It wasn't like that at all, she was sounding it out so she could say it properly. However, the flick to the forehead with the water was a dead giveaway that he wasn't pleased with her.

"I'd be called a human, maybe you've heard of them. Not sure what you are though."

"I was referring to your metal arm. With all the different meta humans at this school, you might of been insulted that I called you one."

Not that it mattered now anyway, she had already made her first impression on him.

"Clearly something I said is bothering you, and clearly you have the wrong impression of me. Perhaps I could make it up to you somehow? Can I take you for lunch?"

Dango nodded her farewell to Merciah, then turned her attention back to Kobita.
